In that the GOP voted him in regardless of credible accusations against him. The GOP controlled Senate won't vote against Trump either no matter how much evidence The Special Counsel or the House bring against him.
They will have to if there is sufficient evidence of real criminal acts and perversion of justice etc... There is a distinct possibility that treason could even be on the cards.
If the Republicans don't act properly then they will just lose when election time comes round and there is a serious risk of civil unrest if they choose to deny or ignore any criminal acts or charges brought against Trump.
The corruption and enabling can only continue for so long before it truly comes to a head and a serious backlash starts.
