The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Maybe, but you can’t interpret meanings to words that are not clearly there. That’s pulling the race card needlessly. The Dems should keep that for obvious situations.

Watch a VICE News report today, millions of US citizens regularly made a trip to Mexico for cheaper medicine.

How much cheaper? Well, an insulin shot that cost $530 in the US was sold for $17 in Tijuana.

The wall makes sense now.

Wouldn't be the first wall to keep people in instead of out.

Again, the word ‘infested/infestation’ in and of itself isn’t racist, but it has a history of being used by the right in decidedly racist manner throughout history, and in the case of our Cheeto Overlord here, only when he insults PoCs or African countries, and who by the way is also undeniably racist by both words and deeds.

The fact that you seem to think calling out a racist man for using racist insults is ‘pulling the race card needlessly’ speak more about the state of US’s sensibility than anything else.

What's the point of the supreme court except just being a real high up group of dudes who will rule on everything exactly down party lines? The supreme justices should be independents.

In fairness, the vast majority of SC cases are not decided on party lines. It’s just a few bit ticket political items where the partisan divide shows through.

It would be great if they were all really independent, but good luck finding independents who both parties will confirm in today’s political climate.

Implicit allusions to insulting, boneheaded attitudes such as:
'Black people can't organise things or govern themselves.'
'Non-whites choose to live in squalor.'

Etc.
Nah, that's a lazy shortcut IMHO. He is an asshole of the highest order but in this case I think that's a bit of a stretch to say it's a hint of racism. Against the congresswomen, it was clear cut for me. Disgraceful stuff

That's the point, though. With the congresswomen it crossed the line from dog-whistling into straight up overt racism. Now he's back again, but that doesn't mean it's not racist. That's what's so ominous about dog-whistle politics. The people he's talking to can tap their noses and say "I know what he's really saying", while leaving plausible deniability for people like you.

People like me ? Do describe me please

Although I have no doubt what he said regarding the congresswoman, a few days ago, was without a doubt racist, I have trouble understanding it to be the case in this latest controversy. What am I not seeing ?
The district in question has a black majority. He also used similar language with a similar district in Georgia. Plus with the Squad going 'back home' to their squalor, ****hole countries, etc.

Perhaps what's your missing is the narrative of majority black communities being inferior and not able to govern themselves. You'll see this trotted out about the crime and poverty in Baltimore, South Side Chicago, and other places. It's a well-worn white nationalist trope and was obvious in this case, to me at least.

People who wouldn't accept his hidden message. No need to read anything more into it than that.
It's a hidden message as long as you interpret it at that. Trump isn't that clever, whatever he wants to say, he says it. He doesn't refrain from it.

Why are you assuming I have missed all of that ? I'm well aware of that the main issues with the city of Baltimore. It's easy to call anything racism tbh, Bernie Sanders, a few years ago also came up with vicious criticism of Baltimore and I don't think he was called a racist for it. Baltimore does have a serious issue with rats too. You're making me feel like I'm siding with the devil here, I'm black, muslim and defo not american. I have no real appreciation for Trump. Just trying to look at it from a neutral perspective.

Not having it. There's a wealth of evidence from a long life that Trump uses dog-whistle politics. I agree that there's no master plan, but you don't have to be clever to use dog whistles.

And to him, he is saying what he wants to say, since the people who matter (i. e. are "in on it") already know what he's talking about.

We have even a Fox News anchor saying it was racist to the WH director of communications, yet somehow this is still debated here on the Caf.

Gaslighting at its finest.

Trump is a virulent racist and is the President of Racists.
Unfortunately the Democrats are pushing a candidate who offers nothing and as a handful of us here have said are setting ourselves up for an even more racist monster in four years time even if Trump is defeated.

So the subpoena against Jared and Ivanka is not the news anymore and whatever Trump said about Baltimore is. Trump is very good in managing new cycles and deflecting attention from issues.

Right. Bernie’s non racist phrasing actually proves the opposite point to what that guy wanted to prove by posting it. Shows how to address the issue in the right way

Ah fair enough, sorry I misinterpreted it. Looked at first glance like you were doing a 'so when Bernie says it, it's okay?' type thing.

We'll never agree to it I guess.
