To be honest, people defending shit like Keano's tackle on Alfie all those years ago really winds me up too. Defending a rapist or abuser is unfathomable in my mind. feck party allegiances, this is about right and wrong, acceptable and unacceptable. Legal and fecking illegal. Bunch of morally bankrupt cnuts the lot of them.

It may be about right and wrong but its being done within the context of two groups vying for political power, so in a sense the Dems are weaponizing existing MeToo sentiment to gain power on behalf of their group, just as the Repugs used whatever power they had by way of controlling the Senate in 2016 to block Garland from going forward. Going forward, literally anything that can be used to thwart the other side from gaining more power will be used.

Word is he may get canned after the mid terms. But if he stays I don't think anyone would complain since he is doing what Republicans want and has so far rebuffed Trump's attempts to politicize the department by starting a 2nd special counsel for Trump's wild goose chase against Stzrock/Page/McCage etc

He's admitted in 2 books that he was a blackout drunk during the time this incident took place. The fact that he doesn't remember it could be dismissed by his own writing about his blackouts. There is no way with what he has written that he would come out of that hearing with any credibility at all.

The thing is that it would look bad for him if he testifies but he should have no choice in the matter. He should be subpoenaed.

Even if he was invited, surely he would get a story straight with Kavanaugh and just deny everything? Unlikely he's going to confess to attempted rape.

She is right that there should be an FBi investigation before she faces the committee.
It's just going to be a "he said...she said" in front of a highly partisan crowd of old male GOP pensioners. I would do the same if I were in her shoes.
The GOP are going to use her not testifying as a cover to jam this through. The fact that they won't call Mark Judge is a disgrace.

But then one of the Dems could bring up the quotes from his books about the things they got up to while at Georgetown Prep. "You say you have no memory of this incident but in your own words there were many times that you blacked-out after drinking while at Georgetown. How can you be sure that this incident didn't take place on one of those occasions?" You don't use him to prove that the incident actually happened but use his previous writing to underscore the behaviour of him and his best friend while at school there. This would underpin the testimony of Doctor Ford.

She will be credible even if it is "he said...she said".

Seeing him lie and seeing the Republicans attack a victim will not endear them to women.
 
The funny thing is Mark Judge saying he doesn't want to go public after he has already done so.
