2. If he was supposed to be recused from the investigation, why did he recommend Comey was fired? Trump has admitted that the Russia investigation was the reason for his firing so why was Sessions involved in this, why did he write a letter recommending his dismissal?

The Deputy AG, Rod Rosenstein, was the one writing the memo which served as the basis for Comey's dismissal.

Is this buffoon really not aware that he is misusing the term 'fake news'? That's the one thing that really gets to me about his tweets. Any news he doesn't like is "fake" :rolleyes:

They both wrote memos, though they were done after the decision had already been made.

In the immediate aftermath of the firing, Rosenstein's letter was the one cited which lead to a lot of backlash against him. Session's letter iirc is merely to recommend change at the Bureau based on the faults catalogued in Rosenstein's.

Right, so Rosenstein pointed out the faults and Sessions was the one who recommended action. That would be fine if Trump hadn't already stated that Russia was the reasons for his sacking. Sessions letter, using disinginuous excuses because the real reason would cause him trouble is the real problem.

Well he can just wash his hands of it, and he will, by saying that he only did his duty. The decision was made by the President and if the President said it was because of Russia then he wasn't privy to that information.

I think he will get nailed for lying under oath about the meetings, but there are enough plausible arguments to be made regarding Comey's firing. Don't think that line of questioning will lead to anywhere.

He refused himself from that duty. That's what all this is about.

It seems while I have been at work, the wanker in Chief has been on somewhat of a rant..

Oh and McCain's performance at the Comey testimony is explained here.......

Yeah, Ruddy seems to be tapdancing a bit after last night's interview.

Yeah it's an interesting one, that. NBC are claiming she is fairly tough on him and NBC say their aim was to shed some light on a controversial figure who has just been handed a WH press pass. I'm guessing they would have given a preview to the advertisers in the hope it eases their concerns and if that's the case, she obviously hasn't gone tough enough. No surprises there.

Yes of course. McCain is only waiting for Trump to give his wife a job, after which Trump will lose all his leverage and McCain will go back to hounding Trump on Russia.

:wenger::wenger:

You may be onto something. A career in proper Sherlock Holmes e-journalism awaits.

I think this was all orchestrated. Ruddy was at the WH yesterday and then promptly goes on PBS to float the idea to get a media reaction. The press then devotes an entire news cycle to it just as the Sessions hearings and the ACHA bill are going on.

Yep. She was working hard to expose that. She also did a good job redirecting to her agenda and not letting him derail the interview with his talking points.

Have you noticed Jason Miller on CNN in recent days appears to be gradually not quite as gung ho for Trump. Pretty remarkable.

He's been called out pretty harshly a few times in the last week or so for trying to put out patently false narratives. I think that has something to do with it, combined with possibly his own knowledge that he's being asked to peddle crap on air.
