Yeah. But they definitely could have got more material from the outbreak. I mean there would have been absolute pandamonium in a city like LA. They showed a couple of riots, them being kept in a compound and now we're basically at TWD stage again. They missed the boat in terms of the potential they had for a great show.
I hope we won't see these annoying philosophical bullshit dialogues anymore in season 7 with people feeling guilty about all kinds of irrelevant crap. This was very prevalent in season 5 and 6. Time to pace things up a bit.
Yeah the philosophical nonsense has gotten really old, most of the people on the show are far too stupid for anyone to care about their thoughts on such things anyway. These are people that will stop for a chat in the middle of a zombie horde or put on their best jeans and cowboy boots to go sneaking around and scavenging.
I knew how the episode would end thanks to spoiling dead, I had hoped they were wrong but it followed track even the speech by Negan. Incidentally in Ep. 15 when Morgan first sees the guy in armour looking for his horse, when he ran off did anyone else think Monty Python?
Well, in reality the bad guy would most likely kill the leader of the group (in this case Rick) to get his point across, put a fear in the rest and get them all to subdue and recognize his authority (Cue Cartman jokes). Keeping Rick alive doesn't make sense for Negan for many reasons.
As for the series, the writing is getting worse the longer it goes on. I find hard to root for anybody at that point. Even the characters that were kind of interesting, like Daryl, Carol, Glen, Maggie or Michonne have turned into caricatures of themselves and I probably wouldn't care if they were all gone. There are a few who were godawful throughout, ( Carl being the prime candidate) and should have been eaten by a pack of zombies long ago and it would have made the show more watchable. The only two people who have something going in terms of character development or at least express some sort of personality are Abraham and Eugene.

I agree, which is ironic, because they're probably two of the most cartoonish characters.
I don't know how true it is but a colleague in TV who claims to have inside info (and apparently some of this has already been leaked) says that the reason for the mess at the end of this season was that Daryl had got so fed up with his character that he'd asked to leave. So they'd already prepared to write him out. He had a last minute change of heart and because he's such a fan favourite, the producers kept him on. But they had to do reshoots, rewrites etc and it buggered up the last few episodes. How true that is, I don't know.

Agree FTWD could have been done better, I think they tried to focus too much on the angle that people like the main characters were left without any contact with the outside world in a fenced-in community, where they assumed they would stay for a few weeks till the government/military sorted things out before it all went back to normal. This aspect was good in that the tension was cranked up, but the show would probably have benefited from showing scenes of what was actually happening in the "outside world" and showing the events that led up to the army evacuating and leaving people behind. It would have added to the tension showing the people in the safe zone sitting waiting for things to get back to normal while showing scenes of civilisation falling apart outside the fences.
Eugene only told Abraham & Rick about the plans for his ammunition factory didn't he? And gave his plans to Rick? I'm guessing they'll agree to go back to Alexandria and give away half away their stuff but keep the gun factory secret from Negan and that's how they'll get their arsenal back.

That is puzzling, how could a group of Negan's size exist and they had no idea until now?
Id be fine with it if the ending of the finale was better exectued.

Well in all fairness they did know. They just didn't know how strong the group was. They will all live in a place like Alexandria or sanctuary you think so they could easily miss each other.

Exactly, it's this giant, ruthless army that take everybody else's shit yet Dave and co. have been jollying around the area of Alexandria for ages now and never come across them.
If it helps, i'm sure the producers have said before that they won't be sticking to the comic book plot as far as Negan goes, so it's still all up in the air.

I still find it strange no one has even heard of a group this size till now, even the scout guy for Alexandria?
You'd think a place like Alexandria, which looks great from the outside would be one of the first places they hit up for money.
Having said all that Id be cool giving that a pass if the ending had delivered, IMO it was a cheap ratings grab....why have a 90 minute season finale with a stupid cliffhanger like that? The episode was actually going really well up to that point, it was one of the most tense episodes of TWD to date.
Not sure about that at all, if Negan thought they were an easy target he would have attached earlier as they have both accommodation and resources that he and his gang can use,

I remember when Negan first came out he said something along the lines of him needing Rick and his group as part of his plan.
Before Rick showed up at Alexandria, the group there posed no threat to him & the Saviors and would've eventually found themselves vulnerable to the walkers or the Wolves anyway, hence there wasn't an immediate need to get them to "work" for him.
He clearly has far bigger and wide reaching accomodation than we realise, and at the time probably had more resources too.
Plus a large period of time has passed since Rick & co came to Alexandria to begin with, we don't know if Negan's group was even half as big as it is now, back then.
I think they missed the mark on this one, big time. They missed an opportunity to have their own GoT Season 4 Episode 8 moment... just sheer, brutal violence committed upon one of the major characters on screen in full gory detail. The shock factor alone would keep the show in the viewers minds until next season... now most people are just annoyed.
Loved how they built up that last scene though.
Was incredibly bored by just about every other scene in the finale. That whole Enid/Carl thing, Bore-gan and Carol... am so tempted to fast forward through that nonsense.
I have finally managed to catch up (on a binge, annoying when there are some many references on the net) and i quite liked the ending. I can see it has pissed off a lot of people who already know the comic story line, but the fact they didn't show who died has spawned so much talk and speculation which what it supposed to do, going into new a season.
Unfortunately i know bits of the comic storyline so know who Negan was supposed kill, and if they follow through with that death and showed it i dont see there being the same amount of anticipation. We know we are going to see it when season 7 comes around.
As for the final episode, it was pretty boring while happening, but appreciate the pace after it had finished, given the sheer desperation of the situation they were leading into.
I am not really getting the arc of Carol, she seemed to just switch, from being totally cold. Whether it was the death of Sam that triggered it, it didn't really resonate. The arc is not a bad thing, but it just does not seem to be protrayed that well. Morgan did a much better job, even if we only saw a little of it.
I glad Morgan got more screen time and the parallels from the first season. He is the only character i really root for now, the rest of the mains are mild to extremely irritating.
Abraham.
I know people might feel cheated by this as he is not a major character, which would have been echoed, alot more had they actually shown it and we knew who it was, with that information to fester for 6 months.
Anyway the whole position he was in, the screen time he got in the last few episodes, the Orange crush references and the way he puffed his chest out at Negan and the person getting up from being hit in the head suggests its him. IMO
However.... i also think Glenn will get the chop as well in the first episode, if it was indeed not him in the finale, he would have cheated death twice now, and that will be the real shock as people would expect him to survive if it was not him getting his head smashed in by Negan (supposed to be him in the comic).

Right finally caught up and saw the finale. People moaning about it are daft, it was brilliant. My mrs also has figured something out that her filmmaking mind spotted. Don't know if anyone else has said it but here goes. I'll spoiler it because you all whinge to much.
So my Mrs pointed out something which I think makes great sense. The show told us who died. We were shown that first person POV throughout the episode, not just at the end when Negan wielded Lucille. From the very beginning of the episode in fact and numerous times throughout. We were shown that first person perspective and whistling going on through bullet holes in the van where Glen, Rosita, Michonne and Daryl were being held. Straight away that means we can rule out any of the rest. So we have our 4 main candidates now. From the first person view we can make out Daryl's hair at the bottom and they are in a central position in the van, when the doors open we see another persons hair in the middle less scraggly. Daryl is first out, ruling him out, Michonne is on the left of the interior, then it's Rosita who's lower (with her nice smooth hair ) which means the person viewing was behind Rosita ruling both her and Michonne out, leaving the only candidate available and their last day on earth, Glen.
Theory 2. If the hair is always Daryls then when the doors open we are above Daryll, and we see Michonne standing, then it has to be Michonne.
Also loved Carls seething hate look at Negan, no fretting, no trying to look proud, just a, I'm going to kill you look.

Unless they are going in a different direction from the comic, but Negan does not kill females, which should rule out Michonne. And if it was her, there would be more effect showing it as, without having a cliffhanger as no one would have expected it, the shock value would have been higher,m than waiting.
Anyway i think its Abraham, but Glenn also ends up getting it which would tie in the POV theory

Not Abraham, has to be someone inside the van. Negan not killing women is the comics and they've already said he's different in the series, also killing Michonne would make Negan the ultimate TV villain ever and it would go to explain why they got her and Rick together if they all knew she was leaving which would make sense as her future love interests won't matter then, while also flooring Rick and Carl
The reason I hated the cliffhanger was because its a cheap way to do a cliffhanger. Its a gimmick, rather than great storytelling. But then, I guess this is TWD so it was to be expected.
The more interesting story would be seeing who gets it, and then seeing Ricks reaction knowing he cant do shit, but wondering what he would do going forward.

Thats why i think its going to be two. Glenn, being the POV character. Having Negan kill a female would completely divert from his character in comic and Michonne has "uses" to him. Hes not a complete psycho like the governor. He values people of use to him and feeds off fear.
Abraham is muscle, which he has plenty of, and Glenn, unless he turns into a complete nut job, his arc is pretty much complete. Daryl is weak after being shot, and a fan favorite, so not much sense in killing him. That said the actor schedule is supposed to be full , so he might leave the show, but think he will be written out for a return at a later date.
If it was Michonne or Daryl, the shock value would be much higher, imo, if they actually showed it now, rather than wait for 6 months
