Plot twist: Old Trump doesnt actually know what twitter is, his phone has just been hacked and sending out these tweets the entire time.

edit: Seems people beat me to it!

A senior White House adviser to Donald Trump is registered to vote in two different states, a practice that the US president wrongly claimed amounted to electoral fraud on Wednesday as he called for an inquiry.

Stephen Bannon registered to vote in New York shortly before the presidential election last year, after the Guardian disclosed that he was registered to vote at a vacant house in Florida where his ex-wife had once lived.

Bannon, whose registration lists a rented apartment in Manhattan as his address, cast his ballot for Trump in New York, according to a source familiar with his arrangements, who was not authorized to speak to the media.

Bannon, however, also remains registered to vote in Florida, according to state records. His registration lists as his address the home of Andy Badolato, a friend of Bannon’s who has worked on some of his political documentary films and written for Breitbart News, the far-right website that Bannon controlled before entering the White House as chief strategist and senior counselor to the president.

:( It's been a pretty sad day overall, to be honest, a pretty sad week. Is the world really just going to sit back and watch all this unfold and do nothing? Are US citizens and the Senate just going to let it all happen? Or Is it just Republican's like Cliven Bundy that actually stand up for their rights (even if completely in the wrong) I'm actually not sure what anyone can do, I just know someone needs to do something. I honestly expected the Dems to fight back much harder against most, if not all of Trumps cabinet picks, especially after what the Republicans did over Obama's Supreme Court pick for the last year. I know it's early days, I just expected a bit more resistance to everything.

@langster

Perhaps someone else (@PedroMendez or @MTF ) would be better placed to say, but I don't think any economic downturn is likely soon.

I know, I was being facetious. I don't expect a major downturn anytime soon either, just I expect one because of his policies. He simply cannot do what he has said, it's completely unfeasible and there's no way it can work. You can't cut taxes like he says he is going to do and then pay for more military spending (as if it's needed ffs) more infrastructure and public service jobs and also the stupid fecking wall that will cost at the cheapest estimate around $10 BILLION Dollars. Countless economic experts have all predicted his budget can't and wont work and I have seen various estimates of between $6 TRILLION to $12 TRILLION added to the national debt over the next decade, simply down to his crazy spending and budget plans. So, I would expect a downturn to happen, just a matter of when, not if.

I don't like the liberal take of Trump. Forget all this no-story distractions and focus on the policies.

No one cares about policies.

61% of Drumpfkins voted for him for reasons unrelated to policies. It's a cult of personality.

Sad to say, but what the Dems need is a reality TV star of their own, or someone with the potential to be. Being a crowd pleaser is more important than being qualified.

Of course, if he overreaches and likely will, there's a chance to bring policies to the forefront, but people won't react until shit hits the fan. Privatising Social Security is on Ryan's agenda for ages, and we'll see how big is the fall out of ACA's repeal.

I quite enjoy the absolute meltdown here and around the world. What you deserve is what you get.
It is a bit worrying that mainstream politicians, journalists, policy analysts and the "general public" havn't learned a thing. They continue to make the same stupid mistakes and lack even the least bit of self-awareness. More political tribalism is all they have at the moment.

No problem.

global gag rule,” will strip funding from any international NGO that provides abortions services, or even discusses abortion with patients seeking educational materials or referrals.
...
It’s quite the way to describe the gutting of a policy that’s spared an estimated 289,000 women from pregnancy- or childbirth-related deaths, according to the World HealthOrganization.

Trump Signs Executive Order Curbing Obamacare

Following the removal of all mentions of climate change from the White House website, the new administration has apparently trained its sites on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The EPA and a handful of other government agencies are now reportedly under gag orders: employees are forbidden to discuss ongoing changes, post new material on agency websites, communicate on social media, or respond to queries from media or the public.

Yeah can see someone like Ben Affleck getting into politics now.

I disagree. I think this is the very same take that led to his election. Some of his voters care about the policies, the economy is the main reason + his anti-immmigration stance no matter how many Americans would deny so, for the same economic reasons. If they cared about his personality he wouldn't have won but his core 30-35% ideologues. The Rust Belt didn't vote him in for his celebrity status.

Yes, you do. You emphatically do. The point of a democracy is to vote for who you want to represent you. Even in Michigan, the closest state this time, the difference was 10,000+ votes. Each individual vote is symbolic. I chose not to send a symbolic message that I want Hillary Clinton, a centrist war mongering liar whose only interest is power for power's sake to be president. I sent that same message in the primaries where I and other Michigan voters helped Bernie Sanders to a historic upset.

The Democratic party chose not to heed those lessons nor pay any attention to her unprecedented unfavorables and rigged the primary in her favor. She chose not to campaign in the rust belt states or offer anything to the disaffected people here. Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party are not entitled to my vote, they have to earn it and they failed to do so. I didn't go around campaigning for people not to vote or whatever. I simply voted my conscience. The only way you'll get me to feel bad about it is if he won by 1 vote. But the presidential election wasn't decided by 1 vote and it never will be. Individual voting is symbolic and people should vote for what they believe in. Maybe then we might be able to vote for an actual liberal.
Pretty much this.

Democracy should be about more than pragmatism and choosing the lesser of two evils. The DNC fecked up, and a Hillary win would have been a mandate for more of the same.

Trump is really going to war with environmental scientists. It's time for the US to lose their place at R the head of the worlds table. And for the EU to take its place..

I fear for the UN and world's peace. Not overreacting.

Start taking his words at face value. He's not backing off and in 5 days he's working on exactly what he promised to do. A war with China is a crazy idea, but , well, he is crazy.

I wonder how long it'll take before Trump attempts to increase presidential powers and also attempts to decrease freedom of speech?

and also attempts to decrease freedom of speech?

He's already kind of done that with the gag orders on EPA workers and Scientific employees like NASA. He has also mentioned numerous times he wants the press to be held accountable if they print false stories, similar to the laws in the UK. As I have mentioned before the trouble with that is it infringes on the First Amendment and that's a complete no go in the USA, and also he thinks it would benefit him and the press would have to stop printing or showing what he perceives as false stories about him all the time. The big problem there is 99% of what they show or print is actually true and under the laws like we have in the UK, it would be up to Trump himself to prove the press were lying, not the other way around, so the law would really be a complete nightmare for someone like him. Nevertheless, he has mentioned holding the Press accountable numerous times and as recently as last week. It wouldn't be a surprise for him to go after them again.

Bernhard Langer seems to be a source of Trump's voter paranoia.

She's a complete charlatan, and an ambitious one at that.

Why on earth would she attempt that? Even if she believes it in her hearts of hearts, she lacks any semblance of the seniority required to pull off a challenge to stated policy. Its just baffling.
