Television The Wire

I thought Bodie murdered some poor kid in the first season?

May be wrong.

As much as he did, there was reasoning to that and he certainly wouldn't have done it if he was simply annoyed. Compared to some of the other characters he certainly wasn't a psycho.

This fecking show is the single greatest thing that has ever existed. I've watched so much of it recently, it's been making its way into my dreams and everything.

Just finished series 5. Despite the last series being well below the standard of the others, series 4 especially, I didn't want it to end. Superb.

The only down side is that most other cop shows now seem stupid and unrealistic.

It's the most realistic cop show I have ever seen. It does definitely make everything else look stupid in comparison.

What i love about both shows is that they're complete opposites & you root for both sets of characters. Absoloutely hypocritical i know, but thats show business eh?!

I agree with you. If anything, the way the shows develop, the viewer has more of an affinity with certain bad guys - the loveable rogues, and all that. Omar, for example, is my favourite from The Wire.

The Wire and The Sopranos are my two favourite shows of all time, and it pisses me off when people start to compare. Two brilliant, and different, TV shows. No need to say which is better.

Its a classic case of Cops & Robbers. I watched both boxsets at same time too, which was wicked. Spoiled for choice i guess!

Totally agree about best tv shows ever & you can add Breaking Bad into that aswell. It kinda has elements of both shows, with the Hank cop-sideshow & all that jazz..

Loveable rogues is right man. McNulty, although being a cop - he was just dodgy as the dudes he was after eh, especially that homeless guy scenario - pure genius dodgy shit. Definitely the role of a life-time for him, West was excellent. The whole cast was excellent while i'm at it.

Omar was class man, one of my favourites too. So cool, tough & bittuva Robin Hood type of character & the twist that he was gay was a stroke of genius too. Omar would feck you up in my more ways than one thats for sure :nervous:

McNulty & Bunk doin that scene in a kitchen after a murder, where they say nothing but swear, was funny as feck. Remember the Mayor (i think) always saying "Shiiiiiit", then he rips the complete balls out of it by saying shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit? That was an absolutely golden moment. I must have watched that scene about 10 times before i moved on

That scene where they were tryin to shift a cabinet out of that basement was something else too - where yer man was pushin it against the other lads instead of pulling & Lester was sayin nothing but laugh to himself. So many classic scenes in that show :D. It most definitely put Baltimore on the map thats for sure!

Its hard to see a show like the Wire of Soprano's ever replicated again, where do you even start to attempt it to be honest. Its no great surprise that anyone who loves The Wire & The Soprano's, also loves Breaking Bad - probably the three best tv shows ever made - all three being so unique with fantastic storylines & characters!

On a feckin' stairmaster?

On a feckin' stairmaster

Only noticed the other week that Omar is in The Sopranos. He's the guy that owns the house that Jacke Aprille stays at when he's in hiding.

300 was on not long as well and it was fecking weird seeing McNulty in that.

Bodie made a brief appearance in Sopranos Season 1 as well when he tries to rob a truck with yer man Christopher was robbing with.

Finished Season 4 tonight. Is Season 5 really that bad?

Supposedly HBO wanted them to move it from 4:3 to 16:9 for season 3 onwards but David Simon refused, because he didn't want to change much about the show.

I feel this was a mistake and is the reason this show isn't as good as Prison Break.

Please let this be a wind up.

last night i finished season 2... fecking great... the end of the before-last episode, with the greek music and shit... epic secuence.

play this very loud!! good shit.

dont watch this video if u havent seen the second season yet...

Nah, The Wire is much better. The subtle differences in The Wire is what defines the show. The Wire is GOAT.

disagree. It's a bazillions times better.

For one, the prisons are cooler.

I still genuinely don't know if you're on a wind up or not. Hard to tell on the caf nowadays.

Prison Break had one good season and then jumped the shark.

Gah, and I'm starting it now. I hope it isn't as bad as people say.

Prison Break jumped the shark in development.

The Wire series 5 is only poor in comparison to what came before.

Prison Break season 1 was amazing... almost GOD level. Should have ended there. The rest is crap.

The Wire looks AWESOME so far (2 first seasons). Will finish very soon, addicted.

HBO quality.

It was stupid and unbelievable. I gave up very early on.

Prison Break is a top 5 show of all time, if it wasn't for the ending, probably at the top. Who wants real drama? I can turn on the news for that, give me the ridiculous and insane any day of the week.

nah, was nothing less than amazing. GOD level is exaggerated, but as a single season, was very very good.

Of course you can found some flaws, like with any tv show, but if you look at the whole picture, that one season was quality entertaining tv.

Yeah you can find some flaws, in any given minute of the show. Which is what makes it so unique and special.

The Wire didn't jump sharks until S05, at which point it thought feck it and leapt a sharknado.

I wasn't anywhere near that bad. Nowhere near the other seasons, especially S4, but not terrible despite a few dubious plot elements.

The whole premise was stupid IMO. The tattoo map in particular.

Season 5 was a dip in form. That's not exactly jumping the shark, it didn't change it's focus or what it was about in a cheap attempt to gain viewership or appease to certain execs.

I'm finding a hard time seperating Seasons 2/3/4. Love them all in their own ways.

Season 2 was good too with Mahone chasing the convicts. After that ..... It went to shit Dexter style.

I remember hating season 2 and liking Season 3....and then I gave up 2 episodes into season 4 with the dickhead of a agent they were working for. I just wanted to punch that actors face.
