Once Stone get’s pardoned, the US has officially gone from the home of the brave and free to the banana republic.

American politics seem beyond repair.

And the republican politicians will find it hard to to regain any kind of credibility. Although, with the way things are over there, it probably doesn’t matter.

I can't see them recovering from this.

It's the people though, the republicans don't have that thick a veil over their supporters' eyes. But no one has lived the consequences of truly terrible governance within several generations now, so they've forgotten why rules along with some decorum ever mattered.

Me neither. But then again, I heard on the news the other day that Trump polls better now than ever before, so it’s really more of a sad indictment of the American population that these bastards even stand a chance of winning again in November.

Yeah, as I wrote above, the American people has a lot to answer for when the dust settles. Having a wannabe tough guy in the White House who talks a big game (in the most idiotic way) and who will fight universal health care and lower the taxes to keep them “free” seems more important than any kind of decency and having the rest of the world laughing at them.

Trump is rehiring Priebus and Spicer apparently.

Translation: if you want me to fix shit for you then stop making it so bloody obvious that's what we're doing.

The man has literally bullied the two parties, the justice department, the country, the Constitution, and tried to bully the world.

Please can someone stand up to him. Ffs.

Yay so now we move onto the internal drop all your lawsuits or I'll use my power to remove funding/resources from your city/state. He will likely go through with it, get impeached again and then have it ignored by the senate. Doubt any of these republicans will ever do the correct thing.

I don't understand the point of this statement after basically overruling his own prosecutors and losing them all on the case in the process. He already got bullied.

I read the statement as:

"I am not going to be bullied or influenced by anyone" - I do whatever I choose to do, I'm not going to be dictated by Congress or the Prosecutors that work under me.

Trump's tweets "make it impossible for me to do my job and to assure the courts and the prosecutors in the department that we’re doing our work with integrity." - I make my own decisions and it's a coincidence what Trump tweeted, we just happened to come to the same conclusion.

Well, the prosecutor recommendations already happen in coordination with the AG, so in the Roger Stone case, he initially agreed to/ordered the 9 year sentence recommendation with his prosecutors.

Then he went and reneged on that after Trump's tweet and in the process undermined his personnel so badly that all of them quit the case, one even leaving the department in the process. This is the equivalent of showing someone up, a professional humiliation for any lawyer.

Now if he is saying that he got his epiphany and change of thought irrespective of Trump's pressure, that is extremely hard to believe.

Yeah. "Leader of the free world" my arse. Never mind the fecked up medical system, institutional racism, gun violence and trigger happy police force, their political system has been corrupted beyond repair

It all started with Citizens United though. How in the flying feck could they imagine that was a good idea

Even Buhari, the president of Nigeria can't get away with half this shit. Nigeria is one of the world's most corrupt countries ffs!

Effectively.
My country is fecking corrupt but I am 1m% sure the president can't threaten to withhold a state's funds cause some people in that state took him to court.
My country is quite corrupt as well. The justice department has a lot of power though and already took down one Prime Minister.
Unfortunately the army has so much power and effectively controls all the money and policy.

I keep seeing stuff about the badger thing. As if it's anything but cute and humanising.

He would absolutely win re-election if he just went from state to state asking questions about its wild animals.

Here's a thought. If Trump gets reelected, and does the usual impeachable crime, do you think the gop would be willing to throw him under the bus, considering they will get 2-3 years with pence and also can go to their base in 2024 and say we did the right thing, while fulfilling their agenda with a more suitable puppet in pence.

No.

Same as Bangladesh, it's meant to be a multi party democracy but in reality it's always been 2 big parties and now it's effectively a dictatorship because the main party has gradually killed off opposition using trumped up charges. Yet the current PM knows she has to placate the supporters of opposition parties otherwise they'll start a civil war.

That would be political suicide for the instigators. Like it or not, the GOP is now thoroughly the party of Trump. That might change for the 2024 election (if he wins 2020, otherwise sooner), but right now he's got near absolute control over the party. He's also very popular among the base, which probably is the exact reason why he's got so much control of the party in the first place.

I’m far from an expert on US politics, but from the outside it seems like money and an astounding partisan nature of their politicians have corrupted it all. I mean, where I live just yesterday the PM got slaughtered by a number of members of her own party for a proposed bill. You’d never see that in America - at least not from the republicans of today.

Because?. He would bring the whole lot down with him?
Because they've learned that they can stick together and their voters are going to vote for them. All they have to do is bang the drum about abortion, the military, and how liberals are un-American and they get their votes.

According to nytimes, Barr hired external prosecutors to review the Flynn case. He's basically saying to Trump, you don't have to put this on Twitter, I'm already going above and beyond to save you and your shitbird friends.

Saw he's taking $1.6B from OCO funding to pay for this stupid wall (as part of $3.8B overall). OCO supports overseas contingencies and operations. So much for supporting the troops!
