A decent 4 part series on Trump starting on Channel 4 tomorrow evening at 9pm, and tomorrow it will be followed by this that looks amazing.

Seriously, I have no words. What a fecking moron.

Still can't believe that I had to actually use the argument that Gary Younge uses in this tweet in a thread here on the Caf. Who was it again here who was using Spencer's argument? It was in something about colonialism.

@Irwin I think, the "ethno nationalist".

He should of deconstructed the reality of his positions. So you're proud of slavery, that must mean your proud of torturing slaves? And you're proud of your ancestors raping slaves would you like to be able to rape black women today?

I'm not Englishman, well what is your definition of an Englishman? "Originates from England you say so not....."

What are your thoughts about DNA findings that show some Neanderthal DNA in white and Asian peoples?

How do you define the 6 million white Americans who technically have African DNA?

He'd be confused and spouting nonsense in no time.

Trump seems to be pulling the strings on this.

A closer look shows that AT&T can sell direct TV and the merger can go through.

"Justice Department is asking Time Warner to either sell Turner Broadcasting — a group of channels that includes CNN, TBS, TNT, and Cartoon Network — or for AT&T to sell its DirecTV division in order for the deal to be approved."- NYT

Doesn't sound like a punishment for CNN. Maybe I'm naive

I'm currently teaching my unit on WWII. I kick it off with a couple days on the ideologies surrounding the war. I'm gonna show that video in that tweet tomorrow as an example of how Fascist thought came about.

They shouldn't have to do any of the above as this is just Trump attempting to strong arm CNN because they are scrutinizing his corruption.

AT&T just bought DirecTV not too long ago for about $50b and shouldn't have to sell it just because Trump has decided to play politics with this. There is nothing monopolistic about any part of the deal.

Knives are out! Suppose Bannon's influence is very limited at the moment though and he's never been much of a fan of McConnell's ilk anyway.

Yeah he seems to be getting a bit desperate - no longer in the WH and less influence over Trump. He's now reduced to snarky Breitbart headlines and whinging to Hannity.

When Trump was asked last Thursday by Fox News host Laura Ingraham about the impact of more than 100 senior State Department positions that remain unfilled, he said the positions weren’t needed.

“The one that matters is me,” Trump said. “I'm the only one that matters because when it comes to it, that's what the policy is going to be. You've seen that, you've seen it strongly.”
I don't know what the appropriate emote is here, what the feck?

It's getting clearer and clearer why Putin wanted Trump to win, Putin is a sly fox and he knew what a disaster he would be, he knew that Trump would drag the US through the mud and he knew it would leave a power vacuum for him to exploit

Wow! Part One of the 4 part special - Trump - The American Dream on Channel 4 was fecking brutal. Sex exclusively in the 70's and 80's this week and I presume following that trend for the rest of the series, each programme a different decade. He literally has always been this much of a narcissistic cnuty moron. I saw little difference between then and now, just experience, he's far more manipulative and he spoke a little quicker then, but the piss poor vocabulary, self aggrandizing, constant going over the top exaggerating, lying and nasty, vicious attacks are no different than today.

I've seen countless programmes and read a few books about Trump but so far this series has shown a few things from different viewpoints, and to me, explained a fair bit more in film than previously I had only read about. I strongly recommend it to anyone who gets the chance to watch it. It's sickening at times, because, well, he is sickening, but it's Channel 4's work so you know it's going to be top notch.

For what it's worth, the kids I showed this to today were dumbfounded.

I show the other half of my kids this tomorrow. We shall see how they react.

The whole show was great to be honest. It really showed (in parts) how white America thinks and feels, surprisingly many Trump voters regret it or think he's done feck all for them. The opioid crisis parts were distressing and upsetting, and the constant racist undertones throughout were unsurprising but sad to see too. It was a decent programme. For the record, there were some rich white southerners interviewed who were just slightly more articulate about their historical racist beliefs than Spencer.

Younge could've nailed him harder here. Don't think he did all that well, actually.

From a journalistic view, it was poor to end the interview as an emotional response and not get more from it.
I guess Younge showed him for what he is well enough though. Maybe that's all that was needed.

I'd like to see a Theroux documentary on that guy and the alt-right. Think he'd be great at squeezing him, making it dead awkward and eventually telling him what he really thinks.

Thought it was a pretty poor attempt at an interview and frankly I don't know why people bother continuing to interview Spencer since they are going to get the same talking points each time. Also, its pretty delusional if Younge thought he could roll up to interview Spencer and somehow change his mind by debating him with facts.

Yeah I thought Younge was disappointing. Also dont think he deserves much credit for keeping calm, he's a journalist, that's his job. And its not like he can have been even remotely surprised by what he heard. He was never going to change Spencer's mind but he might have changed a few viewers' minds if he had done a better job. As it is I cant imagine a single person watching it will have changed their opinion one iota having watched that. White supremacists will have concluded that Spencer rattled him and that he couldnt handle the truth.

I doubt he wanted to change his mind, I think he just wanted an educated debate so he could argue his points. What he got was risible claims and boorish, imbecilic remarks opinions which aren't worth the wasted oxygen trying to debate in an intellectual manner.
