The Sunday Herald with Ronaldinho doing alot of talking about United...

The point is that SAF has failed to control players in almost 100% of the cases where that player had a problem that could be described as "unprofessional" in the footballing sense. Be it drink, drugs, partying, being disruptive within the dressing room/training ground, or cocky. Almost all of the players that did this were sent packing.

That article, are you sure that it is genuine and not made up? There is already a lot of rubbish flying around the internet.

'And I guess I'm attracted to it because few Brazilians have made their mark on English football. I talk to Gilberto Silva and Juninho often, they tell me about their life in the Premiership. And I think how wonderful it would be to be the first Brazilian to really become an important Premiership player.'<hr></blockquote> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

I think he just insulted Gilberto and Juninho! :D

More importantly, I don't sense too much of his supposedly arrogant attitude from reading this article. He doen't hesitate to criticize himself, and says he wants to get better. Sounds a bit like Ruud, and we all know what a great professional he is.

Let's hope if he comes to Old Trafford, he'll adopt an attitude similar to van Nistelrooy's.

So it looks like Ronaldinho is coming to OT. If we do manage to get him, do you think that he will be the only signing? There are also a few other players which we have been linked with.

A lot is hanging on the forthcoming weeks. Before saying who we'll sign we should wait and see what happens with Fab. Maybe his departure is not quite cast in stone. If we dont sign an expensive keeper, some wing competition (Qauresma) and an experienced defender (Ayala) would be on the list.

Nobody disputes his obvious talents, but certain things about him worry me: Stories of his freetime activies, and the fact that he's only scored nine league goals in France this season (hardly set it o fire has he?), are some of them. An a few sentences stuck between quotation marks, obviously not given originally in English, will not change those worries.

Everyone was crying out for a "word-class" partner for Ruud a few weeks ago, yet here are people now getting excited over a player that hasn't even hit double figures in a very weak European league. Solskjaer has the same number of goals and he's mostly been playing on the wings. Scholes has 5 more.

If SAF really is keen on him, then fair enough, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Well, if Ronnie was to leave PSG, he most likely he is coming here. But if he doesn't come, who do you think Man Utd should get instead?

Weaste, watch PSG and the shit he has to play with. He would get his share of goals in England and set up alot for RvN. In good tradition I suggest you bookmark this post should Ronaldinho join us. :)

Why? We dont even know if he is the main strike target. United will not be putting all of their eggs in one basket, and will have approached or will soon be approaching several clubs regarding the transfer of several players.

Good point Kevin. On the pitch Ronaldinho admitted that he is not doing that well at PSG, and said that he wants to play Champions league football. I would say that he is likely to join united.

I forgot who it was who said it, think it was Peter Kenyon. He said that PSG should have sold him earlier, when United were offering more for him, £20 million i think it was. Now they are just paying around £12m???

Thomas Christiansen doesn't exactly play with a team of stars does he, yet he's still won the German Golden boot with 21 goals. Would only cost 2-3m too.

And you really think that RVN will get a lot more goals with Ronaldinho playing next to him? Hmmmmm. 35 league goals next season then? He could have had that last season if he hadn't missed so many. Ronaldinho isn't going to change that.

Maybe, but it doesn't say that he's our number one strike target does it, just that we might be interested! It's all about testing the water at this stage.

I guess. But he will be high in the summer transfer priority list. He is still young, and may have a lot to offer united. But then again, there is Kluivert and so on...

We do not even know if signing a new first choice partner for Ruud is even one of SAF's priorities (I do not think it is), as Solskjaer, Scholes, and Giggs have done a fine job in the role this season. Our priorities are elsewhere IMO. But being 23, and at a very cheap price, SAF might be tempted. He wont always get a game start though IMO.

Weaste, Ruud didn't perform that great this season in PL goal wise. A good support striker would definitely improve his tally of openplay goals and if he gets the same amount of pens who knows where he might end up?
IMO he would bring a general improvement to our attack: more skill, more pressure for the opponent, more pace, and all in all more goals for not only RvN but other players as well.

It's all speculation of course and I could be damn wrong, but if Fergie brings him in then as you said we should trust him.

I would say Patrick Kluivert, might be a better alternative to Ronaldinho. I am kinda confused. If Barcelona wanted to keep him, wouldn't they have offered him a contract by now?

kuivert has a far worse reputation than ronaldinho to be fair. he was caught drink driving killed a girl, not good, then allegations of all sorts of sex nonsense.
add that to his very public shunning of united in 98, when he said he'd only ever play for arse (read saf's book for the story), and then i dont want him at united thanks.

Ronaldinho didn't play tonight against Auxerre, put on the bench by Luis Fernández.

<a href="http://www.psg.fr/fr/news/show.php?id=3293" target="_blank">http://www.psg.fr/fr/news/show.php?id=3293</a>

Maybe Fergie told them not to use him!! ;)

<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

The bench is where I think he'll spend more than 50% of his time if he signs for us. ;)

Well argued, but where is this 9 goals a season in a very weak league wonder going to play in the 4-5-1 then?

Right, so who are you going to drop then? Scholes? Verón? Keane?

This is the problem:

'But I think lining up as a second striker is my best position. I like to have the freedom to go wide -- right or left, it makes no difference to me -- and deliver crosses or take on defenders. Ideally I could play off of a strong centre forward.' <hr></blockquote>

Is not compatible with:

'I won't be trying to change the way we play,' Ferguson added, 'just strengthen the defence. It would be very hard for us to change our attacking philosophy, and I see no reason to when we have contributed so much to the competition this year.'<hr></blockquote>

Which signifies that were a staying with the 4-5-1.

hes only played 19 games and not everyone as a striker

how many times have you watched PSG?

If Fregie decides to get Baraja or any other defensive midfielder,he has hinted that he might
play(4-2-3-1)two blocking men(Keane+1) in the middle like RealMadrid. So our midfiled would look like

--------------Keane-----DM--------------------

-------Becks-----Veron/Scholes---LinkMan/Giggs---

If the Linkman is Ronnie we might benefit alot.

and you keep quoting fergie hes also said we need abit of cunning and magic in europe

So you are playing a linkman on the left? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Yes, but that doesn't mean dribbling down the middle at defences with the ball does it?

Great, lets throw all our histoy of wing play out of the window and try to go down the middle.

Its not the left postion. He is the playmaker behind Ruud just like Raul.</strong><hr></blockquote>

So he sits in the same position as Verón/Scholes then does he and we do not have any left wing?

Look at your diagram.

and why would that happen

So what is he going to do, what added value does he bring if he's not going to use these close dribbling skills of his (supposedly in the middle of the park)?
