The Third Redcafe Sheep Draft

Problem with this "good drafting" strategy is that you're very vulnerable to being sheep'ed. By which I mean, you're not likely to be sporting any obvious match winners/vote pullers, so your strength - if there is any - lies in the composition of the team AND in the fact that you're not sheep riddled. Getting even one sheep in your XI is thus potentially very damaging.

Aye, we were happy to build a unit around relatively under the radar names. Its not looking like such a clever plan now.

Let's work together here and block everyone so we can pick from different WC. Think peeps.

That was because Chester submitted before Gio clarified the rules. At this point, it's not really the same situation.
I suppose if Isotope didn't read through the thread before making his picks he can only blame himself. Meh, what does it matter, noone will get a pass this pick anyway..

Let's hope we block/pass all players from 98 but im not counting on it

It's easy to get misled, when people just go with the FAIL/PASS result post, which is where the Alert goes to.

I've submitted picks, based on the two scenarios. So it's up to @Gio and co, then.

Edit: It doesn't matter anyway. Still went with the first picks.

My pick is the most obvious in the history of mankind, yet you guys let me go... :D

Come on, let's get this over with. I hope we can all move out of 1998.

It worked in your favor this time. Everyone knows who you're going for, so no one wanted to get stuck in that World Cup after blocking you :p
That WC is probably the 2nd best to get stuck in after 98

most overrated player in history of sport? we are a good bunch so in the name of love we let him be with you:angel:

Clearly not. Both '90 and '94 are easily better, for starters. There are relatively many players in your WC who are eligible - but also a bit shit, or at least not likely to be of much interest. Plus, there are a couple of blocked ones in play. Conclusion: Not a nice place to be stuck after you've done your part and blocked your hero.

One could even say, in fact, that going for the block was a potential kamikaze mission. If multiple managers went for the block, this would very likely be the case. Truthfully, I actually expected you to get your man here, since blocking him for the sake of blocking him was never worth it.

Having reviewed the results here, I really can't kick myself too much: There were two other combos I considered. One of them will turn out to be picked, I'm 99% sure of that. And getting stuck in that WC is no better in theory than the present situation. The other one I might've gotten away with by the looks of it, but it would've entailed picking a pretty underwhelming player as part of the combo (and the other one ain't what you'd call truly top shelf in an all-time draft either).

That's the positive spin on things we like to see.

In these sheep infested times, one has to grin and bear it - or lose it altogether.

I feel sorry for the committee, though - it's a day's work selecting all them sheep (presuming you'll have to allocate based on what people need position wise).

they are not locked to the certain WC so there is plenty of sheep candidates out there....

Come back from having two finals in one day to getting crushed (albeit obviously). I'm going to get my revenge by posting my picks a few minutes before each deadline.
Just kidding, already submitted.

If we get sheep, can we specify what position?

Was thinking the same thing. If it turns out to be a shitload of them, it might actually make the committee's workload more bearable if people state what they lack.

ETA It would also make it harder for the managers to moan about the sheep they get.

Positional preferences would be welcomed for the 11 managers likely to get one or two sheep here.
