Referring to Moyes as "legendary"??? ROFLMAO

How old are you again?

Taking even the slightest criticism against the full might of Spurs seem to be a personal attack for you!

Even the best get it wrong, and SAF got it very wrong with Zaha - who is patently not at the standard Spurs want to be at.

The ease in which Spurs were overrun by a dodgy Liverpool team must be worrying, the lack of creativity and 1v1 specialists is something that has not been resolved in what can only be described as a below par transfer window for Spurs.

Wanyama for instance I don't rate him, may as well play a centre back in midfield, him paired with Dier is the stodgiest midfield.

Also, the pairing of Kane and Janssen seems a bit redundant, since neither are dribblers, or pacy in any way, both looking to do the same thing. Spurs should have swooped in big for a speedy striker.

The whole having a settled team and manager thing hasn't really worked out.
You've looked ... okish so far.

I dunno, I guess you're a pretty hard working team normally and missing the extra bit of fitness is hurting you more than some.
Still, pretty much all of your attacking players are looking poor.

How can you say something hasn't worked out after only 3 games? Last season's start was even slower than this season, 3 points after 3 games as opposed to 5 points this season.

It was a pretty common theme that united, chelsea and city would struggle at the start of the season due to new managers and tactics
whereas spurs and arsenal would find it easier due to being more settled.
It hasn't worked out that way.
Its still early and united definitely have room for improvement but then so do you.

True, but I think Janssen in theory makes a good replacement for Kane if he's injured/out of form. Playing them together doesn't seem like a good idea however, for the reasons you state.

Based on what? So far we've gained the same points from the same fixtures as last season, but have 2 more points than we had after Game Week 3 last season.

Last season you played United and Leicester away(eventual champions) in GW1 and GW3. This year you lot had already played two home games(including one against Palace) and one away game to Everton who are neither going to be champions nor 5th this season. So comparing last season's 1st three games with this season is not correct at all.
Although you have gained same number of points this season as compared to the corresponding fixtures of last season, this season's performance is not as good as it was last season in these set of fixtures. Teams that are likely to finish around you - chelsea, United and City have improved a lot during the summer. So if you are going to finish 3rd like you did last season, you need to pick up more points against Everton and Pool. Just my two cents on the start Spurs have made so far this season.

Everton have looked fairly decent this season and liverpool will be there or thereabouts for the european spots so I wouldn't say they'd had easy games.
They've just looked really, really poor for large parts of them two games.

I didn't expect us and city to hit the ground running in the way we both have.
I expected (and still expect a bit) for chelsea to not achieve much and probably throw conte under the bus at some point but 9 points from 3 games is a good start by any definition.

It looks to me like the 'tiers' that became a lot muddier in recent years are (or will) start exerting themselves a bit more again.
I think us and city will fight it out for the title and finish a fair distance ahead of the rest.
Arsenal for top 4 somewhat comfortably. Chelsea will either run away with the last spot or it'll be a battle between half a dozen teams.

We've apparently poached Spurs U18 manager. Any idea how good is he Spurs fans?

Seen a few very unhappy spurs fans on Twitter. This McKenna bloke has apparently been with Spurs academy for some time and has done some good work.

United, Chelsea and City have started the season brilliantly and i think will finish in top 3 this season as they have both strengthened their squad significantly and got a manager who is capable of winning things. Clearly Everton away and liverpool home are not easy games at all but if spurs wants to finish in top 3 like they did last season, they would have to get more points in such fixtures this season for couple of reasons -
  • I don't see them getting 11 out of 18 points against City, United and chelsea this season like they did last season.
  • They will be playing in UCL this season which is a bit more demanding than europa and they can't rest Kane/Alli for UCL games.
It was important for Spurs to start strongly this season which they have not done.

He's been a work in progress his whole time with us. Going from being a young player who got injured and then decided he'd get himself into coaching. Personally I've liked his work with the u18s more than Ugo Ehiogu's work with the U21s and U23s.

I think it's definitely a big loss as he's been with us for a long time and has seen the shift in our youth approach. Not as big a loss as it would have been to lose McDermott as he runs the entire youth operation, but it's a loss none the less.

Any idea what role he's taking with United? I'm guessing he left because his opportunities for job growth were limited with us.

I presume its to take over coaching of one of the youth teams, probably U18's
Nicky Butt is kind of running the overall structure of all 3 from my understanding and Warren Joyce seems well regarded at the higher ages.

How are Spurs fans feeling about this season?

Still unbeaten. I think they'll get top 4
I still feel generally optimistic about top 4.

There have been some worries about the performances of the team in these first 3 games, but there's been plenty of positives as well. While teams like United, Chelsea and City have all had torrid starts, I think most would admit that City and Chelsea have had just as (if not more) concerning performances than we have and have ridden their luck quite a bit to get the results they've got.

I'm just looking forward to when the transfer window shuts. It seems like there's a bit of a transitional period going on with the depth of our team as players like Bentaleb have already gone and it looks like Mason, Carroll, and Chadli may be on the way out as well. Poch likes all these players, but it appears he understands its a necessary evil to have to move them on in order to bring in others. I'm sure most Spurs fans would agree that it's more preferable to lose these players in order to bring in new bodies instead of losing a key player like Kane in order to raise the funds. When the transfer window shuts and we have a solidified idea of what the squad is I'm sure we'll click a lot better and start looking more like the team of last year. This break comes at a good time as well as it allows some who have been misfiring to start (Kane, Eriksen, and Alli for example) to shake off that rust.

If it's a like for like swap with no gain in opportunity or responsibility then I'd be very disappointed. That being said it's incredibly difficult to know what all his duties and responsibilities are in order to compare them between the two clubs.

I will admit I am slightly pissed that the backroom area of the team is being affected during a time that appeared to show stability that us as fans haven't seen in a very long time. We've kept the key peaces Poch, McDermott, etc. but are losing some tertiary ones like Mitchell, McKenna, etc.

Its hard to say
Our youth set up is still a bit up in the air. I presume he'll have a fair bit of responsibility and involvement in ... redesigning (?) it
It could be definitely be an interesting opportunity

And I doubt hes on so much money that hes in a position to turn down a good raise if thats what its about.
Theres a lot of general life reasons why it might suit him more and i think applying the footballer style loyalty to club employees is a bit unfair.
Footballers are paid so much it kind of overrides a lot of the more mundane issues us mortals have.

Maybe "torrid" is over the top, but they've all won every game they've played.
I'd call 9 points from 9 torrid.

And given how poor some of our performances have been we're lucky to have 5. The first international break comes at a good time.

We're missing Dembele a lot - but just one more game of his suspension to go now. Our performances so far haven't been good, but 5 points is decent enough considering the fixtures. All in all, at this very, very early stage of the season I see no strong reason to think we can't finish top 4 again.

Torrid means hot

or difficult
neither really makes sense : /
Our fixtures have been pretty ok
except hull maybe who were on a decentish run and some of their players were very good yesterday

Its hard to say

That's a good point and for that I'd have a hard time being upset at him for grabbing the opportunity.

It is a bit worrisome for me as a Spurs fan though as we've still seemingly been trying to restructure and replace some of the good coaches and others who we've lost from the setup like Chris Ramsay, Inglethorpe, Sherwood, etc.

I wouldn't say our performances have been that bad. In fact I think the results are totally justified. The game against Everton was a game of two halves, we were garbage at the beginning and then good at the end and could have easily stolen the win if not for two great Stekelenburg saves. We were all over Crystal Palace and were unlucky to have had to wait for a last minute winner as we really could have won by much more. We were poor against Liverpool, but not poor enough to get totally buried, a draw looks fair, but even if it's a loss it's only 1 less point. Plus it was only half the squad against Liverpool who were misfiring - Kane, Eriksen, and Alli seemed to be the main offenders whereas I'd argue the whole defense + Vorm + Wanyama were actually all very good.

It could be something stupid like not being able to afford a house in london and the commute pissing him off.
Get why you might be disappointed though

No idea but I think he'll be our next U18 manager.

I think he must be enticed with all the free noodles, wine and Mr potatoe chips. I bet the benefits at united are immense

Yes he is good but he is not the manager, he is assistant to McDermott who is the main man in charge of all levels below the first team. Man Utd tried to poach McDermott 12-18 months ago but he turned them down.

3 games in, transfer window still open so its too early to draw any conclusions. No doubt we havent played well so far but we are unbeaten and have 5 points on the board which isnt a disaster.

I don't think anyone is even the slightest bit surprised to see those three teams at the top when between them they have so far only faced : Bournemouth, Hull, Burnley, Watford, Stoke, Sunderland, Southampton and West Ham being the strongest opposition (but both City and Chelsea faced them at home).

You lost to Burnley.
