Television The Walking Dead

I found the firework scene hilarious. I mean come on ffs. I was in stitches.

Same here. I think my exact reaction was "Wait, she's not gonna....for feck sake."

That little immersion breaking mortar strike aside, I thought it was a great episode. Was convinced they were going to kill off Bob at the beginning for an early shock and then I thought Tyreese was going to die. Didn't think he'd make it out of another Walker swarm but D'Angelo and Cutty are safe so it's all good.

Intense episode, I like it, although the few minutes of Tyrese wimping the fecking place up nearly made me want to smash up my tv, grow a fecking pair and stop moping around you cnut. Anyway, the next episodes will need to set up a new narrative so there'll be less action for a while, but I hope they at least keep a good tempo. The lack of which ruined the last few seasons.

Typical! Glen survives! they start at the other end executing 4 random blokes, then it gets to him (interruption) "hey!.. shot count???" they try again.. (explosion) just kill Glen off and it would have made the best opening scene ever.

That would of made a great finale in season 4 had they some of the pointless stuff but it made for great opening episode. Hopefully they keep on the move and we don't see these individual soul searching episodes they throw in along the middle, they also need to make the zombies relevant and dangerous again like tonight. They made a joke out of them at times last season.

Do you guys get talking dead in the UK? They said on that some shit about getting to know the characters past and getting to know their stories, so that'll likely be some waste of time shit.

They should have listened to Rick and gone back and kill every one of those Terminus citizens that the zombies didn't get. Sad story of why they became so cold but still not a good enough reason to start eating people.

Whatever happened to the blond girl? Not the little psycho who was offed by carol, but the other one who was hanging out with Daryl last season?

Got kidnapped. Assume in the next episode or two that will be cleared up.

Thought the next episode is about the group finding Carver in the Church. Also, didnt she get kidnapped midway through last season? The group seems to have forgotten all about her and the writer probably hope the audience also forgets about her

Just sums up how fecking pointless season 4 was. Most of season 4 was spent getting to Terminus for it to be destroyed in the first episode of season 5

Still, I really enjoyed that & I didn't despise Carol for once, hopefully it'll put the series back on track now. Nice to see Lenny James make a return too.

What? I must have missed that

Just googled, I turned it off at the end of the next episode preview, how annoying, just seen it on YouTube, makes he episode even better

Daryl told Maggie in the premiere that she was kidnapped. You missed it because the camera was focused on Rick. But you can hear him in the background explaining what happened. But yeah, there is a lack of concern for her I guess.

Daryl thinks she was kidnapped, but didn't she drive off in the car when she thought Daryl was going to be eaten/attacked?

It was good, but the opening episodes tend to be. The key now it to not descend into boring, sloppy melodrama like they usually do.

Carol really knows her way around a firework and angles, I'll give her that.

Also, would a baseball bat to the head really be enough to stop those guys turning at the start?

@gaz1185 don't fecking mention future plots you've seen in previews unless it's in spoilers. You've been warned.

I'll be a total nazi in this thread if people don't follow the simple rules.

Maggie is just an awful sister. Poor little Glenn is all that matters now, I don't know if she even remembers she has a sister.

I think that was more to knock them out, so that they didn't feel their throat being slashed/fight back?. Unless they damaged their brain it wouldn't stop them turning.

Yes, so why the feck didn't they turn then? Seems like a bit of a plot hole to moi.

Meh, maybe they did but they just didn't show it. I know what your saying though!

What? When? It was in the "next week on TWD", no? That's not part of the episode.
No it wasn't on that, that shown something completely different. If you waited for the credits to roll there was an additional scene to the episode.

Really?

Well that's mind-bendingly dumb, show the "next week on" first and then an extra scene from the episode?

Did you watch it from the American channel? That would explain the "next week" thing being shown first. I watched it on Fox last night so it doesn't have that, this scene just appeared straight after the credits.
There was something right at the end under the caption 'Then'. Don't recollect if
Lenny James
was in it.
No, not that. That was pre-credits

Yep, I watched it on Fox too and you are correct. Was odd the way they did it, I bet many people switched off before they saw it.

Yeah I thought that, TWD has never had post-credit scenes so I'm not sure why they decided to do it that way last night (just as bizarre as deciding to show the new episode all over again straight after it finished). Luckily I was just loitering around after it finished and caught that scene.

On the plus side, they've certainly amped the gore up slightly more. Those beginning scenes were quite shock, and some of the new make up / zombie eating scenes were pretty graphic. All good!

I thought it was Oswald Cobblepot (if anyone is watching Gotham atm) who was first to have his throat slit by the Terminus folk, I totally forgot he also made a brief appearance in season 4 as Sam.

I don't really remember but she definitely didn't just drive away. I remember Daryl chasing the car for a little bit.
