The Sun: Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard handed a lifeline as Ten Hag is prepared to offer a chance

The Sun has never made up shit before?

This, feck that

Sure they have but we’ve seen too many leaks from ‘sources’ close to the player that bang on about working hard in training, spending 25 hours a day practicing or asking Ronaldo how big his muscles were at the same age to spot a Rashford leak a mile off

His mate always gets a mention too. What was the one last time? Sources say Rashford works hard in training and players baffled why Lingard doesn’t start more?

Moreover what a dull thing for a journalist to pretend to make up

Thankfully this is The Sun and all that kind of lark... But, if Rashford is here next season, I can definitely live with that. But if Lingard somehow survives yet another manager, then fml.

Three pages of posts over an article by "Richard Moriarty", a journalist that doesn't exist. Just look at the previous stories from the supposed journalist.

The key with these articles is the wording, all that’s been stated re: Lingard is that Ten Hag will speak to him (we’ve already heard he’ll speak to all players) and *if* he gets the reassurances he needs (he won’t) he *might* stay.

All weasley insubstantial nonsense.

Pseudonym’s are fairly common in journalism for quite a few reasons (including protecting sources). At least it’s an obvious one.

If Ten Hag is starting off by giving Lingard a chance then no reason to have optimism about next season.

Different manager, same shit.
Wouldn't that mean giving him a new contract likely for more money that he is getting now, which is too much for what he gives. I actually can't see it. Do think he will want to take a look at Rashford.

Maybe the Caf's predictions of a wholesale clear out are wide of the mark
They will be (wide of the mark) simply because we won't be able to get rid of a lot of the dross due to their wages.

Lingard will be gone though. More nonsense reporting.

I’m sorry, is that second quote actually saying that if ETH give Lingard the assurances that he needs, then Lingard could be convinced to stay…

For fvcks sake!

Those who think there is going to be a mass clear out when Ten Hag takes over, do not understand the Glazers.
Lingard is out contract. Very straightforward situation. Rashford will stay which is perfectly understandable

:lol:so United need to persuade Jesse to stay

I kind of understand this. The guy has spent 95% of the season on the bench/out of the squad. If other teams will make him a first team regular then I’d want assurances of the same from United before signing a new contract too.

He’s not good enough and needs to go though.

Wait..... So you are saying the Sun posts made up stories by made up journalists??

I suppose next you'll be saying Dear Deidre amd Katie Price aren't real and have been made up all these years too.....

Selling is not only way to get rid of players from first team, dunno why people are stuck in that mindset.

No, no please no. Get that mimsy prick JLingz out the door please, at long last. Rashfords worth at least trying to save, but there was never anything there with Jesse to begin with let's be honest.

These are the players briefing the media all the time..
Dont believe this..
Don't really want it..

Just move on.

Lingard has shown at West Ham how well he can play if given a chance - I dont see a problem with this rather than giving him away

You can't seriously believe this?

He broke into the Utd first team squad in 2015. He's played 230 times for Utd.

How many more chances do you want him to have? He's blatantly not good enough for Utd.

ETH is the manager and if he thinks these players offer something he wants to the team then that's it. Doesn't matter what the "experts" think.

You heard the man, time to close this site down.

Just have to wait and see when Ten Hag arrives. Media have us down as interested in every player in the world.

I'm not surprised. Unlike many here, I never believed there was going to be a massive clear out other than those whose contracts were expiring.

The likes of rashford, martial, Lingard, telles, Bailly, dalot etc will all be given chances to 'prove themselves' to the manager. And thus this cycle of mediocrity shall carry on.
Sure why the feck would he want to leave.

It should be about whether the fraud wants to leave or not he's not prime Messi.
The club decide.
.
The Sun

The problem with Lingard is he thinks he is better than what he is, that he should be starting rather than on the bench.

After it's clear he isn't playing regularly anymore, his form has dropped completely. Just like Rashford, compared to 2 years ago, he just does less.

Would have zero surprise should ETH see both these players as very useful ones for him.

On the contrary I would be very surprised if He can find use for such limited players as even at their best they were only suitable for pure Counter attacking football but hopefully we would be moving away from that next season .

I don't understand why you'd think that. We have years worth of experience to suggest they are not good enough for a team aspiring to win the league, yet you come to the conclusion that a smart and tactically astute man like Ten Hag who demands 100% from all players will look at them and see useful players.

I think it's more a case of some people trying to convince themselves that Ten Hag is a miracle worker and will turn water in to wine, when in all likelihood he'll be no different to Klopp and (to a lesser extent) Pep and require overhauling the team and signing players who fit the system before challenging for any major trophies.

Your standard english player bias from journos again that want english players to stay at united.

Just watched Henry Winter on stretford paddock yapping about how Declan Rice and Kane would be the best fit for united - without mentioning any foreign players.

What;s worse is he even mentioned we should sign Rice and make him captain straight away...
