Pogba almost certainly makes the World XI on this season's form.
That's about as elite as you get.
His career is far too young to be talked about in the same terms as a legend like Xavi though.

I don't know how much it would take to sign Kane because I suspect your club wouldn't want to sell but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a club willing to offer more than about £50-60m for him, even in this crazy market.
Spurs may request a world record fee (or close to it) but that doesn't mean anyone would actually pay it.
In the last 5 years we would've had a cluster of academy players winning the league at United in 2013. Another 3 I believe at Leicester.
If we're including all academy players, Pogba in Serie A and Pique in La Liga. Also Giuseppe Rossi playing in the upper echelons of both leagues.

That's why I said if he was sold today it would likely be for a record fee, because that's what it would take.
There would be no chance of signing a young English striker regularly scoring 20 PL goals for £50m. Goals are the most valuable and therefore the most expensive commodity in football.

Pique and Pogba were academy products at United.
Whoscored is pretty awful. Like genuinely...really awful. I believe they had Fazio rated as the best Spurs player a couple years back.
That said I do think Pogba has been great for you guys. World XI probably not. Hasn't had the luck of the end product for that so far.
They were signed at 16 and all played in the academy going up. Rose having a couple Leeds games doesn't make him a professional.

Rose can't be an academy product because we signed him at 16, but Pique and Pogba signed at 16 are Utd academy products, makes perfect sense.

I'm not saying I agree with you but it's certainly not the definitive way to measure a player by any means.
The trouble is Glaston Rainman only thinks in numbers so I was trying to talk in his language.
Dismissing it entirely is a bit foolish though. If you look at their European XIs from the last few seasons you'd find it hard to argue with too many. Some defenders probably get over-rated due to offensive contribution but it's pretty spot on for midfielders and attackers.

its a fair question, a lot of the players we've brought through have grown up locally and been at the club since 12/13 or even younger. For me that is properly home grown.
Paul Pogba made the FIFA World 11 in 2015, and missed out on the 2016 team by the tiniest of margins.
So no, it's not laughable to suggest that he deserves to be there.
A few good games? He's been playing at a World Class level for about 4 months now.

Nope. It's so clear he's going to be a dominant force. His early form was just him adjusting to the PL. His potential far exceeds anyone from Spurs, that much is obvious.
Yeah difficult to argue with this. He's nothing special but because of being English, playing in the PL and being a decent goalscorer it would need silly money to get him. That would in turn mean that none of the clubs that could afford him would bother to offer so much for a player who isn't really worth the money it would take. Therefore he'll be at Spurs for a little while yet.
I thought I'd have a quick look at 'WhoScored'.
They claim to assist bookies, media, even clubs for opposition analysis and the funnily enough don't list any clients. The ratings from their 'unique algorithm' look like complete garbage.
He had a superb last season with Juve, then a decent European Championships being played out of position, then a fairly brief settling in period lasting a few weeks with United, and for the last couple of months his form has been up there with the best midfielders around. He'll only get better, barring injury. He can still improve his finishing and defensive work.
It's just Opta under a slicker guise. Opta is definitely used by the top teams.

He might, he might not, whether his potential exceeds Dele Alli is debatable. Alli is the most productive player under 23 in Europes top 5 leagues over an 18 month period, and he's still only 20.
Pogba might well become an elite level player over the next couple of years, we'll see.
So have half the United team according to some United posters on here ... so it's funny how you sit just one place above mid-table.
I'm not much of a stats man, the OPTA stuff we see is very simplistic to what the clubs use. I posted something in the stats thread from a proper stats company.
