Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Now it probably will be the best game ever tbf.
Just wait for the expansions. I'm certain the Toussaint expansion set for 2016 is going to be absolutely phenomenal.

I've found it hard to play this for extended periods of time like I did for Dragon Age. Its a bit too good

New picture for the expansion packs - Shani confirmed in the first.

There's a thread on Neogaf asking if Witcher 3 is too short...didn't open it as I don't want any spoilers as I'm only at the Bloody Baron quest. I thought this was meant to be a 100 hour game and 50 hour story? What are they on about

They are clearly deranged, there is nothing too short about the Witcher 3. Neogaf is full of nuts.

They're nuts, simple as.

This is the first game I've played in yoinks where I've had to take a few weeks break because the game was that long. Can't think of any game lasting me this long since Persona 4.

I've switched to Polish and it's like a completely new game. I think I prefer it in Polish right now, the cursing is on a whole different level.

I just checked the price for Persona 4 Golden and it's only £17.50...ordered it

Will have to dust off the Vita after a year of zero use

Persona 4 is the only game that I've sunk nearly 40 hours into in a week... Also, such non-typical game for me to get engaged into. Great title.

They're fecking insane then! Took me well over 100 hours to complete the game (137 hours according to Steam, but some of that was the game running in the background and I did all (yes, all!) the silly question marks in Skellige).

In fairness, pretty much everyone in the thread is telling him that he's being stupid though. The OP says that he probably spent 60-100 hours (and isn't even done yet!), but reckon he could do the main story line in about 30 (which I doubt). One line from his post
Beyond the side quests and witch hunts, DLC quests, etc. Where the hell is this game?
"So if you take away almost the whole game, there isn't really much left!!!"

Here's the link for anyone who wants to see the thread btw. Be aware of spoilers though!

I spent ages in the fecking cave with the witch lady with no health, then eventually I realised you can meditate and heal  I was nearly at the stage of giving up binning it

Almost finished it, its a shame since the battle at kaer morhen everything is so rushed in the game. I think I've gone from level 25 to 33 in like 4 or 5 hours of gameplay... Though I have to say the scene where (minor late game spoilers)
Geralt finds Ciri is absolutely beautiful, I was almost in tears watching that scene even though the outcome was obvious.
Ciri is probably my favourite character actually, fun to play as too :D

Some slight grievances -

The crafting system was pretty naff. Most of the stuff I picked up has been garbage, I don't think I've changed what I've worn since enhanced and then superior cat gear. I've hundreds of crafting supplies that are sitting useless and have been sitting useless for pretty much all the game. On the other hand I loved the alchemy, much more involved.

Why don't blacksmiths, armourers, merchants, Gwent players etc show on the map? Stupid.

I am fully aware Geralt hates portals by now...

The skill tree is pretty dull. One alternate move for your signs and that's it. But I enjoyed the combat mostly.

Witcher senses for everything become almost absurd. Thankfully everything else was so good it wasn't too big a issue.

It is by far the longest game ive ever played. I finished up uni for the year, came home for summer and it took me 2 weels of non stop playing to complete like 150 hours

Aye the questing in and around
The Battle for Kaer Morhen
made me level fecking stupid rapid. Easily went up 6+ levels in that small phase.

I have finally visited Skellige for the first time. It is noticably different from Velen and Novigrad, also very large. I went back to Novigrad because I still need to finish some stuff there. I am hoping for another 40 hours with this game at least.

About 30 hours in, and kinda fallen off this a little bit. Been binge playing Batman for the past week or so. I'll probably go back to it though, there's not a whole lot else being released over the next month or so that I'm really interested in.

If you've just arrived at Skellige and are a meticulous fecker who is actually going back to Novigrad to finish things, you have at least another 60 or so hours left of roaming to do. Feck am I saying? It's probably even more. The main and side quests will take about 30 hours from here on alone tbh.

I hope you know I read through all of that to make sure your issue was solved in there. That's true love kind of antics.

Cheers mate. Reading that drunk at 5am didn't register it in my brain so reading that again now was a nice surprise.

Bought it this morning for £32. So excited! Am I in for something that surpasses Skyrim?

I haven't told my Mrs... she won't be best pleased. It's a digital download though so I can just play some mind tricks...

"Oh, this game? I've had this one for ages".

Yes, easily. This is coming from a huge Elder Scrolls fan.

It's on another level to Skyrim.

Finally finished it today. Best game I've played for quite some time. Everything about it just screams out quality - graphics, characters, story, longevity, action, humour. It has the lot. Not a fan of buying dlc but I don't think I can resist getting it for this game. Was a little gutted it actually finished when it did as I could easily have sank more time into it. My ending was a good one with Ciri doing what she was destined to do. For the first time playing The Witcher I have to give the White Wolf 10/10.

Say goodbye to your social life for a month

I completed it yesterday, got the best ending too I think, watched the others on YouTube and was pleased with the one I got. Hope there's some DLC with more Yennefer

This game never ends, not complaining at all but for a game of this size to have a main plot last this long still be engaging is amazing. It puts every other open world game to shame.

I thought the battle at Kaer Morhen was going to be the finale but I've done another 2-3 hours of stuff after that and now I'm going after the Sunstone.

You're almost there :)

I have about 4 hours play time and have done... well, nothing at all. I love how the side quests are distracting yet worthwhile. I haven't touched the main quest since I was told I need to kill the Griffin.

I need help with all these items I'm collecting. My alchemy inventory is nearly full from all the shit I've been picking up but I don't know what to do with it? I only really care about cool swords and shit.

There isn't much to alchemy, just pick up everything you come across. Go into the alchemy crafting section and if something is green, then you have enough ingredients to make something.

I've finally finished it, it's an incredible game and I'm already looking forward to a second run through it next year after the the expansions are released.

I had heard there was multiple endings and I'm delighted I got the best one where Ciri lives and becomes a Witcher with Geralt and Geralt lives happily ever after with Yenn. If I got crap one after sinking 100+ hours into the game, I would've been pissed.
