The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Gutted, absolutely gutted. :(

I've just had a good friend of mine come in to the pub and we were talking about how last week the temperature was as high as 29 degrees in some places in the UK which was 12 degrees hotter than the previous record for the same days in May, so almost DOUBLE the previous record. I just joked and asked how people can still deny climate change when you have things like that going on and he turned round to me and said that he thought it was a complete crock of shit. I was lost for words because this lad was at Maritime College with me, we spent 18 months sat next to each other when we were learning and taking the meteorology and climate science module which is a huge part of the skippers tickets we were taking (obviously). He sat next to me when we were learning about climate shift and throughout the entire time when we were learning about adverse weather effects due to climate change. So you can imagine my amazement when the idiot said he thinks climate change is a crock of shit. It does however go to show though that not only does the propaganda work, but also in general people are idiots. I despair sometimes, I really do.

Edit.. I don't know how they have the scoop when............

Pulling out of the Climate Agreement and also reimposing some of the restrictions Obama had lifted on Cuba.

Not a good day :(

Oh and liberals need to tell the media to fcuk off. Ted Nugent prior to Obama getting reelected said - 'If Obama gets elected, I'll either be dead or in jail'...no prizes for guessing what he was insinuating.

Trump invited the same piece of shit to the WH for a photo op.

So, yeah...Kathy Griffin was tasteless (which is nothing for those who know her...she's a terrible 'comedian')...but, can we stop with the hand wringing.

If he was going to remain he would have done so before heading to Europe to avoid the unpleasantness. Pulling out after the G7 meet would have been made the most sense tactically. It sends a signal that they don't have any influence on him and also saves the coward in him from facing them directly.

There should be no surprise if Trump backs out of this. It's a bit ridiculous, but there should also be no surprise if Trump doesn't pull out of this as well.

Mental, but that's where Trump has taken us.

I'm sorry, but she was disgusting. There is no other way to put it. What message was she trying to send that she couldn't send in a more acceptable way?

She just gave Donald Trump something legitimate to talk about and to claim that the media hates him, all is a big conspiracy, etc.

As a liberal myself, I'm tired of these comedians and late night shows.

I said she was tasteless - and I didn't defend her.

But, I'm not going to pay attention to people hyperventilating over this - because Obama got worse for 8 years. So those same people now trying to get on a high horse doesn't wash with me.

PS. No one is buying his pity party about the media hating him...the media helped create and elect him.

Agreed, and I know that you're not defending her. I'm just saying that her behavior helps him in claiming that it's all conspiracy. It doesn't advance the right cause at all.

She is boring and stupid. And the fact that we're talking about this now is because of her disgusting, tasteless, offensive and stupid photo.

What they did to Obama was unacceptable and wrong. But two wrongs don't make a right. This type of behavior was wrong then and it's wrong now.

Kathy Griffin made a very tasteless joke, but she apologised and admitted she went too far. That doesn't excuse it at all but let's put things in perspective shall we, do you think any of the above apologised to Obama? I'm sick of the Republicans making out they are hard done by and saying that Obama wasn't treated as badly. They have very short and selective memories and need to feck right off.

If he pulls out of the Paris deal it'll the worst decision he's made so far and there are plenty to choose from.
Hope he'll rot in jail

He will probably pull out of the Paris agreement; this will make his base happy and will deflect the attention for couple of days away from the Russia story.

Trump will try to undo almost everything that Obama did: ACA, Paris agreement, Cuba, regulations, Iran deal, etc.

We're supposed to be better than "them".

He rationalisation is that its bad for business and that other countries wont adhere to these voluntary guidelines. This is despite the fact that business leaders have told him that its good for innovation etc.

Therefore, I suspect its just personal -- anything thing major that Obama has done, he wants to dismantle it.

I've spent the past week reading about the internment of Japanese people and US Citizens of Japanese origin during Pearl Harbor :nervous:

Not pleasant reading and we are hurtling towards a similar sentiment.

A bit different doesn't you think? You have a bunch of rednecks vs a comedian

We're supposed to be better than "them".

Yeah I know. But a comedian is a comedian and they make tasteless jokes, some work, some don't. At least she was quick to apologise and it certainly wasn't meant with the malice that some of the examples I posted were. Not that that makes it any better, but still.

It's just a disgrace that one person has the authority to make such important decisions that have ramifications that could affect generations to come.

I'm not sure what your point is there? Not all the people burning or hanging effigies of Obama were Rednecks either, unless that's how you think of all your fellow Republicans?

I suspect that one of the major reasons for his decision is that it is relatively easy to withdraw from the Paris Accord; at least compared to everything else he has promised. He has hardly delivered anything meaningful, anything tangible. He's impatient to get things done, questioned many times the 'archaic' ways of government, complained he cannot just order something and bang, it's done.

IIRC, the Paris Accord was built in a way that nobody can withdraw officially earlier than 2020. Of course it's possible to disregard the measures, but still.

OTOH, I heard yesterday something that makes me a bit more optimistic.
A veteran German radio correspondent in Brussels reported that EU officials and 'a US coalition of the willing' started collaborating on how to adhere to as many measures of the Paris Accord in the US as possible in case Twitler pulls out. Among other members of this 'coalition', he mentioned California, NYC, several environmental organizations. Either this coalition have already or they are about to set up an office in Brussels to intensify the collaboration.

That reminded me of something California decided in Twitler's early days of the presidency: IIRC they tightened certain emisson levels of cars and thereby countered federal actions to relax these emissions.

You almost think that dumbass Kathy Griffin is a trump agent for pulling her stunt on the exact day he is pulling out of the Paris climate accord.

Apparently there are thousands of protest marches planned this weekend. One can only hope that Trump's behaviour this week will only further enrage more people and help get more people out attending the protests.

You almost think that dumbass Kathy Griffin is a trump agent for pulling her stunt on the exact day he is pulling out of the Paris climate accord.

To be fair I think she did it yesterday, and he hasn't officially announced anything yet. I posted what he Tweeted earlier today and that was he was going to announce his decision in the coming few days.

Ok then....

Lying and using his son is fecking low even for him for goodness sake.

He really doesn't have a clue does he? Does he not remember that a bill has been submitted? Can he not remember what was in it? Or didn't he know in the first place? And on top of that, what he says there is the same as the other day and completely contradicts the Republican healthcare plan. Ryan and co must be fuming when he Tweets shit like this

do you have a link to that

Seems very extreme

Seems very extreme

Not really because it's not double for the month, or the average isn't double, it was just certain days had the record beaten by 12 degrees. So for instance the 22nd May's record was 17 degrees but last week London saw highs of 29 degrees on that particular date. I'm out and on my phone at the moment so not easy to search, and also they don't usually publish records/averages until the month has ended, but for example here's April...

If his son saw it I'm sure it would be difficult to handle. But his son should not be on Twitter.
It wasn't just on Twitter.
There doesn't need to be an asterisk with this one. No ifs or buts.
It'll be in the news for a couple of days. She'll get hammered for it. Some people will boycott her. I'll have no sympathy. The world will move on.

Incredibly stupid thing to do.

It really does feel like he's literally got into the Presidency just to undo everything Obama did and nothing else.

It's just a huge chip on his shoulder and nothing else.
