Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Can anyone explain to me what exactly happened at the start? I've never played a Witcher game before so trying to figure out what's going on.

When me and Vesemir were training Ciri at the start and he sees that ghost ship come it looks like they took Ciri, is that right? I'm guessing that was the Wild Hunt?

So now Yennefer is saying Ciri is back and that the Wild Hunt are looking for her, but didn't they take her in the first place? What is the Wild Hunt anyway?

The bit with the ship and training Ciri was a nightmare Geralt had.

So what happened to Ciri then?
I've not played the earlier Wither games(well, a small portion of 2), so I'm not entirely certain, but as far as I know, after her training with Geralt, she trained as a sorceress. At some point during that, during a kidnapping attempt, she escapes, goes off on some adventures, then disappears for a number of years.

Now she's popped back up, on the run from the Wild Hunt.

Anybody else have trouble with the nightwraith in Jenny O' the Woods mission? Died a fair few times before giving up and moving onto another mission.

And what's a secondary weapon? I have an axe that does more damage than other weapon I have, but it's a secondary weapon, while the others aren't. Does that affect anything?

Use Yrden, and stay within the trap. Bombs are good help too. My tactic for that wraith was literally... 'Place Yrden > block > Wraith enters > hit > dodge back > rinse and repeat.

A group of specters who are basically just a big 'feck no'. Omen of death, war, destruction etc... They want Ciri because she is a descendant of a royal linage of elves - the 'elder blood' - she basically has the abilities taught to her by Geralt as a Witcher, the soreceress powers by Yen, and then the rest of it. She's kind of a big deal. Oh, and her child will have the power to rule over the World, or something or other. It's basically why anyone who is interested (apart from Geralt) wants Ciri, really.

You mean your two swords? You have a steel one for humans(and regular animals) which can be swapped for axes, clubs and the like. The other is a silver sword for use on supernatural enemies, monsters, ghosts and the like.

I've done a shit ton in Skellige and I've still a shit more to do. Not just there, but in Velen/Novigrad also. Not complaining, actually don't want it to end! I loved the aforementioned part, the main questline isn't as long but it's good, and the secondary questlines/witcher contracts are fun. Oh, and the music is SUBLIME, I got goosebumps the first time I heard this, riding through the forest on horseback (I hate Roach)

Listen to that! Fcuking beautiful.

Just finished The Last Wish quest line, was really nice.

Damn thing takes a third of my health in one hit.

Yes, I know all that. The axe I have has "Secondary weapon" written under it, as opposed to a regular sword, I was just wondering if that made a difference.

Life must be awkward for Ciri, when even ghouls and spectres want to get it up in her.

Sorry mate, didn't realise, I've not seen a weapon marked secondary like that.

Anyway played gwent with that blacksmith girl in Crow's perch - I think her name was Yoana or something?

WTF, she had like every heroic 10+ piece, impossible to beat :wenger:

I beat her first try although she only used 2 hero cards I think so I got lucky. I now have Ciri's card

Without going into spoiler territory, well, very minor spoiler I guess, I was in a sauna with some old hag, wrinkly tits hanging and they jiggled a lot. They really went into detail for old woman tit physics.

My health is going down on it's own by tiny bits every few seconds. Anyone know why? Another glitch?

It's just popped up in my inventory saying to upgrade armour do this and that but it didn't make much sense to me. How do I upgrade my armour?

Gearing the correct crafting gear, it should say. Don't waste time on it, especially if you're low levelled. Most of the better armour is capped to higher levels to actually even use.

Anyone find a merchant "in distress" trapped in a cage, but with no key to in sight?

I think it could be a bug, cuz there's nothing around, ive killed everything.

Except yo mama. Yo mama is fiiiine.

Yeah she messed me up too! I thought I'd go around playing the plebs so I could get a few better cards for facing the baron and despite looking dirtpoor she has the most mental deck I've seen yet. Will have to go back and play her at some point.

Also does anyone else laugh when they here Geralt say, 'lets lay 'em down', it gets me everytime.

In a bandit camp? Loot one of the bandits and he has a key

I think its a glitch, searched it online and apparently other people had the same problem.

Does he sell anything worthwhile though?

Yeah I've had that too there's no key to let the poor fecker out anywhere.

She's apparently the toughest Gwent opponent in the game so I'm fairly happy that I wasn't able to beat her with my crappy early Northern Realms deck. Needs to be some challenge to it. Even still having the starter deck I somehow managed to fluke a win against that bloke in the vizima palace in my first game. The ai can be pretty dumb.

How can I exit a dungeon? I am stuck at Golem fight with virtually no potions and food, I am not beating him and would rather go back to the city and get some supplies and perhaps finish some missions but I don't want to go to the previous save (not even sure I have one) to lose progress. Alternatively is it possible to go to the lowest difficulty level for a fight?

Yeah just go to options and gameplay settings or something, change difficulty and them change it back when you're done.

All right. I should be able to beat him on easy without potions, right?

You can cheese most boss fights, even on hard.

Just spam igni, roll away when he attacks, cast igni...rinse and repeat. Takes a while but he shouldn't ever hit you. The 1vs1 encounters in this game are ridiculously easy, its so easy to dodge them and in which case you just spam igni or subdue them with axii and get a few hits before retreating and repeating the process.

The only tough opponents are the werewolves and ghouls which regenerate health.

Doesn't she have a monster deck? Load up on blizzard cards.

Trouble is, she has a shed load of +10 hero cards which aren't effected by Blizzards.

I've just given up on her for the time being, already won the Vellen tournament now I'm going for the innkeep tournament. Gonna come back all Rocky Balboa on this bitch with my heroic deck.

I've not even started the tournaments yet.

This game  It's so good.

Was still tough for me because I had no healing items and less then half of my health but I ended up getting him... Didn't know you can meditate to recover that stuff either until later.
