Television The Walking Dead

I watched two or three eps this season and then just stopped. I've been the most ardent critic of those who stop watching a show part-way through, however, when I think that i've not even started Mad Men yet..........

I don't get it; they've got source material to borrow from; good source material at that.

My understanding is that the original showrunner(s) left production prior to half-way of the second season. Current showrunners don't know how to create engaging sub-plots and write character development. I wouldn't mind the "filler" episodes more if the dialogue and plot were to be more interesting. I hope ratings drop on this to the point that AMC look to bringing some new people behind development moving forward. This show can be redeemed but someone needs to know where they're going.

The original showrunner is part of the reason we had the worst season of the show by far, season 2. The current showrunners are actually being faithful to the comics for the most part.

Oh look. Daryl and that pointless character no one likes ruined what was a perfectly working plan. How unexpected.
:D Now all they need to do to escape is use an emergency exit because there are no walkers outside anymore :D Brilliant decision making as always.

Is this weeks episode worth watching? Starting to get bored of it

You have shit characters who speak like idiots and like nobody actually living does, for the most part.
And then stupid decisions made for the sake of plot rather than logical decisions you would see.

Also can anybody explain what Ricks plan was? Why does he need 20 people who talk like idiots to join his team, after hes been betrayed by them, almost killed by them (three times), and they almost got his son killed.

Really wanted Rick to make one of his demands that she speak in a complete sentence. Her head would explode if she met Eugene.

I will tune in every single week just in hope of seeing Eugene die one of the most brutal deaths in television history.

I absolutely hate this fecker. Based on him being a massively annoying cnut don't be surprised if he's the sole survivor at the end of the show

I ended up missing most of what Eugene said in this episode as his voice and words just went in one ear out the other. It's like he's talking in riddles all the time. He'd give Yoda a run for his money.
He's not a character you base a whole episode around, hope Negan clubs him to a violent and gruesome death.
Also I don't want to see him 'hulking up' again.

Also I was thinking that Rick's hand recovered easily.

Tara when firing the machine gun didn't even have any kind of reaction, surely she's at least blink from the force of the shots being fired.

It's infuriating viewing. I feel genuinely irritated after that episode. Problem is I've already wasted so many hours watching up to this point, I can't bring myself to stop.

That's called the Lost syndrome

Lost imo was better than this. By miles. I felt disappointment at the end though.
This I feel disappointment whilst watching it.

I love Lost. One of my favourite shows despite all the flaws. At least the dialogue in Lost is bearable. The Walking Dead has too many nonsensical rants where people speak in riddles in a ridiculously hushed tone.

Also, I think they should have killed Darryl instead of Glenn/Abraham. Would have been way more impactful and considering how the popularity in Daryl as a character has declined they won't get that chance again.

Always find ways for characters to do some stupid shit just to prolong the show , Eugene, Darryl and that girl can all die .

That's it, I quit.
Starting to think I will. This show has taken a massive dive in quality since 2 seasons ago. FTWD is still okay but it's not as good as TWD was at the same juncture.

That fecking trash heap lady and her straight cut bangs needs to die.

For me so much of the problem is the sheer amount of characters. Why do they need so many?

In seasons 1 and 2, it was their little group with a few threats & moral dilemmas, and it worked beautifully.

Get Frank back, kill off 90% of the characters in this war and start again.

I agree with this. Honestly I'd love to see them peel the size of the group right back. We can do without Rosita and co.. everyone needs to die and get back to Rick, Carl (won't be too disappointed if he goes either), Carol, Michonne and Maggie. Unfortunately I'd be shocked if it played out like that. These big groups and communities etc.. take all the zombie threat away and mean its just repeatedly team Rick vs team Bad Guy and getting stupider and stupider. Those thrash people need fast wiping out for a start, like next episode.

Lost always kept me enthralled and whilst it did get worse I was always looking forward to the next episode, plus, to be fair to them, they did always say it would be six seasons.

This on the other hand went downhill fast and the writers have completely milked its popularity dry to the point where it's almost embarrassing how awful it is. I'm glad I stopped watching it. Maybe if they ever do do a final season I'll watch a recap and then watch that because I actually think there is good 'end game' potential in TWD if they ever actually bother. Although I wouldn't be surprised if the actors are all OAP's by that time and the title is more relevant to them than the actual zombies.

Will this show ever end? I honestly can't see where it's going so they can easily make another 3 seasons at least.

What's with the dump people talking like idiots? It's been what, 5 years since it all began? (guessing). It's not like you lose the ability to talk, especially when you're in a community ffs.

What was the whole Rick being locked up in the container arc for? They kept him there, drew him and then tried to kill him with a zombie on a stick? Literally what. There was no point to any of it. You could’ve just had Rick walk in ask them to join and they say yes and the story would be no different.

It's gone all shit hasn't it? These are supposedly hardened zombie apocalypse survivors and they keep making silly decisions just to drive the nonsensical plots the show runners are conjuring up to milk the series for all of it's worth.

It's lost all the tension and drama it had in it's heyday. When Rick got caught and locked in that container, I was sure they'd let him out and he'd find some way to go home. When the two Saviours were getting away with the speaker van thing, I was sure they wouldn't get that far.

Those garbage people do my head in as well. No way any one group all talks like that, not even after 7 years of being in a zombie apocalypse. It makes no sense at all.

Looked to me like a desperate ditch to generate some interest and buzz. I actually don't mind the decision to kill Carl off but I would have had Negan do it to bring back the old psychotic Rick.

They all deserve to die for being stupid. They are in situations cos of their own stupidity. Rick killed Shane cos he was putting him and the group in danger. Daryl is even worse. hes the reason Glenn died, and lets be honest, the reason the Saviours got out as much as they dont want to frame it that way in the episode. Hes reckless, does stupid shit, then cries like a bitch.
And then Rosita goes, nah its cool, I made a mistake too that got Sasha killed, so youre forgiven.

You gotta give TWD props for how they make a death obvious. The character talks about 'the right way' 'the moral ground' 'ethics' etc, and then the episode focuses on them... then... dead. (or going to be dead).
If there was balance it would be better told.
(would be great if they did a copout and it was actually a bite from oneo f the saviours haha)

Funniest moment was Rick getting Negan down, having his bat, and instead turning the bat to the handle to prod Negan in the head with it before trying to go for the gun to kill him. What?
Or after all that time wasted getting the garbage people they just... run away

Also I swear Ezekials guy, Carol and Rick were all in a car. They were escaping and it was hit. Then next thing we see, Ezekials guy is captured, but nothing is wrong with Carol and nothing is wrong with Rick? Did I miss something? (admittingly I wasnt paying full attention)

I see a few are still watching, Is anyone still enjoying it though?

It seems a lot of hate watching or watching with the hope we might get something good given all the time invested.

They all went their separate ways before that, Rick to Alexandria, Carol to Kingdom and Jerry to Hilltop, likely to warn each community.

Hopefully you do. I watched from the start but was at my wits end last season and 3 episodes into this season I was done.

Forgot about the garbage people running away. Entire plotline made even more irrelevant

Have Rick just take a bit longer to get to the Saviour's compound and realise they're not trapped anymore and the story is exactly the same.
