The Trump Presidency - Part 2

Soooooo, the comments from Musks son are actually true? That is fecking hilarious.... Trump is weak as feck but projecting this tough guy

What depresses me is those in his team who buy into it and double down like the press officer above. Surely she knows it’s nonsense.

I thought the first term was bad, thus is going to break all levels of shitness. That so many regular Americans subscribe to this, st the expense of their own rights, healthcare, jobs and financial security just boggles my mind
Of course they know, they do it for the power and the opportunities it brings in the future, one of Trump's former press officers is now Governer of Arkansas for example

True, but that had more to do with who her dad was.

Fecking irony of holding lies accountable. They banned an AP News reporter because they didn’t refer to the Gulf of America, fecking facist state!

Amazing that it pisses them off so much that people call it the Gulf of Mexico...it's almost like if the word itself is repellent and abhorrent to them...repeat after me M E X I C O

Wait until they find out what the state between Texas and Arizona is called

Today? New Mexico
Tomorrow? New America

True but being the press officer probably helped, for others it's the multi-million $$ contracts at Fox and the like

And the complete assault on all things education and advancement of the common people through education continues:

Republican tax plan announced with more benefits for corporations and the richest and virtually no benefit for everyone else. This they are trying to make up for by cutting everything public education among other things, while the US goes into even more debt: Ending pell grants, government student loans, health care and basic science research, taxing student loans and privatizing student loans.

Will have huge impact by destroying education and college towns.

If you read between the lines they actually want to bring back uneducated working class cities with companies like Amazon and Tesla as the only source of income. Back to the 1800s basically. Would like to think that in his second term they will have resistance to something that far reaching but it's hard to be optimistic.

Again it's difficult to not be angry with his voters for literally signing off on the full on assault of those with less and those who try to better themselves.

What you describe is a basic Republican plan that pre-dates Trump, in this respect he's just a means to an end

Whilst you’re right, it’s a good suggestion by Pogue. I did it months ago, watch less news and try to concentrate on local news and what’s going to affect me. Selfish perhaps but less all consuming and better for your mental health

Over the last few days I’ve been trying to do the same as well. Not being on social media less, but just trying to tune out the global news for a while. Like you said, it’s becoming all consuming, and all consuming in a bad way, and I could see that it was starting to affect me.

Even the news in the UK I am trying to tune out unless it has the word ‘doctor’ in it that might directly apply to me. The UK news cycle is just as daunting as everything else and it’s really not doing me any good.

If anybody ever wondered how religion came to be, this is it. Some people will never be put to justice for their crimes so people tell themselves there is an afterlife in which they will pay. The only condolescending though is that the human beings who caused this are sick individuals in the truest sense of the world who aren't capable of understanding the pain they cause. What a dull and joyless life people like Trump and Putin must be living.

After some of his time in office would be the best time to create that bio engineered weapon people claimed Covid to be. We re already one of the most (if not most) vulnerable western nation when it comes to resistance to deceases between anti vaxxers and being drugged up out the wazoo, so id love this development if I had some terrorist like inclinations.

ICE Wants to Know If You’re Posting Negative Things About It Online

>*Once flagged, the system will further scour a target’s internet history and attempt to reveal their real-world position and offline identity. In addition to compiling personal information — such as the Social Security numbers and addresses of those whose posts are flagged — the contractor will also provide ICE with a “photograph, partial legal name, partial date of birth, possible city, possible work affiliations, possible school or university affiliation, and any identified possible family members or associates.”*

>*The document also requests “Facial Recognition capabilities that could take a photograph of a subject and search the internet to find all relevant information associated with the subject.” The contract contains specific directions for targets found in other countries, implying the program would scan the domestic speech of American citizens.*

>*The posting indicates that ICE isn’t merely looking to detect direct threats of violence, but also online criticism of the agency.*

>*As part of its mission to protect ICE with “proactive threat monitoring,” the winning contractor will not simply flag threatening remarks but “Provide monitoring and analysis of behavioral and social media sentiment (i.e. positive, neutral, and negative).” This includes regular updates on the “total number of negative references to ICE found in social media” from week to week.*

Clearly taking a risk reposting this I guess. The gestapo might track me down.

Sigh and countries won’t block unvaxxed American travelers for fear of retaliation

Just so many ways they can kill us
If you are vaccinated then you have nothing to fear, if you're not then unless you have a valid medical reason not to then you're not going to garner any sympathy

If anything unvaxxed American are more likely to kill themselves

for sure

this is one of the craziest presidential appointments of all time
Yes and no, if you view it just on the vaccine shite then yes, but in other areas of the job he actually wants to do a lot of stuff that would be good, whether he gets to do it though is a different matter (which would apply to anyone in that job)

A better reason would be to simply be a decent human being. If you have to be personally affected by something, in order to the decent thing, you might not be that decent. In case of Mitch McConnell, he might be the best reason against polio vaccines I have ever seen.

you can take vaccines out altogether and it's still completely ridiculous in my book

he believes a long list of conspiracy theories which he throws around without any solid data or evidence to support

Every day is a shambles, it’s hard to keep watching it and not get depressed. Utter disgrace of a Government.
It hasn’t even been a month. I can’t imagine what they’ll have in store for the next 47 months.

Surely he now has access to documentation that either proves or disproves those theories though?

As if they are ever going to admit being wrong about anything. He’ll double down on his takes regardless whether documents and facts disprove them.

When it comes to that he's not even at the top of the list in GOP nominees!

It's what the voters wanted, so no pity for them, they deserve all the bad stuff that will happen.

Mass firings of federal workers begin as Trump and Musk purge US government
Mass firings at multiple U.S. government agencies have begun as President Donald Trump and Elon Musk accelerate their purge of America's federal bureaucracy, union sources and employees familiar with the layoffs told Reuters on Thursday.
Termination emails have been sent in the past 48 hours to scores of government workers, mostly recently hired employees still on probation, at the Department of Education, the Small Business Administration (SBA), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and the General Services Administration (GSA), which manages many federal buildings.

I really wish I could laugh at this stuff still but as mentioned so often since this second term started - there seem to be less and less people pushing back. And if they are - they re basically being ostracized. It's fkin nuts to ban the AP of all news. But then they know how influential theyre reporting is not just in this country, but around the world. It's fecked up to say the least. The who will speak for me if there is no one left to speak for me kinda thing is an ever increasing concern.

Mitch McConnel getting these he's a lone wolf now, Independent and unburdened by leadership articles are disgusting seriously. That decrepit bastard could have stopped all of this by doing his job as Leader.

It's just beyond bonkers to stand there with a straight face and state that lies will be punished and then go on about how it's a fact it's called the gulf of america.

I suppose it's just early day tactcs, do it over daft things and people might laugh about it.

Also, these presidential pardons are fairly fecking daft, doesn't it just invite corruption but as long as you tow the company line you'll end up with a pardon
