The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Now on to signing executive orders to undo Obama's.

Nah, he said something about his 'first day' being Monday not today. He probably wants some celebration time in the Lincoln bedroom with a rubber sheet and some Russian hookers.

Idiots who voted for him or the third party and called it the protest vote deserves to be shot no, but at least a thorough whipping
so you want to whip people who don't have same political opinion that you do?

and if that's also a joke then I guess it's too grim for my tastes.

It's part of what they're saying sure...i was addressing the thematic complaints.

Sure people can go read Obamas speech to compare, i was bored at work so did it earlier

The themes of every inauguration speech will be similar. I'm here because of you guys. Lets all pull together. We'll make this work. It's the details which matter. Trying to claim the country is on its knees and only he can save it. Threatening to wipe stuff "off the face of this earth". Saying they're protected by the army and by God. Being patriotic means it's impossible to be prejudiced. Making ludicrously over the top promises. It was gutter politics in action.

In terms of trying to heal the wounds and bringing people together, this was a complete joke of a speech and one of the worst speeches he could have given.
No need to heal wounds or bring ppl together. He/They won. The rest of us have to suck it up.

This is what Obama and Democrats failed to realize.

The sace spaces and cry-zones will be full tonight.

Shit speech btw, turned it off midway to watch Trailer Park Boys.

It must feel pretty amazing to get into bed tonight knowing you don't have the weight of the world on your shoulders though.

It also must be pretty weird to go to bed knowing you're now the President. I wonder what his first day entails tomorrow.... 'here's where you can make a brew..'?

He's taking the weekend off

I can't do nothing if you are a snowflake bro
nah I'm not triggered, but seeing violence executed by the supposedly more "tolerant" sides, and hoax hate crimes to target innocent supporters does have me genuinely worried.

sorry if it feels like I'm referring to you but the so-called "progressives" have been increasingly unhinged in the past few months and I don't know what to take seriously any more.

Obama claimed it was on its knees but they'd fix it together, talked of the terrorist network and the need to tackle it but also to seek peace, and well Obamas promises were always lofty.

That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost, jobs shed, businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly, our schools fail too many -- and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.

These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable, but no less profound, is a sapping of confidence across our land; a nagging fear that America's decline is inevitable, that the next generation must lower its sights.

Obama said the same usual stuff but talked about a collective effort that gave everyone hope and was much more diplomatic. Main difference is Obama's second half of his speech was hopeful and powerful where as Trump shouted his campaign slogan.

It may be that his speech gives 'them' hope but not us and Obamas was the opposite. Seems so from the wackos on BBC news

There's something I don't understand. Right wing comes up with legendary conspiracy theories and outright hate speech and it's all fine and it's left to the late night comedians to make fun of, but as soon as the liberals issue a call to arms, everybody is worried about tolerance

When Obama took over, the country was right in the midst of an economic crisis, so his speech genuinely made sense.

His first words as president: "Buy american, employ american".

Unless he is a dictator, he can't say something like this.

 quite the contrary in fact.
How many right-wing satirical shows are there again?

snowflakes are hugely annoying to a lot of people (as can be seen in the political shift of 2016)...

Ok, yeah. Fair enough. I guess it all seems less offensive when there're a coherent narrative with an inspirational final act. Trump's shtick seemed so hollow in comparison. And the jingoistic patriotism, saying "feck you" to the rest of the world was just crass.
