Television The Walking Dead

The entire episode was awful, and then the last scene was building up really well, so I thought it would redeem itself, but nope, course not. Pile of shite.

God damn you Walking Dead. Fecking stupid cliffhanger. I don't mind a cliffhanger when there's a new episode the next week but to wait 7 months? Christ...

No point even speculating at the moment, because I'm guessing the creators haven't made a decision yet. They know that it should be a major character, but will probably spend whatever time between the end of filming S6 and the start of filming s7 trying to come up with some kind of justification for it being one of the lesser characters. I just don't think they're bold enough to kill of Maggie, Glen or Daryl.

Terrible finale, so so average. What the feck was Andrew Lincoln crying in the night about? Carol getting shot in the leg??

It's definitely the ginger action man that's got it. Been leading up to him dieing all season and then that speech in the motor home about starting a family was the nail in the coffin.

Echo the sentiments though. Poor finale.

Exactly. It achieves nothing as well.

The perfect ending to this season would have been the shock factor at Negan taking a swing at one of our favourite characters. I know the beat down is probably a big part of the character, but as a series finale all we needed was one hit and cut to credits.

I was stupid enough to read up on Negan a while ago. So I f'n spoilered it for myself wrt who gets beaten  :(

Unless the writers don't expect to stick to the comic book scripts? I'm not even sure if they have up until this point as I've never read a TWD comic in my life.

The tv show and the comic have diverted significantly from each other so you probably don't know who was beaten.

Yep. They introduced a new gang, the Saviors, and a new major fecking villain with Negan whose introduction took at least 5 episodes. Whoever was still watching The Walking Dead up to this point was probably going to watch the 7nd season too to check out what will happen between the Saviors and Rick's group. A cliffhanger wasn't necessary and should never be used in the last episode of a season. They really crossed a line with the milking and clickbaiting and people are rightly giving low votes to the finale on IMDB as far as I'm concerned.

It's unrealistic sure but we're talking about TWD here, it's not the most unrealistic thing in the show and whoever got whacked still raised their head after the first blow, hell they seemed to still be alive after a few blows.

The eenie meenie minie moe part was there to throw everybody off for sure, but that doesn't mean we can't rule out a few people at the very least, Carl & Rick being named dropped can definitely be ruled out. From then on it's just different people's individual theories.
That's kind of my point. It's an unrealistic show so trying to figure out who it was based on the fact that they were able to come back up after the first blow isn't necessarily going to point you in the right direction. Of course it is fun to try and figure out who it is I just don't think it's as logical a process as you might think. I would agree though that Carl and Rick do appear to be off the hook judging by Negan's comments.

I think Rick will never die. The show will end with Rick in my opinion.

That was tense as hell

Am I still the only idiot who enjoys this show?

I even consider this season the best so far, it was excellent

It was because unlike every other season there wasn't a ton load of boring episodes in the middle of the season. Last episode was a huge disappointment though.

Nah I'll join you, weird thing most people that slate walking dead myself included keep coming back to,watch it so we must get some enjoyment out of it right?

I didn't Mind the ending, whoever did get beaten is definately dead I'm sure you could here squelching sounds, you just don't survive that it'll tun out to be someone insignificant like the Latino chick or that gay character or sasha.

Yeah, despite all of its flaws and how much it annoys me, that was 60 minutes of the most uncomfortable viewing I've ever endured. The slow realisation that the Saviors are a huge damned army who could easily wipe out Rick et al and you just knew they were being led like rats in a trap. But most of the tension was because it was built up in the press (and clearly most of it BS because there were quotes from Rick saying how he read the finale script and it made him feel sick ... which is clearly PR nonsense because even they don't know what happened at the end).

And then they just threw it all away ...

Nope. I love it. Of course it's unrealistic and the characters do stupid things but if they were always calm and composed and didn't do stupid shit there would be no show.

I thought Andrew Lincoln played his role really well in that last scene, without any dialogue too. Sold the fear/shock/disbelief really well. Was good and surprising to see Rick find himself so utterly helpless.

I agree...although who knows maybe he'll get sick of the show and get killed off for that reason. It's happened with other shows.

Ruling out Carl & Rick going off what Negan says, and any of the girls because you can hear their screams, it's Abraham or Glenn. Probably be Glenn but somehow survives again. Bullshit ending anyway, right fecking drag.

There's no way a bloke like that is bludgeoning a fit bird so it's deffo a bloke.
He might be a bigot though.
Doesn't seem like Georgia has many roads.
When's it back on the box?

Was no-one else expecting Morgan and/or a half-dead Carol to ride to the rescue?

Why would the Jesus have them attack Negan when surely he knew the size of Negan's forces and the certainty of his retaliation?

Jesus was a fanny and untrusted. I don't see how his return could herald a great plot twist.

Agreed, the sweat, the fear, that he knew he was helpless was well done.

So, they are taking an RV for a drive, knowing that the Saviours are about and therefore likely to attempt a roadblock. And it doesn't occur to them to take the stealth bazooka with them?

A word of caution - do not read the Guardian's article about the finale - they fecking tell you who was beaten in the comics without a warning, the only spoiler alert they put was that you shouldn't read this article before watching the finale. I'm so angry right now.

If it helps, i'm sure the producers have said before that they won't be sticking to the comic book plot as far as Negan goes, so it's still all up in the air. Stupid thing for them (Guardian) to do though.

In other news, that final scene last night had me on edge. I think I was actually shaking in fact. It was so well done, it makes me more angry that they botched the end so bad.

Just had a thought, if you look back at the order they were sitting you can probably guess who got the beat down as the camera paused on the person next to the victim, might have a look back later. Hope it was Coral, unlikely though.

Quite enjoyed that episode fecked up ending but you kinda expected some sort of backlash after they murdered so many of them in their sleep. But one thing for sure is that you don't feck with Rick Grimes, look forward to him annihilating Negan and his crew next season.

I don't think you can at all as they were just randomly chopping and cutting between all of them added to which they haven't even decided who it is yet apparently.

Trevor from GTA was the non-Negan guy from the Saviours. I knew his voice was familiar.

The ending seemed like it was decided by AMC money men rather than a director/writers.

:lol: thought the exact same thing when he turned up.

The only way ending on a cliffhanger makes sense is if we get two or three people die. Maybe with someone trying to stop Negan as he assaults the first person and getting a bat the face themselves.

Maybe he beats the shit out of Lara Croft and James Hetfield goes in for the save? Then we get another season of Bob's Girlfriend being pissed off at everything.

I actually quite enjoyed this season in contrast to others. At least in most episodes something actually happened. It's definitely improved from the farcical farm and prison series.

But they totally bottled the it with the cliffhanger. And I agree it was tense and great up until that point. This is a character they've built up all season and to leave it like that is really shit.

Also the rest of the finale was so bad.

The problem is that there will be 2 or 3 amazing episodes (which are the main reason I keep watching), 2 or 3 tolerable ones, and the rest will be a load of shit.
