The Sunday Herald with Ronaldinho doing alot of talking about United...

The same could be said for Veron and you rate him.</strong><hr></blockquote>

I think that we needed a player like Verón. It was his signing that shook up the formation properly from the getting stale and predictable football our old way of playing had become to some of the football you've seen us play last season, especially in Europe, and especially against Juve. I've always said that we need additions, this closed season. What I am saying now is that there are other options to Ronaldinho.

Look at the first page of this thread, it's like we've already signed him. That's what I am objecting towards, and trying to provoke some thinking on the matter.

Aimar is rather small and light weight 170cm 62kg, Ronaldinho is 182cm 76kg. Size is not everything, but it's an important factor in PL. If both are the same price, I would think betting on the latter is safer (but Aimar is actually more expensive at present). Nevertheless, I would be happy if SAF sign any players in the same class as these 2. SAF always know best. Most if not all of the expensive signings in the past decade have been excellent.

I've not once said in this thread what is right or wrong with people's opinions, not directly disagreed, but rather asked them to say why they are thinking what they are, and providing possible alteratives into the argument, and arguing the case on why they think the chosen option is the prefered one.

I used to teach software design and programming, and many students after completing an assignment could not say why they had done something a certain way.

There was nothing wrong with the way they were doing it, but there were quite a lot of other ways to do exactly the same way as any programmer here will tll you. So I always tried to get people to think in different ways and then make a choice as to what was the best. This requires lteral thinking and then internal debate for the lone software engineer and group debate in a team.

Something similar to what I'm tying to do here. Prvoke some thoughts amongst us as to what the optiions are and why certain ones are better than others.

whats your option?</strong><hr></blockquote>

I dont have any at the moment, I'm still thinking about it. We also do not know how much we have to spend. Should I just assume it's a bottomless pit?

I could give my priorities of what I think we currenty need and then try and fill the players next to those in order of importance to what I see as our needs.

That's a different topic however, this is concerned with our possible options in signing an attacking player.

Yeah, but even the Fawlties destroyed Liverpool, so I don't think that is a fair comparison. ;)

I would think most fans have some reservations concerning his temperment, and rightly so. We all saw how Disco just became a waste of space.
On the other hand most would agree he has the kind of talent that we lack; a player that can beat his man, that can carry the ball, step on it, as we saw Figo, ZZ and Ronaldo do against us.
I don't expect him to pull the team like Ruud or Keano, but you can't have everything. The team already has a strong spirit and work ethic so it is not in danger. Also he is showing respect towards the team, so If he does join which is looking increasingly likely, I think he deserves to be given a chance.
