The Trump Presidency - Part 2

So we really need a King Ralph type situation. Who would be their King Ralph ie a harmless simpleton?
None, they are all simpletons, but right down to the bottom, they are controlled by true evil in people like peter theil (vance's owner), and how ever far you go down the list, you get teh same people actually running things in exactly the same way they are now.

So..

So the fat twat who asked about the suit is MTG's boyfriend. Why am I not surprised the question came from one of those mouth breathers.

If you were one of those people who had to actually make that choice, I'm pretty sure you would have already started regretting it.
The depressing thing is that I bet only a small percent of the 54% of voters who didn’t vote actually didn’t because of a principled stance. The majority I know didn’t because of apathy or laziness.

The most depressing thing are immigrants who voted for him because they didn't want other immigrants coming here. Let's vote for him to keep some Mexicans out but let's allow him to sink the entire country instead. Those people are just as despicable as him. I hope they all suffer.

America is just so toxic at the moment it's suffocating. At one point it felt like it would change for the better but all of that has been erased. Funnily enough I'm sure a large percentage of his cult following don't even pay taxes. Illiterate hillbillies who just have enough to buy their guns and bullets.

Please don’t take this too personally, but this comment and your other one about Elon effectively rigging the election (apologies if that’s not what you were getting at) but your comments generalizing a large percentage of his voters as non tax paying hillbillies is just false. We have every right to be annoyed and sickened at what is happening, but a big mistake of the left is to put all trump voters in one basket. I know several who voted for him, well educated, successful, family oriented and would do anything for anyone, they simply voted based on how much $ they’ll have at the end of the year. Never underestimate anyones ability to be selfish.

Geezus. I was too busy reading all the other nonsense thrust on DoD and other agencies at work today, dealing with funding this, losing that, this was cancelled, etc. Then I get to see this shit in the Oval Office today. Fecking embarrassment.

Basically, this is Trump and Vance.

Anything except vote against someone who said exactly what he would do to the vulnerable.

Selfish? Absolutely, but at heart they are also uncaring and rotten.

Rubio gotta be regretting taking up the Sec of State role now. He must have thought it would be like the first Trump admin where he would have more of a free role with Trump distracted by other stuff. But now he would have to rubber stamp this kind of debacle.

Nah, he was shown on a CNN clip tonight toeing the Trump part line and blaming Zelensky.

feck you trump.
UK’s promise to go to 2.5% should be a promise to go to 4% or whatever is needed. I’d happily pay whatever tax is needed and the magic money tree can sort the rest like it did for Covid. This is now a crisis.
I get it takes years for military procurement blah blah but US is categorically not an ally any more, not to the UK and not to Europe. We need to sort our own shit out.
Ukraine may fall after what has happened today and if we don’t collectively prepare for what comes next we are mugs. NATO can forget about the US.
US can walk alone, or maybe with Israel.

4% or whatever is needed.
8-10% of all monies spent, then, would go to weapons manufacturers with a crumbling housing, healthcare, and education situation (the first two are dire and the third requires a lot of work, especially day-care and the primary/secondary levels).

At the moment it spend nearly 5% (4.5%~) of all its budget on the military. To double that would cripple the entire country. The US has the petro-dollar, the EU and UK do not.

How would you fund that? It's reactionary madness. You'd have riots in every major city in the UK within a year. The social contract would be over.

Starmer looks like even more of a pathetic sycophant now. Embarrassing man.

These are the conversations, historically, which take place behind closed doors. You get it on camera and people go insane. I guarantee you there were conversations like this during the Biden regime (maybe not as brash but with the same sort of disregard for Zelensky which was not given publicly for political reasons).

I prefer this format. It's madness but it's somehow less dishonest. I've watched the King of Jordan, Macron, and now Zelensky and Starmer.

Would you prefer if this happened behind closed doors, as it has historically, but you were spoonfed a lie in front of your face?

I guarantee you the same conversations against Zelensky were not a part of the Biden admin. Laughable to try to draw that similarity between the two.

My opinion only but this is genuinely a war footing now. For us and the rest of Europe. Not just sending money and military equipment but an actual threat. Our biggest ally has basically given us and the rest of Europe the middle finger. US and Russia working together against another European country and can’t count on US to stay with NATO. Yes we have nukes but nobody really wants that.
For a start you reduce foreign aid to 0. I know easy target and all that and will have repercussions but we are now in a position where we absolutely must do something drastic.
Don’t know what that gets us to but work from there.

Not the same tone, but I guarantee you the money people were just as firm about what they expected contra to Trump's idea that this was not happening. It would have been far more political but nothing like what was presented in public.

If you believe otherwise you've never studied politics or history.

Why? Russia cannot and will not move beyond Ukraine. That's realpolitik. You might think that cold but it's the reality.

This is propaganda. Ironically, it's Trump's propaganda by the backdoor: increase NATO spending and cut foreign aid. No thanks.

Hmmm, majored in both in college, but it was FSU.

Of course there were back room discussions, but to suggest the tenor & tone in those discussions even approached what we saw today is pie-eyed.

Disagree.
If not for US aid which cannot be relied on any more Ukraine would be Russian.
US can no longer be relied upon to uphold article 5. Europe’s capability for traditional war not fantastic.
Might not be immediate but would be crazy to think putin would stop at Ukraine. Must start planning for that eventuality now.

Nixon tapes.

Take a lesson in that. It was Johnson, known for tough diplomacy, who told Nixon to keep tapes. There is a vast depository of historical documents which cite meetings, after the necessary time limit of "sensitive" has passed, where meeting like this have taken place throughout all history. Sticking with just American history, you could cite thousands of examples.

Crazy to think he will move beyond it. Where to? If he could, maybe, but he can't. He'd be overstretched militarily as the Nazis were after Barbossa. And the Russian army is nowhere near the size of that Nazi army nor pound for pound as superior it was to the Russian at that time. It took Russia a while to pivot and then when it had innumerable millions and a massive manufacturing base it did indeed push them back.

Russia is never moving beyond Ukraine. This will age historically well. It's all about the borders for Russia. Guarantee you. Not just the European either (and there, mostly the Ukrainian one). It's not about what they could invade but what they could hold. There sort of at their limit. They could topple Kyiv, no doubt, but they wouldn't hold it except by proxy.

What is your reasoning? And don’f just say well its Putin. Think about the context and what would happen if he did.

Oh they deserve all the blame because what they enabled is just as terrible.
What they have enabled is going to be worse, and if I was American I'd be rethinking any foreign vacations pans other than trips to North Korea or Russia

You think americans are going to be beaten in the streets of venice?

Well Putin has made it clear that he he wants the old Soviet Union back, and the context is that the US seems to be backtracking on it's obligations, if that indeed does happen then there's not a great deal can be done to actually stop him in the short term
