Television The Walking Dead

Man that was a bullshit ending. The episode was going along swimmingly before that. Total bullshit.

Yep. I've really enjoyed this series - but feck me what a letdown right at the end. Can't wait to see more of Negan mind you.

Definitely. Like you, I've enjoyed this series up till now. Negan was great, and so was Trevor Phillips (the last day on Earth guy), the Abraham/Eugene scene was touching and watching Rick slowly losing his shit roadblock after roadblock all made for a good finale. But they just had to end on not showing who actually got whacked.

It's not the waiting part that annoys me. It's the fact that there'll be leaks all over the internet for the next few months or so. Deaths as cliffhangers are outdated. One of the best things about Game of Thrones was the fact that SPOILER ALERT
the Red Wedding happened in the middle of the season and was so unexpected
.

Agree with everyone has said about the ending. I'm not even that interested in who died because I know it's nobody major, I'm more interested in how Rick and co. will get out of this one.

Yep exactly.

They start filming next month, so there's bound to be people stalking social media profiles, imdb credit listings, set photos, seeing if certain actors cut their hair/change facial hair, if they're working on other shows in a different part of America at the same time etc it's going to be ridiculous.

They ruined a great suspenseful ending of probably the best/most consistent season so far, with a cliffhanger as if the internet doesn't exist.

Trevor should be in everything tbf. You can never have too much Trevor.

Exactly. How they were gonna get out of it is cliffhanger enough. Such a shitty and ill thought through finale.

I suspect it will be somebody major!

So guys, we still have that Wolves group walking around, right? And who were those 2 guys transferred from the Medieval Ages?

Watching the bit when Negan swings the bat you can see the shadow outline of a cowboy hat on his jacket. Also the way it's filmed it looks like he's on the left for us (Negan's right).

Haven't the cast come out and said they don't know who is killed yet? So isn't all this conjecture just a waste of time - I think the writers/producers clearly dropped the ball and are desperately trying to work out how to make it right. So they've now given themselves a few month's breathing space.

 Oh yeah, they looked like they'd escaped from the set of Norman Jewisons Rollerball.

Pretty much yeah.

...Although the 2 people we can definitely rule out are Carl and Rick otherwise the line about him ripping out his other eye and feeding it to his Dad makes no sense at all. But then this is The Walking Dead we're talking about...

The frustrating thing is that in that episode there was the kernel of a really great finale. If you put aside the whole roadblock thing and being led into a trap which didn't make any sense, watching Rick crumble as he realised the size and scale of the disaster that he had personally led them into and the havoc he'd wreaked upon them was great to watch. That complete self belief in everything he was doing and had done just disappeared in front of his eyes. But the logical culmination of that is for him to see someone close to him die and for us to see his response to that. So to take that away from us so cheaply ... someone deserves to be shot for that decision.

I can imagine one of them showing up for season 7 only to find out they are surplus to requirements on the first day

I think Coral did tweet along those lines but I'm not sure I buy it. I don't think any cast members would be too happy if they missed out on other projects because the writers decided to cut them at the last minute with little forewarning. I'd say the writers and cast are well aware of who was on the end of Negan's bat... in an interview about the finale, Rick said that the cast had agreed not to talk about who the victim is.

Even now do you or anyone in the cast know who will die?

"Because it’s too painful and too intense, we made a pact on set that we won’t speak about it. I apologize but I can’t talk about it."

I agree completely. I'd heard rumours before the episode that this is what was going to happen but dismissed them as being such a stupid idea that it was just a bluff. Seems ratings are more important to them than creating something narratively satisfying and memorable.

Agreed I forgot to add that bit, the way the light is shinning in looks to be Aaron, Sasha or Eugene. Money on Eugene.

Nevermind shot, someone needs to be Lucille'd.

If Negan kills Daryll I'll be really pissed. Hurting Carl would be the best way to get back at Rick. I think it might be him. That would just be sick but effective in sending his message. Negan has the most annoying face reminds me of someone. I just want to scratch his eyeballs out.

He reminds me of Bruce waynes dad ;)

Yep, more of a cliffhanger would have been seeing the groups reaction and wondering what they would do to turn it around. If the season was flawless and the show built up credit (and had 7 strong seasons), I think people would be more forgiving tbh. But when your whole season builds upto that point, its really a letdown.

It isn't Carl. When Negan is about to clock ? with the bat, he says: "If anyone tries anything, take the boy's other eye out and feed it to his father.

Apparently there is footage around of the beating from another angle and you can make out who it is getting hit. This maybe some internet myth, but I haven't googled it because I don't want to spoil it.

I enjoyed the last episode and hadn't really thought about the cliff hanger negatively, until everyone else started banging on about it. My suspicion is that we'll be three or so eps into the new season before we find out who got it.

Imagine, the first episode just follows what happened back Alexandria.
Second episode follows Carol and Morgan
Third episode follows Negans group from their POV and ends on the cliffhanger again.
Then its revealed in the 4th episode

I hope we won't see these annoying philosophical bullshit dialogues anymore in season 7 with people feeling guilty about all kinds of irrelevant crap. This was very prevalent in season 5 and 6. Time to pace things up a bit.

It's definitely not Carl, nor is it Rick given by what Negan said at the end before he started pummelling whoever it was (probably Glenn or Abraham).

After watching The Talking Dead, I don't think it's Daryl or Maggie either.

They both still have the same hairstyles & didn't talk as though they weren't out of a job next season - that's my irrational theory and i'm sticking to it. :wenger:

My money is on Glenn. He already came back from the dead once, so maybe he won't escape this time.
I see Fear the Walking Dead season 2 starts next week, a longer run this time - 15 episodes. I re-watched season 1 recently, thought it was a bit slow first time round, enjoyed it more second time, the way the tension builds up, I kind of missed that first time around. i think a lot of the atmosphere centres around the way no-one knows what is really happening and the actual scale of it until the last episode when they start to realise the world is falling apart.

Has anybody said whether Carl or Rick are possibilities in this thread? :P

My problem with it was the jump in time and it seems to kinda catch up to TWD in terms of people knowing whats happening.

The actual ending I didn't mind, got no problem with leaving it open to guesses. Just the rest of the episode wasn't very interesting.

I was wondering too when the wolves would come back as they've never really done much with them yet.

Are the fellas in the hockey/lazer tag gear with the spears a new crowd? If so:
I guess it will be them who come to the rescue. Maybe they're the people from the "Library" as mentioned by that poor chap they hung from the bridge.

Quite aside from the last 5 minutes, I became irrationally angry as that episode progressed, at their seemingly deliberate ignoring of the fact they have a FECKING ROCKET LAUNCHER.

I also don't think Negan mentioning taking Carl's other eye necessarily means he is ruled out of being Lucille'd. In fact, you might argue the way he said "the boy" could mean he was standing in front of him. If it was him, it will be a little bit underwhelming in that 1. We didn't get to watch it happen properly and 2. Carl has hardly been involved enough to annoy us lately. If they had beaten him to death with a barbed club at the end of season 3, 4 or 5 there would have been dancing in the streets.

That finale was insulting. It's rightly getting slaughtered on Reddit (Beware of spoilers if you are inclined to check it out).

Morgan creeping within a few yards of Carol and that guy while riding a damn horse was pretty amazing though.

In agreement with the genreal consensus on here that the cliffhanger was stupid. But I really enjoyed Negan. He's going to be a good villian.

I know Negan will probably be around fo awhile but all is not lost...remember the two horseback riders Carol and whats his name met....possible new allies?

I think so too and together with Hilltop and those new allies they'll beat the Saviors I reckon. But that's just speculating.

I think when FTWD started, it was showing the lead-up to and early stages of the outbreak, and was publicised as showing the early days of the disaster as a prelude to TWD, which showed Rick's shooting then him waking up in hospital and wondering what was going on. Sure I read that somewhere, with season 2 picking up at the stage where TWD basically started.

Yeah. But they definitely could have got more material from the outbreak. I mean there would have been absolute pandamonium in a city like LA. They showed a couple of riots, them being kept in a compound and now we're basically at TWD stage again. They missed the boat in terms of the potential they had for a great show.
