The vaccines | vaxxed boosted unvaxxed? New poll

How's your immunity looking? Had covid - vote twice - vax status and then again for infection status

  • Vaxxed but no booster

  • Boostered

  • Still waiting in queue for first vaccine dose

  • Won't get vaxxed (unless I have to for travel/work etc)

  • Past infection with covid + I've been vaccinated

  • Past infection with covid - I've not been vaccinated

Results are only viewable after voting.
I'm not over 55!

I had the option of Pfizer, Moderna orJanssen. I picked Janssen the second she told me that it was a single dose.
Makes sense. The 6 week gap for Pfizer here is a pain, but understandable. I still have another week and a half to go until my second. Still I'll be fully covered days before my vacation so can't complain too much.

Just book for the first jab in two weeks time. Odd thing was the letter I received said they had tried to contract me before which I'm pretty isn't true and that my records show I'm at high risk of getting seriously unwell from Covid, which again I'm pretty sure thats not true.

 I didn't think you were but surprised you had the Janssen.
@stu_1992 - they've reduced the gap again for Pfizer back to 4 weeks
Yeah but I couldn't really get a second appointment close by without travelling a bit, so I decided to just leave it with the original. As I said, I'll be fully vaccinated before my holiday so I'm happy enough.

Sounds like someone stole your identity. But they’re very unhealthy and you’ve taken their place in the queue for a vaccine. Karma’s a bitch.

Not sure if this is the right topic for it, but this week I found out that a family member is deep into conspiracies regarding the vaccine. I mean, she's really in Bill Gates wants to put chips on people territory. My jaw dropped to the floor, she's generally well informed, college educated in psychology and often mocks right wing conspiracies when it comes to politics.

From what I've gathered her boyfriend has basically brainwashed her, but I don't know many details.

To be honest I think she's beyond help because she is really stubborn, the kind of person who never admits she's wrong. Although if someone has any advice on how to deal with this I'd like to hear.

Now the real problem is that she's using our family whatsapp group (and conversations in person from what I gathered) to convince everyone else not to get the vaccine and this is really pissing me off because we have a bunch of older people there who don't follow the news, don't do any research, who basically believe what the health ministry says, which is great.

I talked to my aunt today and she told she's having second thoughts because of all the misinformation she's been given.

If it was just her and her boyfriend I'd try to ignore it but I really think I should do something if it can affect other family members. I have no idea how to go about it without causing conflict, I'm really lost here, so if anyone had gone through something similar or has any advice I'd love to hear it.

@maniak, you need to be really firm with her. Tell her she can believe whatever crazy stuff she wants, but you won't have her trying to change the mind of other people you care about.

You could also point out that you're very disappointed that she's allowed herself to be influenced by her boyfriend, as you thought she was more intelligent than that. :)

Just got back from having my 2nd AZ this morning. Got in a bit early when there was a small queue.

I've received a code this morning to download my digital "Green" certificate, which is actually just a QR code unless you also download the "let's make a little leaflet" version. It's valid for exactly 9 months from the date of the second jab.

I assume we'll all have had a booster by then ....

I said to the nurse this morning hope that's it for this year anyway and she just said who knows.

Surely for those who had their first jab back in January, there'll have to be a booster before the end of the year? I mean for the very old and very frail.

I heard the booster program is set to start in the Autumn for the UK. The thinking is to get ahead of the winter wave they expect to come.

Had my first does a few hours ago (Moderna), no side effects as of yet not even a sore arm.

You know how it is.
There's no Microsoft product out there that does not need an update.

I thought I was the cheese for the first couple of days...ooh look at me I have no side effects.... then bang!

I hope you don't get the same

Interesting article about the AZ vaccine includng a claim that Russia has been behind some of the vaccine misinformation spreading online in a bid to boost sales of their own vaccine.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...trials-and-tribulations-of-a-world-saving-jab

It’s a good summary of events. Although it’s fair to say that all the really meaningful damage was self-inflicted due to either errors in the way their data was generated and shared or legitimate concerns around safety/efficacy. I still can’t believe how badly designed and run their Phase 3 trials were. Such a pity Merck didn’t get involved instead of AZ. Their vaccine development know how would have made a huge difference. The Russian stuff is a bit of a red herring.

Agreed

After 2nd dose of AZ yesterday morning it was quite different this time - a great sleep and no side effects as yet. Hope it stays like that.

2nd dose BioNTech here. Feel like absolute shit, far worse than a common cold, flue-ish symptoms with fever and extreme fatigue.

Had my 2nd Pfizer last week. No major side effects. Bit of a sore arm after the first one and a bit of a headache after the 2nd, but nothing that a couple of paracetemols didn't take care of.

I'm getting my first shot on Wednesday (Moderna). Anyone know if the side effects are more common on the 2nd shot for Moderna like they seem to be for Biontech?
(And sorry if this has been discussed previously, I've not kept up with the thread)

Everyone seems to react differently, whatever the vaccine. In general, older people seem to have less of a reaction than younger people to any of the vaccines (presumably because younger people tend to have more efficient immune systems and get a more robust response).

Thanks, hoping for the best then :).

Thoughts on ringing my GP to see about a 2nd jab? Tomorrow will be 7 weeks since 1st jab, all they've said is they'll be in touch about booking my 2nd but not heard anything as of yet. I'd quite like to get it done and over with but also don't want to be 'that guy'.

Now with my second Pfizer jab 3 weeks after the first. The first I had absolutely no symptoms, not even a sore arm and 4 hours into my second I'm feeling as right as rain. The only slight worry I had was about 5 minutes after my jab I got a sharp pain in my left knee but that seems to have worn off.
