Been a while since I've seen Jimmy Carter appear in public.

Now he was not a great President but he echoed what was good and right about "The American Dream". His speeches and ideals still have resonance today so he wasn't as bad as some make him out. And his post-presidency work is of the highest order. He's certainly a great man - honourable and truthful.

Trump is the opposite. He echoes the worst traits. Narcissistic, bully and an unwavering attitude that it's never his fault.

They share one similarity - they both got the keys to the White House as political outsiders. Hopefully they'll have one more - both one-term Presidents. Other than that Trump doesn't belong in the same class as Jimmy Carter.

Does he really have enough control over the IC to stop investigations into him?

Had a great debate with a Trump supporter earlier, first thing he came out with was he had a degree in Mechanical engineering so he was smart.

Heres some of the clangers, on the topic of him mocking the disabled reporter. The guy linked me to a video 'proving' Trump didn't mock the disabled reporter because he uses his hands when hes mocking other people.

I honestly think finding an educated Trump supporter might be just a tad harder then eradicating poverty.
Still shocked this happened, just everything he did. Just reading one statement from him puts me off, a fecking primary school kid could do better.
 
The next 4 years can do untold damage to the Civic Society in U.S.A if he stays the full term. It takes a lot longer to fix bad policies than it does to undo good ones. I really hope i´m wrong regarding the potential damage being done. But i really fear the most vile and regressive people are going to cause major damage.

Good post. And I agree with David Frum's sentiment. My knowledge of pre-Wilson Presidents is not good, but beyond that I feel quite strongly that this is the worst man to become President since, on the qualities that I judge men. He has not an ounce of dignity about him.
 
Conservatives like Bill Kristol hated Trump right off the bat and that hasn't changed - after all, Trump isn't your typical republican/conservative.

One of the very few examples of an American conservative who wants to tear up help for poor people, who actually came from a very poor background himself. An interesting example of 'pull the ladder up after yourslf'.

I had a fantastic movement as he was being sworn in, i'd saved it for a few days too. The codeine and morphine helps with that fantastically.

It was dark. It said very little of what are generally professed to be the intrinsic qualities of the country. It just claimed the country and the people had been screwed, and were back with a vengeance.

To other countries for example, Obama said America would lead once more, through example. Trump just said America would always be first, and the hangers-on can go to hell.
