Over the last few days I’ve been trying to do the same as well. Not being on social media less, but just trying to tune out the global news for a while. Like you said, it’s becoming all consuming, and all consuming in a bad way, and I could see that it was starting to affect me.
Even the news in the UK I am trying to tune out unless it has the word ‘doctor’ in it that might directly apply to me. The UK news cycle is just as daunting as everything else and it’s really not doing me any good.

A better reason would be to simply be a decent human being. If you have to be personally affected by something, in order to the decent thing, you might not be that decent. In case of Mitch McConnell, he might be the best reason against polio vaccines I have ever seen.
