The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

The media has to take a lot of blame too..I mean being too pro Hillary.

Did anyone remember the Florida early voting reports by MSNBC?

They pretty much said Hillary had won Florida with early votes.

Crazy. How many people did not bother to show up???

On Election day I mean.

People say that the Dems should nominate someone outside the status quo, and inexperienced, but I'm not sure. If this Trump regime does really bad, people will want to hit the reset button in four years time and the likes of Hillary Clinton will be seen as good options again.

I don't trust Bloomberg.

Warren? perhaps. Age?

Newsome/Gabbard would be my pick.

Though Duckworth would be worth looking into too.

Edit: Duckworth won against a headwind. Not a main candidate But as a VP pick.

Yes, Newsom/Gabbard would be a strong pick. But I guess it depends on whether Newsom runs for governor and wins. If he does, then he'll probably run for President. I guess Gabbard will run as well. Then it really depends on who gets the nomination. Yes, I agree, Warren will probably not run because of age. The rest of the field is unpredictable. I guess Cuban won't run after being seen with Steve Bannon. That will be used against him by the Dems. What was he doing with Bannon??

I don't know why people keep bringing up Gabbard. She's a complete light weight and frankly too young for a job involving the possibility of becoming President.

Cuban would be a fantastic pick as long as he delivers a proper progressive agenda. He has zero baggage compared to a sitting governor or congressperson and could actually go toe to toe with Trump without getting hammered like Jeb, Marco, and Ted did.

 Thanks for the kind words everyone, sorry I wasn't here but I was too busy picking up the toys I threw out of my pram and wallowing in self pity.

Thanks anyway though :)

His voters are now complaining he's getting all those bankers in an is getting the "foreclosure king" as SecFin. Stupid shits. They wanted to vote against the "establishment" and "Wall Street" and voted someone in with a golden member card in both.

What does the Caf think about Kanye getting all cuddly with Trump?
I've read both Trump's & West's purported reasons for their meeting, but I suspect that Kanye has put his business interests before all else.

Not Trump but....

Weirdo

Shkreli is the definition of pond scum.

Before 2008, who even really thought of Obama. Ok he gave that speech in 2004. But even then, whoever thought he could win in 2008.
I have mentioned Gabbard. I'm sure there will be others. Ellison and the progressives will find someone who appeals to the vast majority.
Personally I want to see someone who appeals to all sections. Not go for strategy,. But seriously appeal to all people. Obama did that. But it was first step.

We need to keep focus and not surrender to corporate America
.
So what do you think of you're protest vote now after looking at Trumps cabinet nominees? Would that protest vote been better served on a state level instead of inflicting The Trumps on the world.
I do believe you're protest vote has put everyone in serious danger but that is you're right and I applaud you for that. So as the right are saying " suck it up buttercup ".
Also, what's you're opinion on Gavin Newsom, do you think he is someone we can all get behind in 20 or 24?

Agree with most of you that Clinton was not compelling tho, most of the votes for her were against the other guy I'm guessing...
A pretty valid strategy if you ask me. For fifteen months I kept telling everyone not to forget the other option is The Trumps because make no mistake, a vote for him was a vote for his kids. We now have five or six presidents and while Donald holds a summit with Kanye (because he said if he did vote he would have voted for trump) there is someone in the next office looking to feck us over for money or push a religious agenda. Trump has a few dozen Dick Cheneys around him while Bush had one. I do believe Republicans have become a serious global danger to everyone over the last three decades and have been emboldened by the election. Hopefully Dems and a few more independents can put up a fight in 2018.

There are obvious no Obama type people out there, not even close. He's a once in a generation type political actor. Gabbard is way too inexperienced and frankly there are no other candidates out there that I can think of.

Also, people are obviously living in a delusional fantasy world if they think people like this have a snowballs chance in hell against Trump.

Personally, if Gavin Newsome wins the Governorship, I think he should run. He is progressive, photogenic, and in his political prime.

In terms of out of the box options - Mark Cuban would be great.
The Dems certainly need a dream ticket next time around and a Warren/Newsom would be fantastic.

Democrats only turn out during presidential elections....this is why the republicans OWN local govt. Until Trump unexpectedly gave them this win, Republican thinkers were 'ok' with the democrats winning the WH - because as they've shown with Obama - they can stop most legislation and while Democrats get to feel good about the Presidency, Republicans continue to win and make sweeping changes in local and state matters.

Yes, there's "fake news" sites which write articles with no basis in fact which often get shared on social media. Most of the time they are extremely obvious. The MSM is trying to lump in any independent media outlet that goes against their narrative together with these bullshit social media stories. They are two separate things.

Silverman used a tool called BuzzSumo to find the highest-performing legitimate news articles — stories from sites like the New York Times and the Huffington Post — and then compared them with high-performing stories that peddled false claims like “Pope Francis shocks world, endorses Donald Trump for president” (he didn’t) and “FBI agent suspected in Hillary email leaks found dead in apartment in murder-suicide” (this didn’t happen).

What actually happened: There was no truth to this story, originally reported on fantasy news website WTOE 5 news, despite the fact that the article said: "News outlets around the world are reporting on the news," Snopes explains. The pope is actually sympathetic to the Muslim refugees whom Trump wants barred.

Endingthefed.com and wtoe5news.com have removed the story.

What actually happened: A total lie based on, but entirely unrelated to, an unexpected budget shortfall of $2.6 billion (£2.1 billion) reported in June 2015 by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Snopes reports.

The same article was published by the Red Flag News site several months earlier.

Ending the fed has taken the article off its site.

What actually happened: This wasn't even an original fake — it was a recycled hoax, Snopes reported.

This isn't an insignificant issue.

I can't find it either, but someone posted a great video just after the election showing a focus group of voters discussing their reasons for voting for each candidate. The amount of misinformation that's seeped through to these people was astounding - you may have a basic grasp of critical thinking and sourcing your news (or not, I don't know), but far too many people don't, and social media makes it easy to attack those people with propaganda.

A silly story to lighten the mood a bit.
If Donald Trump weren’t so adamant about the lofty height of his IQ, you’d maybe start to think that sort of a little on the—how to put this?—not-so-bright side. Case in point: An anecdote about the seemingly inevitable future leader of the free world that recently resurfaced from an 2008 interview professional wrestler Triple H of The Opie And Anthony Show. In the midst of recounting an anecdote from about a year earlier in which his father-in-law and WWE CEO Vince McMahon faked his own death in a fiery limousine explosion (as one does), Mr. H opened a weird little window into the President-Elect’s brain.

Apparently, the day after footage of the fictional tragedy occurred, a concerned Donald Trump called the WWE offices to inquire on the safety of the husband of his future potential Secretary of Commerce. “Did something happen to Vince?” Triple H claimed he asked.

Here’s the extremely-real-looking footage from that 2007 episode of Raw that apparently caused the confusion:

In Donald Trump’s defense, he was not not the only one hoodwinked, bamboozled, and hornswoggled by that deceptively directed and edited segment. WWE.com ran with the story as if it were true immediately after it aired, and because WWE.com is a credible source, a number of mainstream media outlets apparently followed suit, causing a lot on concern with people who are dangerously credulous. None of those people save one would eventually have constant and immediate access to the nuclear football, though.

Mind you, this is the same person whom a few months earlier body-slammed and shaved the head of McMahon in the epic “Battle Of The Billionaires” during Wrestlemania XXIII. Did he forget about that? Does he also think that was real? Does he genuinely believe that he is a billionaire? So many questions.

That is why the governor races next cycle are so important because districts will be redrawn very soon after that. I would still like to see people not affiliated with either party run, give people a decent option and not a comedy figure like Johnson or Stein. Bernie was not a democrat but needed that democratic cash. If he ran as a true independent and made it a proper three horse race I have a feeling we would not have a con man as president.
Another thing for me this year was the republican congress got away without a mention from any campaign apart from Bernies. This is the real reason in my opinion why people are having such a hard time of it. To try and repeal a presidents signature legislation nearly sixty times knowing he would have to sign it himself for it to be repealed is just fecking shocking from a government of the people. Republican governors never gave it a chance to be correctly implemented and the one or two that have show that like all big government programs that start off with teething problems it can be tailored to a states needs. And the fact that congress have done nothing but obstruct anything to make the ACA better or do anything for jobs kind of confirms a lot to me about a person who voted for Trump, they have the same attention span as the man himself and refuse to get to the root and cause of their economic problem. They voted for a man who makes it his business to screw over people exactly like them and promised to bring those jobs back, which will never happen unless they are willing to take a pay and benefits package similar to Walmarts.

 Love the sarcasm in that story. By feck the man is a fecking moron.

Wait, you are surely not saying Trump resonated because he was honest and sincere are you?

He resonated with white working class voters who had lost jobs because of these Trade deals.
Even before he took office he tried to save jobs with that Carrier plant in Indiana for example.
He wants an infra structure bill passed. This will help them and others too.

Obama tried get a jobs bill too, but it never got done with a Republican House.

Now Trump will have to back up his words.
Hillary offered nothing to these people. Why she lost.

What a lot of people don't realize is that Obama was being touted as a future president in or around 2000. If the Dems had someone of his ilk, they'd already know about it.

He resonated with people who fell for his bullshit. Any reasonably smart person could see through his bull if they cared to take a proper look.

Same thing with GWB. Americans, for whatever reason, just fancy change for change's sake after an 8 year POTUS. They did it with GWB thinking it would be harmless but then 9/11 happened and he was exposed as being completely unprepared for such a crisis. I fully expect something similar to happen to Trump.
