Television The Walking Dead

I really don't understand why they keep trying to create characters that don't know how to defend themselves. In the world they live, everyone would have learnt by now or been killed.

Everyone should be incredibly effective at dealing with zombies now but they're still quite spastic at it.

Exactly. How hard is it to walk at a leisurely pace and listen for growling??

I've really lowered my expectation to the bare minimum, I don't even criticize the show because there is nothing good about it basically. Just wondering where we're going with these episodes. Do the writers even have a clue ?

I've not been one to jump on the hate campaign, but by Christ, that episode was God awful.

EDIT: I am also only halfway through the episode and I will categorically state now how shit that was.

The zombies of the corn was a nice homage to a similarly shite horror film. I mean, christ, the scientist sprays bullets into the gas tank. It was just ridiculously stupid. I mean, insult-my-intelligence stupid. Zombies come at you like crippled grannies and he's panicking like a little girl.

I noticed during the firefight that the lezzer has quite nice jubbs though.

One thing that seriously pisses me off (that probably doesn't get said enough) is the characters attire. You've got the sargaent bloke with his arms fully exposed, the latino dressed like Lara Croft and to top it off you've got a stereotypical, nerdy scientist who happens to have a ridiculous mullet.

Just can't take any of these characters seriously. Don't know why I persist with this show, contrary to popular belief, I found the prison episodes more exciting than these on the road scenes - for the most part anyway. These episodes are just painfully dull. I mean the majority of Ricks screentime this episode was spent under a bed.

The one thing I have enjoyed so far in the second half of the season is Glens intuition with the Molotov, certainly makes a refreshing change. I think the only reasons I watch this are because of how far the show is in and zombies shows/films still have some semblance of intrigue.

I think this is because it's based off a comic. The characters are bound to have a cartoony gimmicky feel to some of them.

Might just be me, but I thought it was a cracking episode. I've stopped trying to rationalize everything and I just want episodes with drama and tension. This had plenty of tension for me. Michonne happening upon that room full of corpses, Rick sneaking out of the house, good stuff. Simple but effective. The show's at its best when it stops trying to be something special and just delivers tpyical, 28 Days Later style zombie apocalypse stuff. Long may it continue.

One of the shows ever increasing flaws with each passing season is how the zombies have turned to mere gimmicks and more importantly - the lack of tension in the show.

I don't want to sound like I'm going off on a tangent or rant, but the positives in the show are so rare. From dialogue, characters, acting, storylines, realism. There are so many disposable characters, I just dont give a shit about those three characters they've introduced, or Tara for that matter. Hershel was one of the few decent characters and they killed him, so that leaves pretty much just Rick.

This show reminds me of being asked to write a story for English class in school. I'd at least have some kind of premise at the beginning, but by the second page I'd just start waffling as I had no real idea where the story was heading. I'd continue to waffle as I tried to eek out enough pages deemed acceptable by myself, then I'd wrap it up in the easiest way possible. The Walking Dead is trapped in the waffle/eek out period. It's completely and utterly pointless, but I keep watching it, and lately I suspect it's purely because I don't want to miss Karl's death. Surely they have to kill off this talentless feck-wit sooner rather than later?

I hope that new hot girl survives for a bit. Quality.

When T-Dawg 4 or is it 5 hugged shit-hair woman after she rescued them did he know that it was her who burned up his bitch? I can't remember.

Nah, he doesn't know yet. Hopefully he kills her when he finds out.

I love how nobody can ever remember anybody's name apart from the people from the first season
Just shows how shit of a job they do at bringing people into the show.

Have you ever been to Georgia? It's ridiculously hot and humid.

I like how the black man went from sleeping on a bed to getting choked out so the white man could sleep on it instead, summed up the show nicely.

If this scientist is represented as accurately as in the comics then his stupidity has just begun its display.

Watch or don't watch but whinging and carrying on watching is a bit silly.
Probably yes. I think that I am done with it (haven't watched the last 3 episodes) but on the other hand I want some closure. However it is difficult continue watching it for a few other seasons. Basically after the second season it isn't a good TV show.

I think it is great. Brainless but great. If you expect total logic then zombie stories are always utter bollocks so I just go along for the ride.

If you want closure, pretend the mid-season finale was the final episode and make up in your mind what happened to the characters from there.

It's so easy to watch stuff these days it makes it harder to let a show go. Years ago, you either had to tune it at the right time every week, record it, or actually buy it. When something turned shit people stopped watching. These days all you have to do is download it, and can watch it anytime, even on the train ride to work on your phone, or whatever.

I loved this show for the first two seasons, but there's no denying it's taken a turn for the worse now. Even though I can laugh at some of the awful things about it (the aimless plot, Karl's acting etc..) I still enjoy the general premise of the show (I like any kind of post apocalyptic show/movie tbh). There will always be some point in my week where I'm bored enough to watch it, half expecting it to get better.

The show needs some kind of substantial direction to lean in now, and maybe this new safe haven will be it. You'd think after all this time some reasonably intelligent people would manage to have emerged from the 'Oh look there's a bad guy/zombie let's fight/run and scream a lot' phase, but these guys just can't shake it. In my opinion they should try to go down the 'lets look for a cure' route, that might be a bit more interesting.

That really was a pointless episode. Basically nothing of note acually happened. It seems like the writers decide they want to develop characters better and then just doing it badly and lump it all into a single episode. Get a few of these every season now.

I'm with you Wibbs, I can't see why people are tuning into this expecting it to be The Wire or Breaking Bad, just take it for what it is. None of the Romero films were that deep or insightful either folks, just great brain dead entertainment with a little social commentary thrown in.

Why did they have to let T-dog die :( Lori I could even deal with, I can see Carl turning into a little shit now.

The fact Andrea lives, and T-dog dies, ugh.

Just waiting on an episode when Rick kills The Governor, I hate that dude already. I also have a sneaking suspicion that Daryl will kill his brother.

If on the final episode, Rick wakes up on his hospital bed surrounded by Lori, Carl, and Shane. With all the other characters being hospital workers, T Dog is a nurse, Meryl and Daryl are in the bed next to him, etc.

I will kill somebody

Oh man, you're going to hate Season 4. It's exactly that in the first episode and for the rest of the season it's basically scrubs. One of the T-Dogs is Turk. Hershel is Dr. Kelso. And When Rick/JD goes off on his inner-monologues it just drives me crazy. Shane as Todd was excellent casting though.

How far in are you then?

And he's always been a little shit

Yer man just got his eye cut off, and the brothers are about to be murdered in that town, but I know Daryl survives.
