If the GOP wants to have a future as a moderate centrist right-wing party they have to do the opposite, instead. They can't become Trump's party supporters.
Absolutely fecking disgraceful. Why is the US not rioting over shit like this? Why is the Trump administration and the US not up for human rights violations? Why the feck does nobody seem to be able to do anything to stop this fecking monster?
So many reasons. Half the country won't hear about it because the live in a bubble. The other half are angry, some of them might have even done some protests in the last couple years but are now just fatigued by the daily horrors that the current administration do. And mostly because it's so obviously not one man, or even a small group who is responsible. It's millions and millions of their fellow countrymen who not only find that behavior justifiable, but are finally free enough to admit part of them like it.
I have no idea how you get Americans to unite again. A good podcaster refers to it as a cold civil war, and it kind of is.

There are a bunch of political player tapping into this out of the norm voters on both sides. We are seeing changes in data collection on the internet on a scale never seen before and if you strike the right chord you will end up with enough vote.

Well for once racist and extremist has someone to choose for and promises them what they wanted.
There's that line that trump isn't that rich but he's what his voters think a rich man looks like, he's weak but is what his voters think a strong man looks like... etc.

Mankind is much dumber than us well educated caftards think. Whether Trump knows this and acts accordingly or Trump has advisers who know this and have him act accordingly by putting a Big Mac on a stick in front of him, I don't know, but the dumb shtick he does, speaks to them.

Trump knows, his team run metrics on talking points. He's always saying the same things because he knows that it resonates with that base that is pretty much keeping him in office and out of jail at the moment. The sad thing is people are so predictable and easily manipulated. Dumb and smart alike...
Even the very idea that the president should embody regular people is silly. No one wants to be operated on by a surgeon that's just like them (unless they are a surgeon). Being POTUS is incredibly complex; a POTUS should be way more gifted than a regular Joe.
That's not entirely true if you ask me. He should embody them on an ideological level. A president should hold roughly the same beliefs as the people that elect him. I do agree, that he should have more aptitude for governing a country obviously.
Sadly, I think Trump is pretty spot on on the former.

During the election I watched a trump supporter being interviewed outside a rally, he complained that Obama sat in the oval office and did nothing during September 11. This guy was in his late 40's. I'm sure he has been corrected a number of times but didn't care to listen to how counting works. These people aren't just dumb or uneducated, they are willfully ignorant of the basic reality of evidence to distinguish between truth and lies.

I try to put myself in the shoes of somebody who has a believe that is then convincingly debunked, and all I can rationally think is that these people don't care for facts and truth. They want what they want.... I call them cnuts, but maybe there's a better name for them?

It's something I'm always trying to exolaex to my mother who's entire opinion of America is shaped by CNN, even though she has two daughters living there. She thinks Trump is this deeply unpopular man who has gotten there by crook alone.
Imo, 25% of Americans agree with Trump's policies, don't just like the delivery. They want a polished turd like Mitt Romney. The other 25% are full blown MAGA folks.

I read somewhere that most americans dont care about gay rights, lgbt issues and all the posh politicians value. They want jobs, tax break, and immigrant out sadly. Trump is the first presidential candidate in a long time that promises to cull immigration.
If the next guy gets their hands on the google database he's had big knowledge on what the voters will vote for and that is dangerous.
This already happens in my country. The minority senate will just pander to the minority voters and secure their seat simply by promising absurd things and hateful stuff they cant deliver. Who cares what happens after they get elected.
