I know there were changes to the interface, since you guys were talking about it in the WW game but have no idea what those are and how they work.
Not just the interface. The design change is just 1 thing. Players are now valued equally by every team. So you can't sign a player on the cheap from a big club and sell him on for a big profit later. The wages are really really high compared to earlier for players rated 87 (88?) or above. The new ME is supposed to give top players their due, they perform better than the random nature of the earlier ME. Not sure whether it's working or not though as its just been launched.
The big drawback of taking a club in div 4 is the player valuation system. People used to take it earlier as it's a great way to stockpile cash. You can't do that anymore.
Also, this inevitably results in risers not jumping in value as they used to earlier. Another big element of enjoyment taken out of the game which hurts the lower div clubs even more as that was the way to make money.
To be honest this was one of the thoughts behind taking a lower div team. Let's see, if I can dedicate proper time this time around.

Damiens got the best everything. Best stadium, best youth squad, best total squad value, best senior squad. My stadium isn't in the top 20, 2nd on youth squad, 4th on total squad value and 12th on first team.
