They're the moral victors tonight.
And that's the type of victories they should get used to. It will be another season without a single trophy and embarrassing European campaign. I really rate and appreciate this team, they have some brilliant players, but if Poch stays empty handed for another season or two I'd say it's rather disappointing for the Spurs fans.

Ridiculous fans. Team having a great season and gave everything in the game, yet abandon them at first sight.

Spurs will always Spur. Always. Even during their 'best era for decades' they win absolutely nothing and fall apart whenever it really matters.

There's a genuine culture of 'almost' that runs through the club, a culture of 'nearly'. It's incredible really.

Goodness knows how they'll look next season playing at Wembley every other game - their results there are just awful, as seen this season in Europe, both in the CL and when they were dumped out of the EL by fecking Gent.

The good thing is Kane and Alli will now be realizing that if they want to win trophies, they'll need to move to a bigger club.

Would love to see either of them in this United side, and I really do think we will sign one of them this Summer or next.

In fairness, most of them do have to take a full 30mins getting home from Wembley

Certainly have no like of Chelsea at all since the lottery win days, but wanted them to win today.

Didn't want Tottenham to win a trophy, as although it'd be their one a decade, it'd be an all nighter of those little "memes" and all the Tottenham fans ever online, and giving it loads.
Quickly halted. Lovely.

When M.Oliver helped CFC beat us in the last round of the FA Cup, that pretty much sealed the double for CFC.

Yup.

They are so clinical you can't let Chelsea have shots on target. We're the only team that can stop them that way.

Arsenal and City can't defend well enough to stop Chelsea hitting them on the counter. Both will play like Spurs: play pretty, ship some chances and lose the game as a result.

Spurs FA Cup Semi-Finals

1990-91: won 3:1 against Arsenal (ended up winning the thing)
1992-93: lost 1:0 to Arsenal
1994-95: lost 4:1 to Everton (Elland Road)
1998-99: lost 2:0 to Newcastle a.e.t (Old Trafford)
2000-01: lost 2:1 to Arsenal (Old Trafford)
2009-10: lost 2:0 to Portsmouth a.e.t
2011-12: lost 5:1 to Chelsea
2016-17: lost 4:2 to Chelsea

Are these simply going to up similar to Newcastle of the mid to late 90's? All in all, I consider the best team of the last two seasons, and well quite comfortably really.....but their lack of killer instinct, especially given they need to make up for their slow starts is worrying, and the meltdown in Europe. Third times a charm? But I don't see them having another year with the Manchester clubs on the outs again, more or less the window has to be closed....but then again, I said that this year, would never have imagined City being so off the pace.

Good team and Poch has got everything possible out of that squad, just lacking that bit of star quality to give them the edge in ties like this, and in the league over the course of a season - although obviously they still have a chance to prove me wrong on that.

Spurs getting bitchslapped would normally make them go all Spursy but I think this team is better. It wont derail them from title bid imo

just the run of difficult fixtures while Chelsea are smashing M'boro & Sunderland, then?

agree though, they were a bit 'done over' today - better of the game generally, wonder goal against

You can't say that when they've won nothing...

Over the last 2 seasons think how many tournaments they've been in (2 PLs, 2 FA Cups, 2 League Cups, 2 CLs, 2 ELs) and won absolutely nothing.

We've won more trophies over the last 10 months than Spurs have won over the last 10 years.

They're bright, they play with spring and swagger, but ultimately, they're losers.

That's still not great for them. Portsmouth sticks out as a disappointing result more than the rest.

That was a pretty even match, that thundercnut from Matic did put the gloss on it for the Chavs

aye, maybe - just thought Spurs had a little bit of control of the game but kept conceding goals, which never really helps

I *think* that xG thing suggests the quality of Chelsea chances (altho fewer) was better than Spurs - altho they also got the completely fabulous Matic goal too close in too

Mourinho got it right with Chelsea.......and to be honest, Poch did as well for most of it, but when Hazard came on he didn't react. It's a bloody armada with him, but you have to react to that sort of substitution and he didn't.

Mourinho manages Man Utd mate.

Well I did, just like I would have said the same about Arsenal at times despite not winning anything. As a counter point, 2nd and 3rd > Winners and bottom half no? But either way that's a side track, you are correct that history won't remember them unless they win at some point, whereas Chelsea and Leicester will both be remembered.

Though obviously we(my generation) still remember Newcastle....so at what point do you actually forgot these exciting teams that don't get over the line?

Tbh who cares about the SF of the FA Cup when you've won the most points in the PL since the start of last season.

Oh I remember Newcastle well, I was a teenager during their 'Golden Era'.

And to be fair to you, I think that Newcastle era is definitely comparable to this Spurs side, that's a good shout.

But I maintain that you can't be the league's best team for 2 seasons yet keep losing when it matters most.

But it's subjective of course.

How can people say with a straight face that Spurs were a better team than Leicester last season? Leicester lost 3 times all season, including numerous results against the 'big teams' when it mattered. They played direct attacking football, many dominant performances and for the most part didn't look like they would be caught.

By any Barometer you try to apply they were the best team last season.

Anyway to not go off track, looks like another season of being the moral victors for Spurs lies ahead. Many moral trophies in North London these days. To be honest I like the work Poch has done, and it is good to see a club growing organically as Spurs have done, but the love in displayed by so many United fans somewhat makes me want them to not do well. Petty, but then so is most things about being a football fan.

Yeah, it's a ridiculous claim. You can probably argue that Spurs reached a higher level at certain points throughout the season, but your overall level across the 38 games is the only measure which counts. And by that measure, Leicester were significantly better than Spurs.

You gotta think this is Spurs last season where they will have best chance of the league. Next season Utd, City will be back to spending big and we will also buy big. Last year Utd, City and ourselves were poor so they had the chance to challenge Leicester. This season again they've come close, but the title is ours to lose. Next season will be very tough for Spurs, and they don't have the money to spend big to challenge again either.

Thought they played well but Chelsea were too damn clinical, kinda reminded me of our League Cup final against Southampton. Their record at Wembley sucks which must be a concern for them since they're playing all home matches there.

I feel for the Spurs today. They actually played a very decent game of football. They didn't really deserve to lose to day, but Chelsea had half a chance in the 2nd half and scored 2 goals. They've been clinical. C'est la vie
