The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

I' just waiting for the inevitable De Vos backed plan to arm private schools and push an agenda to that makes parents feel like if they want their kids to feel safe to take them out of public school. Her shit eating grin at times during that listening session at the WH was a bit disturbing.

The fact he thinks schools being gun free zones is a bad thing that must be addressed should be the wake up call the sane 60% of the US needs.

You follow these nuts much longer and your country will disappear. It really is as insane as you can get.

As someone who's not American, I'm struggling to understand how the president of the United States uses the phrase 'gun free schools', even putting aside the fact that he says they attract trouble.

Some concepts do not fit with each other. Think of phrases like a 'prostitute-free church', 'phosphene-free air', 'rapist-free family'. It's like taking something safe and pure and mixing it with something sinister, normalizing it. And then imagine people saying what you need is a juxtaposition.

All I'm probably to say is, I'm deeply disturbed. The USA is fecked up.
He’s getting 40% approval in polls... or thereabouts

He's exactly right. And that's why in human history there are no known examples of active shooter situations on army bases or incidences of people firing a gun at armed police officers.
I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry about that but you re exactly right. I can't picture any teacher going guns blazing searching for a shooter on a property as big as your average school - not to mention the cross fire that might ensue etc. The argument has time and time again showed to be a completely stupid one yet folks still believe it actually is a great solution. Maybe if we bring back shootout standoffs like in the old West. "Hey there mass shooter guy, how about it's just between you and me. Get in position"

If the outcome wasn't real, I'd actually welcome the idea of arming teachers, just so we could put a camera in the room to watch what they did when a shooting went down.

There are basically two kinds of people who can stand in the line of fire and remain calm during a lethal exchange of bullets. Psychopaths, and people who have received extensive training in doing exactly this.

A teacher is going to hide behind their desk (or shield the kids), and either not shoot at all, or aim the gun over the desk, without looking and empty a magazine fragging who the feck knows how many children in the process.

For the few times it makes a bad situation better, many many more times it's going to make a bad situation worse, as a psychopathic shithead is shooting up the school, while a terrified untrained teacher is spraying and praying in the shooters general direction. Instead of evading, let's just turn the campus into a game of Player Unknown Battlegrounds. Everyday at the start of class, kids get to run around scrounging body armor and assault rifles so they can feel safe the rest of the day. However, let's just hope little Petey who has a temper doesn't get picked on by Mark and his friends!

It’s interesting that a little while ago, a WH source leaked that feeling in the WH is that Trump needs a major incident to recover his approval.

Shortly after I think Trump actually said he needed a major event to unify the country - although usually major events are bad things - or words to that effect. It was as if he was realised that it would be good for him rather than the nation and he wasn’t sure where he was going with it. It was one of those times where he’s obviously paraphrasing something he’s heard and you can see the very short thought pattern he’s taken to get from on place to the next... it’s usually “you know nobody actually knows this but...” aka “I just got told”.

Anyway, regarding a major incident, the Florida School shooting, despite being “another School shooting” is starting to feel like a bit of a watershed moment. Trump, his fellow Reptiles and the NRA PR teams seemed to have completely misjudge the mood and underestimated the kids who have been incredible in the way they have risen out of this horrible event. I’ve been blown away at how self assured, tenacious, percipient and eloquent they have been.

If there’s one thing teenagers hate, it’s having their opinions and concerns dismissed. To be spoken down to or even worse, ignored. I think you’re going to see a tonne of young people motivated to make a change happen with each and every election they become eligible for.

I also think that while Republicans have been laughing for a long time at the control they have over traditional media and some forms of social media, they’re not going to know what’s hit them when this generation starts voting. They’re going to have a very hard job getting their narratives into and controlling trends that happen on platforms like Snapchat.

The frightening thing is that he needs a major event he can control; and then appear proactive, commanding etc. A shooting isn't that kind of event. Cue WWIII...

I am sure he can brainstorm some ideas with the Russians.

Can any of our American friends on this forum explain wtf is going on in their country? Do they realise they have become a laughing stock around the world?

Posted the other day by a fervant GOP/Trump supporter (my fecking grandmother no less). This is the mind-numbingly ignorant tribalism the sane people in this nation are dealing with.

Not to mention the fact you're most likely up against a complete headcase who's not going to be nearly as terrified as yourself in that situation.

And said "good guy with a gun" trembling from fear and anxiety isn't going to get near the intended target when firing off rounds. One flinch will send a round inches/feet off target at various distances.

And who will provide that armed security? Perhaps a certain Prince to the rescue?

You have to remember these are people who truly believe a "good guy with a gun"™ could end a shooting spree in a dark theater, so anywhere else is simple - just find the perp and shoot.

Gorka! OMG!

That reporter has far more self-discipline than I would have exhibited in that situation. I also don't think Gorka would have dared pushed a man of similar height and body build. I don't swing in those moments, I'll just crack your trachea with a quick chop, then I'll ensure you get immediate medical attention.

Sitting here at work listening to my co workers talk about how great it is that trumps tax bill gave them an extra twenty bucks per week. It's infuriating
The impact of something seemingly so minute to you and I should not be understated. Because of my job I know how many people live paycheck to paycheck and trust me it has little to do with how much the person makes. I've had people making six figures get upset because the bank delayed their deposit by a few hours or because a workers comp check arrived later than expected. Personal finance management 101 is lost on way too many people.

Why, then, are your ratings so bad?

This after his cowardly self declined the invitation and chance to talk to those brave kids face to face

Its funny how he bizarrely drops Carlon's twitter handle into the middle of his tweet, despite the fact that its completely irrelevant to what he's saying.

Yes, folks, it was the fake-news media that shot those kids.

Just tagging his buddy I suppose, it is bizarre.
