So in a sense Bush is the anti-Jones. One was beloved in the beginning, disappeared for ages while we raged at other, and is now hated. The other one is Bush.

I would say Trump is heading towards 40 and the closer we get to an election, I believe it will drop even further.

This is what has happened since, with a higher approval rating *among Dems* today than he had among the public as a whole in 2008.

I think that's a little unfair on RooneyLegend because clearly he's carried out extensive research and read through lots of totally impartial data after searching for "reasons why hydroxychloroquine DOES work" on Google.

If the vast majority of people can’t see through this then fcuk em, they deserve him. And if the electoral college can’t get to correct answer then throw that out. Some shaking up needs to be done.

Also, the bit about being an independent thinker is actually nonsense. There's no plus in being independent; critical (to see through bullshit) and rational (to question your own prejudices and intuitions) is what we should aim for. So if you see a strong scientific consensus (on climate change, GMOs, or hydrochloroquine), you accept it, cause there is nothing to criticize as a lay person and it's the rational thing to do. Being independent gets you nothing but rabbit holes at that point. (And so here we are in this discussion.)

That really shows how far the Tea Party, Birtherism, and now Trump have shifted the Overton Window so far to the right in the last 15 years. It's been quite a depressing last 8 years in the political realm especially as the public has clearly shifted their support for things like legalized cannabis and single-payer health care.
