Music The Ultimate Metal thread.

Yeah I liked that Corey one, he's got a very powerful voice.

In other news about Metallica's new album from Lars:
“We’re writing away. We’ve got some good ideas. Our biggest problem is not the ideas. Our biggest problem is time. Metallica is busier than ever and there is more and more going on and the days get shorter and shorter. Hopefully, we will be done writing this year and next year we should record and hopefully have a new record out maybe next year. We’ll see. Hopefully next year.”

Quoting this with fixed tags for the last video, in case people miss it. Corey's voice on the song is excellent, and the best I've ever heard him.
Thanks, i hadn't noticed that, believe it or not! Imo Corey is one of the best voices in metal, right now. His vocals on "The house of gold and bones" are amazing.

Just learned that the new Accept album "Blind Rage" (for those interested) will be released on July 18. The album cover (by Daniel Goldsworthy) looks promising...

This is from the upcoming Misery Index album

I went a bit mental today. I had some time to kill so nipped in HMV. I left with 5 albums. Iron Maiden's Fear of the Dark, Judas Priest's, Painkiller and Killing Machine and Sabaton's Carolus Rex and Coat of Arms.

No. Let's listen to The Crown instead. GOD Lindberg once again.

The Duskfall seem to be a good band, The Final Harvest seem to be a great band. Any album recommendations?
Lindberg is definitely one of the most eminent metal figures from the 90's. Can't wait to hear the new At The Gates album... until then:

Anyone into Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats?

Of course, they are magnificent. I'm going to see them live in a week. Should your music fix include late-‘60s-to-mid-‘70s vintage rock, Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats are a long lost friend from the past, stopping by to say hello and catch up to what has been, what is and what will be.

'Lifetime Supply of Guilt' is my favourite album by The Duskfall. It's fantastic.

'The End' by The Final Harvest. I think that is their only full length album.

When I saw they were supporting Sabbath for the Birmingham gig I was going to I went out and got Blood Lust. Needless to say I wasn't disappointed, fantastic record and a great band live too.

Painkiller is an incredible album - Every song is a killer. Guitar work is ace on that album too.

I feel like i should like it more but don't. The songs are cool, but Halford's vocals get on my nerves. The cover art annoys me and the record has a cartoonish sound to it. Screaming for Vengeance, Sad Wings or Stained Class are the best Priest albums imo.

Well, for my sins, i still haven't actually listened to it all the way through yet. Been a bit busy.

Although i have got previous for that with Judas Priest albums. My Step-Dad gave me a copy of British Steel when i was younger. Took me 3 years before i listened to it  Worth it though, fecking class.

The first time I listened to Painkiller I didn't listen to it again for 2 years. Then a mate of mine mentioned it to me and I said I didn't rate it. He asked me to listen to it again and I've loved it ever since. Everything just seems faster, louder, heavier. That said if Halford's screeching is not floating your boat it's pretty tough to get past that haha.

It was the other way round for me. Loved it at first, leather rebel and night crawler were early standouts. But i haven't listened to it for years now. That said, i'm not the biggest Priest fan out there anyway.

So, after floating around the AOR sphere, Dynazty decided enough was enough and entered the realm of melodic metal with their latest album, Renatus. And boy have they written some killer hooks with this one.

Also, these guys sound like a sweet mix of Symphony X (mid era) and Angra (early era):

If you are into symphonic death/black, i'm sure you'll like this

Also something from the upcoming Insomnium and Arch Enemy albums

Does anyone else believe that the new Arch Enemy vocalist sounds like Dani from Cradle of Filth or is it just me?

Aware this isn't straight up metal that generally gets posted in here so I created a new thread for it as I know how a lot of genuine metal fans feel about sub-genres as it's mainly hardcore/post-hardcore based however got told to put it in here so, here are a few Hardcore/Post-Hardcore/Metal inspired bands, add to it if you like, of if not, don't ridicule too hard, I'm only human :nervous:

Australia have a pretty strong base in these genres as you can see.

Wasn't a big fan of them till I saw them live. Not heard much of their studio stuff, will give this a crack.

They've got something for everyone, which is how i got into them. Harsh early stuff, (Remission) prog rock, (Blood Mountain) conceptual (Crack The Skye, probably my favourite due to a good mix of progressive metal, melody and clean vocals) and straight ahead heavy metal. (The Hunter)

I immediately dismissed Leviathan because of the harsh vocals, and got 'The Hunter' instead. But Leviathan grew on me like mad.

I'm a melodic metal guy myself. I can do 5FDP / Killswitch / A7X is probably the shoutyiest I can go. Needs to be more Melodic Metal.
