The mini map is very helpful on this game. One of the best I've seen in an RPG game, although I'm pretty much an above average casual RPG player.I hope they've fixed the map for witcher 3. I've spent 10 mins running around in witcher 2 trying to find someone. So frustrating and the quest markers are zero help
I've played loads of RPG's and have never managed to get so lost before like I have in Vergen for Witcher 2. The city design/quest marker is absolutely terrible. Ok new updates, been clearing through the game on hard so im probably not as far in as many of you yet:
-If you can master dodge, not roll, then dodge your way through almost every battle. It is legendary at allowing you to sneak in 3 - 5 strikes after your enemy misses. Ive yet to master it, so ive been rolling and taking ages with fights.
-Still cant get a hang of the game gwent.
-Each "main quest" really does feel important.
-Money was an issue to me, found some exploits, not cheats, but exploits. Not gonna share em here, but if you really wanna know, pm me.
-Food was an issue as well, one of the exploits above also included getting some foodzies.
-The camera can be really annoying in battles where you're rolling around everywhere, getting tangled on a solitary tree cuz you cant feckin see it.
-Oils, oils oils. I dont mean massage oils. Once you craft, thats it, no need to re-craft. Its there, you just replenish it with meditation. Use your oils on the correct monsters, and attack every monster using their weaknesses against them. Sounds obvious i know, but it does make a difference.
Playing on hard is a bitch, but its addictive.
I'm currently stuck on a mission... I've got 2 choices, replay over and over and over... or lower the difficulty which I am not prepared to do, getting surrounded is seriously pissing me off. Wraiths just take the piss on hard, everytime you get 1/4 of them down on health they spawn out and let one with full health spawn in.
I don't find groups of wraiths too bad just make sure you are constantly dodging. If you keep dodging like a lunatic they will almost never hit you. Just sneak in a few hits while you can. I had more trouble last night with packs of rottfiends. What kept happening is that I'd get one down to exploding range just as another would lunge in and stun me, then I'd be stuck in the blast radius.
3 wraiths is fine, 6 of them is insane, especially in a tight place. Done it just now though thank god, had a rest from it for a while and came back, used some ability points, and managed it after a couple more go's. It really is annoying when you get stuck like that though, no way to quit out the quest, I was lucky I had some stuff on me.
Think I'm going to craft everything now, going to have to get everything I need and just craft away.
Yeah tight spaces are a killer. I need to start taking crafting more seriously too, my gear is still pretty shit. I've got so much bloody stuff in my alchemy and crafting inventory slot but never seem to have all of the right components to build anything! That screen is a bit overwhelming actually. It's nigh on impossible to actually know which loot items are going to be useful for crafting etc when picking them up. The difference between buy/sell value at merchants is so vast I'm always wary to sell anything in case I need it for a diagram later on. The merchants buy/sell difference is actually too stark in my opinion.
Just encountered an awful potentially game breaking glitch. My stamina bar is completely depleted and as a result I can't cast signs. Looks like a few people have similar issues judging by the stuff on other forums but no solution. I guess I'll just have to hope and wait a patch is imminent soon, else I'll have to use a save 7 levels back.
PS4. Is there any potion that replenishes stamina? I've tried meditating constantly, restarting, potions of clearance to reset my skill points... Nothing. What platform is this? Anybody figured out how/why it happens. Can you not use a potion to replenish?

Ah yeah, I have that. I'll try it later when I stick it back on, cheers.Tawny owl "accelerates" regen of stamina, worth a shot.
Hope I don't run into this problem, if so I will be absolutely livid. Took me long enough to get as far as I currently am.
Also, they should clearly release Gwent as an online game.

@One Night Only
It worked. You are a beautiful man. Although it doesn't regen by itself, I have to keep scoffing the potions for it. Thanks, a lot.
Can anyone explain the adrenaline for me? I still havent found a use for them or a way to activate them when they accumulate.
Im level 6.
Shit starts to get real once you unlock the sword aoe abilities
Wraiths are quite easy, the ones that piss me off are drowners, proper dodge-fest there.
Wraiths just add specter oil to your sword, then hit them no more than 4 times (fast attacks), then roll do not dodge them.
Im playing it on hard as well, it does take the piss with the attacks but i dont wanna lower the difficulty, its making the game awesome.
Which abilities are you talking about? :s
I think when you're in battle and you hit them a couple times you get an adrenaline point, which adds extra damage. When you get hit you lose it I think? :s
Where about are you upto? (spoiler it). Wraiths are easy unless there are a ton of them, that was my problem.
Hmm.. i think there are certain abilities you can activate via the adrenaline points, but i havent a clue which ones yet. Yes there are certain abilities on the upgrade tree that adds extra damage, but any idea of any new "moves" or finishers?
Basically did the white orchard starting quests, ditched any side quests cuz i wanted to see for myself how huge the world was. Its big, but ive played MMORPGs so id say its big enough, not too big and not too small.
Then, i noticed that certain side enemies were becoming a bitch to kill, i was being two shotted so i decided to quest around, kill some low level bandits, make money, learn the fight mechanics cuz im using a keyboard and mouse, find some hidden treasures (there plenty of crafting diagrams and alchemy stuff that are cool to make hidden around) and did some quick quests that were "on the way" of those small things i was doing.
Lo and behold i was level 6, havent reached Novigrad yet but have turned to main quests, finished off the devil in the well, and the one with Keira in the cave, but found it to be finally appropriate at the level im in. When a game gets TOO hard, u start to get annoyed. At this level, with the serpent / viper gear ive crafted, its finally appropriate and enjoyable.
I highly suggest tackling the game this way if you're playing hard mode.
Oh, and get food and potions and oils, a lot of food and alcohest.
I'm a little bit further than you I think, you'll know the wraith bit when you get to it I've only crafted one of the serpent items iirc. Got something better to craft now though I think.
Bloody Baron, Botchling? Ring a bell? Because the Wraiths there fcuked me up on the story and sword difficulty. Can't imagine how annoying they are on Death March.
Who did you battle for the Ciri card? I've not come across that one yet.
The Novigrad part of the Gwent questline. Very last guy, he'an elf.
