Beautiful stuff. Didn't know they're touring UK.

Meanwhile, I got myself some Extreme tickets.. ;)

One band I discovered recently which is a bit like Mastodon and Opeth at times is Anciients. Despite never really getting into the aforementioned bands, I really dig Anciients. Definately worth checking out.

But the band that's got most of my attention at the moment is Solstafir. I'll see them for the first time next month at Graspop Metal Meeting and I just can't wait. Icelandic progressive post-metal or whatever you want to call it. What a cracking band. Love the vocals as well.

Some virtuoso bass playing leading into a cracking tune. Essence are the pick of the new wave of thrash bands.

More Essence. More thrash.

And finally, let's watch them nail Raining Blood.

Armory came in late last year, but I'd be hard-pressed to find a better power metal release last year.

Song's been playing in my head for two days now. No idea why

I constantly have sabaton songs playing in my head. At work with earplugs in and I start belting out all sorts of lyrics

Stuff like

"Imminent invasion! Imminent attack"
"You're in the bullets way, the white deaths prey!"
"And as the night falls, the general calls as battle carries on!"

It sorta makes sense why work said I can have Thursday and today off :/

Good call, probably my favourite song from that album.

Let's change things up a tad.

New Sabaton album is just packed with catchy tunes, it's almost disturbing. Dare I say it, it's their most consistent album and surpassing Carolus Rex - in my book anyway.

That new Mastodon record was so disappointing. It just sounds so clean. Where's the filth and the grunt gone?

This is true. It's very polished and catchy. Definitely their most accessible release, but still better than The Hunter i think. They were pretty disappointing at Sonisphere to be honest, they didn't say a word until after the set when Brann said thanks and see ya.

I thought they were abit boring and robotical at Soni. As for their new album I don't mind their earlier stuff but I love the new album.

I concur. Love sabaton. Soldier of 3 armies  or no bullets fly! Epic songs!!

My favourite Death album, that. Only really Perennial Quest i don't love.

I prefer Human, but Symbolic is a close second. Saw Death again 2 weeks ago at Graspop, fantastic show just like last time. The guys from Cynic do a great job making Chuck's music live on. They played the title track and my personal favourite Crystal Mountain from the Symbolic album. Ended the show on a high with Zombie Ritual and Pull the Plug, which the crowd went completely nuts on. I think the only album they didn't visit was Individual Thought Patterns, which I probably consider their least album so that's fine by me.

Human's my second favourite. Just not as crazy about the 2nd half of it as i am the 1st.

If Symbolic had the guitar tone Human has, that low sort of rumble (0:37 on Lack of Comprehension is a great example, another is the intro to Suicide Machine) i'd love it even more.
