Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Have they said when the DLC is coming out? Never bought DLC before but I think I might get the expansion pass for this considering how good the game is and how it's meant to be 30 hours long. Will probably last me a lot longer considering how slow I've been at doing the quests so far.
There has been loads of mini-DLC's, 16 or so, new armour, alternate clothes for Yen/Triss/Ciri, mini quests etc... but the real expansions are coming out October (10 hours long in Velen) and early 2016 (20 hours long in a new region called Touissant, which is a fairy-tale like region with knights and really big castles). The developers haven't promised anything, but they said they may even end up bigger, and at the minute the combined expansions are the same length as The Witcher 2. These bastards do gaming the proper way.

I'm going to be controversial and say don't bother with Gwent.

It's not storyline essential, and is just a cleverly thought out, yet still fairly pointless side-game.

There's a shitload of content already here and you have over 100 hours of stuff to do without crucifying your social life and relationships any further than necessary.

I've probably spent about 3-4 hours of gameplay solely playing Gwent.

Time well spent.

I still always use my Northern Realms deck though, despite my Nilfgaardian being more powerful.

I've also been using my Northern Realms deck so far. Got two special cards for it so far (Vernon Roach and Yennefer). Got a triple blue stripes commando card which has helped me win most of the matches.

Foltest's ability to remove all weather effects is really good.

I think the Northern Realm special ability of adding a card when you win a round is too valauable (It's the best, with the Monsters perk of keeping a card on the board second) - I basically win most of my games by having way more cards then my opponent, using Spies/Decoys/Medics and the such.

Would love to build my Monsters deck up though (I've got about 5 more utility cards to get), I find those my toughest games, because of how overwhelming it can be when they just keep adding cards from the deck to the board. The Leader card that adds a Commander card is great too.

I've not played much Gwent yet due to the game being so huge and immersive regardless.

There are a couple of quests relating to it though and i imagine some achievements so i'll get started on it later in the game.

Same.

Still in early Skellige. I miss being a student all those years ago with hours to kill :(

I'm in Skellige somewhere, can't really remember exactly where.

Yeah :( It's shite being a grown up, this work thing gets in the way of everything.

I've still not even gone to Skellige yet... I like dicking about in Velen too much!
I'm the same. Way it is looking, I'll be trying to finish off all the side quests before I hit a point where I'm to under leveled to do any more before jumping on the boat.

Soundtrack is great. Especially in crookback bog, makes the area very atmospheric

Well, i've just gotten to a stage where the consequences of my actions have bit me back in the arse.

Saved the children. Anna dies, Baron hangs himself. Feck. Felt sorry for the bloke in the last stages of his storyline. Ah well, in a different playthrough i'll make different choices but still! :( Also meant i can't get his Gwent card as i didn't think he'd do that. Annoying.

Oh is that what happens if you side with the Tree? I didn't trust it at all so I killed it (plus those kids were annoying as feck) ... glad I did now!

Cracking storyline is that, absolutely brilliant.

Actually have any of you completed this without banging anyone?
It's not possible, there's one forced sex scene with Yen.
when you arrive just at skellige on the unicorn
If ever you need proof she's the one.

Don't think it is compulsory.

If you choose not too follow Yennefer (watch her fix her dress) after being transported back from elemental fight then you don't get this scene

Oh shit yeah, you're right.

Indeed!

I imagine you end up alone
as you do when you shag both

Thats correct.

Fortunately I bought the strategy guide so it showed me how to achieve all these different endings.

If you choose the other dialogue option after fighting the elemental, I think it's "we're going choke to death" or summit like that, you get teleported back to Bran's wake as opposed to Yen's room.

If you play The Witcher games and don't shag someone you're doing it wrong.
To think they toned it down this year. This game only has 5 unique characters you can bonk. Then a brothel or two.

Why would anyone do this?

Defeats the whole point of playing the game, removes the challenge and spoils the endings.

Oh ffs.

That guide has been an excellent buy for me. It has shown me how to get side quests i wouldnt have found or special equipment to improve my character. I wouldnt have found my ursine armour set without it. It has also encouraged me to explore more. Basically, i have got more out of the game with it than i would have done without it.

Plus, i got an extra book with it which showed me a lot of the lore as well.

Fair enough. Each to their own.

For me, the beauty of the game is finding those things serendipitously.

Thats fine. I also like to find stuff on my own and by no means used the guide to hold my hand throughout and I probably discovered most of it on my own.

But I needed that bit extra in order to find and understand some of the game's most hidden and most beautiful aspects.

Gargoyles are bloody tough to take down.

Also. I really love this game, but the horse and swimming mechanics are terrible.

Took me 30 mins or so to take down two gargoyles and an earth elemental guarding some treasure. I was literally on the verge of tears I was getting so angry at the fight. Two cnuts kept flying into the air and squishing me. Death March is no joke.

I fecking HATED that fight. I nearly gave up and ran away.

Never got the hang of gargoyles. Always resorted to spamming as many potions as possible and lots and lots of quen.

Started this on Tuesday. Level 2 and only done a couple of side quests so far, as well as continuing the Griffin hunt. Liking it a lot. Gwent seems cool. Looks a lot better than I was expecting too, for some reason it didn't look amazing in screens I'd seen but when it's in motion and you're wandering around on horseback it really is stunning.

Quick question; does it matter too much where you put your skill points at the start? Is this the kind of game where you'll get enough skill points to cover most areas or do you need to pick a path and stick to it pretty quickly?
