I agree with you. If anything, the way the shows develop, the viewer has more of an affinity with certain bad guys - the loveable rogues, and all that. Omar, for example, is my favourite from The Wire.
The Wire and The Sopranos are my two favourite shows of all time, and it pisses me off when people start to compare. Two brilliant, and different, TV shows. No need to say which is better.
Loveable rogues is right man. McNulty, although being a cop - he was just dodgy as the dudes he was after eh, especially that homeless guy scenario - pure genius dodgy shit. Definitely the role of a life-time for him, West was excellent. The whole cast was excellent while i'm at it.
Omar was class man, one of my favourites too. So cool, tough & bittuva Robin Hood type of character & the twist that he was gay was a stroke of genius too. Omar would feck you up in my more ways than one thats for sure
McNulty & Bunk doin that scene in a kitchen after a murder, where they say nothing but swear, was funny as feck. Remember the Mayor (i think) always saying
"Shiiiiiit", then he rips the complete balls out of it by saying
shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit? That was an absolutely golden moment. I must have watched that scene about 10 times before i moved on
That scene where they were tryin to shift a cabinet out of that basement was something else too - where yer man was pushin it against the other lads instead of pulling & Lester was sayin nothing but laugh to himself. So many classic scenes in that show
. It most definitely put Baltimore on the map thats for sure!
Its hard to see a show like the Wire of Soprano's ever replicated again, where do you even start to attempt it to be honest. Its no great surprise that anyone who loves The Wire & The Soprano's, also loves Breaking Bad - probably the three best tv shows ever made - all three being so unique with fantastic storylines & characters!
