Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Had to drop the difficulty from Broken Bones to Story and Sword. Now I can just meditate to heal instead of wasting every penny I have on healing items between battles.

Anyone else find the in-game text very small?

There shouldn't be a need for that, I've never come close to needing to buy any healing item. Easy way to stay on top of it is to use the Swallow potion. It heals you significantly and meditating replenishes all of your potions/oils/bombs provided you have some alcoholest which is really easy to come by. Also just pick up water and food items as you go. Oh and it goes without saying anyone playing on the harder difficulties should have the Sun and Stars perk which replens your health when out of combat in the daytime, at least early on, I'll probably switch it out when it becomes less useful due to higher vitality.

Yes the text is very small playing on console. I imagine on PC with the monitor right in front it is fine but no way I can play from my sofa, I end up sat on my rug about 2 feet from the screen.

Am fighting the noonwraith near the beginning and it's just disappeared. I have nothing to fight but the music is still playing and I'm in fight mode.

Tried again and this time took what looked like all it's health away and it disappeared and now there's just some dust kicking up that follows me everywhere. Seems glitchy as feck.

Have you actually done the stuff you need to do (i.e search the houses and go down the well etc)? When you first see it you aren't ready to properly fight it.

Hmmm could be bugged then unfortunately. Hopefully you have a save not too far back. Earlier my horse somehow ran up in the sky, got stuck and so with no other choice I dismounted and fell about 100 foot down to the ground and died. Overall I've not come across too many bugs though for a big open world game.

Gwent seems completely pointless in terms of the actual game as you can only bet 10 crowns but its addicting as hell, must've spent a few hours today at least playing it and looking for better cards

Use Ard on that dust maybe?

I wish you could compare items side by side, it's annoying having the check between swords/armour all the time. I'm with Triss now and I've just used my 3rd set of armour, I honestly think I really should spend an hour concentrating on upgrading my weapons/armour and sorting my items and crafting

Novigrad and Velen are the same map? :s Velen is the wilderness area, Novigrad is the City?

Still a huge game, just thought it was going to be bigger  Now I feel as though I'm too far through it, even though I'm not

yup, botchzilla

the game forces you to explore and level up because the main story line on hard, can get hard ;p

I'm focusing on the main story at the minute, got sick of bumping into the same things in those question marks. I know they're not the side quests mind.

The side quests are pretty good tbh. I think after this main mission I'll move back onto them for a while, try finishing off White Orchard too actually. I stopped in WO due to not having a bomb to destroy a nest, but I could have just used Igni  Didn't even think about it.

I'm level 7 and currently cruising around Velen having done everything available to me in White Orchard.

What equipment should I craft? Any tips? Got the viper swords but other than that just loot.

craft ur bombs as early as u can, they're pretty useful. So are the potions and oils with regards to alchemy.

I highly suggest you find the bandits camp / hideout where you will spend a good 15 - 20 mins just looting, and there are some weapons you may end up using from there.

Umm.. need to play to see what you could craft for your level, will do that when i get back home!

Did you finish the Keira questline? I did sidequests for a bit only for the leveling aspect, and the hidden treasures they reveal at times (good loot, you need that shit on hard!) but im switching back to main quests.

You can also do the secondary quests, they also add to the story in ways. I can understand getting bored of the sidequests, they tend to get repetitive but do them for the exp and coin if you're short on both.

The game just gets better and better, the Skellige Isles is my favourite zone so far. I've just done a secondary quest that would rival most rpg's main story it's unbelievable.

Yeah finished her questline ages ago. Think I've just about completed White Orchard now too, missed some of the gwent cards first time round and don't think I can get them now though :/

Maybe it was a glitch because there was just a circle with black inside it and nothing changed when moving the sliders.

What was the image meant to be of?

Think it was the witcher logo ? Can't remember now. Just checked in the options, it is indeed the Witcher logo. Infact when I went to it this time, it was not visible to me so had to adjust things. Playing in different light throughout the day (real light vs artificial vs complete darkness) makes a lot of difference.

Platform are you guys on?

PS4.

What's the best way of finding secondary quests? just the yellow exclamation marks dotted around the map?

Definitely try adjusting TV settings then.

What's your stats guys? Like basic ones.

Level 10:
DPS Silver Sword: 278
DPS Steel Sword: 229
Armor: 92
Sign Intensity: +35%
Vitality: 4300

Edit: Think I had some buffs on the signs when I took these.

That, and notice boards in villages / towns. I don't even know where I've found half of mine if I'm honest. I just talk to people and explore a fair bit anyway.

Ah right, cheers man. Think I may have missed a few side quests in the first area of the game in that case. I cleared all of the yellow exclamation marks and question marks on the map after killing the Griffin and moving onto the next area though.

I've only just finished White Orchard. Trying to play as little of the game as possible until I get my GTX 970, it's proving difficult so far.

Btw, opening up and "reading" some of the books you find activates some quests and some bestiary additions.

I don't think the size of the world os actually too crazy it's just the amount of things to do. Seems to be something around every corner.

I can get back to playing this today finally. Still in Velen, I intend to take it very slowly and do as many side quests as possible, they're too good to miss out.

I'm finding Witcher 3 very good, I don't tend to buy into hype which such games as Destiny which I knew wasn't going to interest me but Witcher 3 seems to have the right depth to it

Redid that noonwraith thing this morning and it worked this time.

Couple of things bugging me. Pressing X to do things like talking to people and getting on your horse is very unresponsive. Also I feel overwhelmed by the amount of loot I'm getting and I don't know what to do with any of it.

Yeah the interact button is shite. Especially when you want to loot something and there is a candle nearby, always end up igniting it/extinguishing it instead of actually grabbing the loot (or going up and down ladders).

With the stuff you grab though, either just hold on to it if its crafting/alchemy stuff, or sell/dismantle it at a blacksmith or armorsmith if it's weaker weapons/armor or just the random things.

I am about to speak to vesimir and leave White Orchard. Before I do, something has been bugging me for a while now.
That very first merchant near the bridge you speak to when entering White Orchard has been lying on the ground sprawling about ever since the first time I accessed his shop. Can't talk to him so what's up with that? I'm wondering if he has anything I can't buy later in the game.

I very much doubt it, you can go back to White Orchard anyway.

A little later on, IIRC.

Which quest? I didn't like Skellige much.
