Gaming The SM RedCafe League

Maybe I'm just a total cnut... but I see nothing wrong at all with talking about who other players have bid on/are bidding on. If anything, it's just as if press speculation existed within the game...

Press releases are often bullshit.
While Clubs are aware of whether a player have had any bids from other clubs.
But that's like the shortlist feature in this game.

I don't see the problem either but seeing how people got so menstrual about it perhaps it matters to them.

I won't do it again. Sorry etc etc etc.

feck that... this game has been far too "friendly" and "nice", we could do with some real hatred/rivalries brewing!

Also, why would anyone want someone they're competing with closely in the league to have a free run at signing a very good player? That doesn't make any sense...

If people want to reveal what other people are doing, I think they shouild be well within their right too, sans backlash.

Imagine you spend hours researching a particular player, have things carefully planned you and all of a sudden you see someone else has registered interest in them.

"OK," you think "It's just one other person that is fine."

You then place a bid on that player when you're ready, confident that in a one on one battle you'll emerge victorious. Then, another person registers interest but doesn't have enough money to bid on them. They know that they are playing you in about a weeks time and would prefer it if you don't get that player as it would strengthen your squad so they make it public, and instead of there being 3 people aware of it there is 20x that. Would you be happy in that scenario?

It's not quite the same as what is happening here but it is similar. I had been looking at De Jong for a few weeks. Didn't register interest but had looked at him. I had been deliberating a few days whether to put a bid on and did do today. Looked at the opposition and quite a few of them wouldn't have been able to bid on him I'm confident of that. Nobody else apart from me had put a bid on him, and all of a sudden Cardiff says let the battle for De Jong begin despite there being no other bid and him not having the intention to put a bid in for the player himself. I'm sorry but that is not on.

Agreed.

That's quite a scenario you've imagined there Damien.

how much did Bayern rate Ganso as? I offered 18mil cash for Mata ffs :D part exchange deals in this are just unreal, this game at times haha!

Well I wouldn't be angry by that scenario. It would be annoying... much in the same way it's annoying that I've lost 2 games in a row, but as opposed to crying foul, you just say "well done those two teams for beating me"... much like here, you say well done those teams for scuppering my plans.

It's a game... games are played to gain advantages over opponents. It's not breaking any rules... I mean, it's not as if anyone is hacking your account and releasing all your players or anything! He was notified of your bid, he told other clubs you were bidding... he's well within his rights to do that, as he obtained that information through a perfectly legitimate channel.

Also, similar shit happens all the time in the real world (club A bids for club B's player, club B then tell clubs C, D and E that club A has put in a bid)... so we should be grateful that our pittyful, often unrealistic management sim is gaining some sort of realistic trait. The fact that people should be expected to sit by whilst the clubs around them get stronger and not be allowed to say anything is ridiculous in my humble opinion.

That's quite a scenario you've imagined there Damien.

Though it is quite realistic and close to what has happened here. Only thing different is there were more people interested in this case, but let us look at those interested:

  • Wolverhampton Wanderers
  • Crystal Palace
  • Everton
  • Sunderland - Transfer bans aplenty. May have some cash saved up but a) is it enough and b) would they have bid on De Jong anyway?
  • Manchester United
  • Manchester City - In debt, can't do transfers until after 8pm. Only cider knows if he was going to bid.
  • Nottingham Forest - Not bidding (well, from what RS has said I don't think he was).
  • Leeds United - Bid.
  • Cardiff City - No intention of bidding.

The other teams I can't speak for but there wouldn't have been many of those would have put a bid in if any.

But enough about that...

Bayern rated him as $18.1M, and it was something like $19.2M (when you use a player transfer).

I paid $13M for Ganso, and the 1.4M in cash, but Mata's value is now $21.5M

selling clubs letting others know of the bids is okay.
But as one of the interested parties, if you have no intention of buying a player, then he shouldn't go around telling other clubs about the bid.
That doesn't happen in real world as well.

Course it does, clubs/agents/people leak shit to the press/clubs all the time... why? To drum up interest from any/all parties and try negotiate the best deal, no matter where or who they are.

The only difference here is that players have no agents, and the selling clubs are CPU, they have no way of leaking such a story/notifying clubs who could well bid for their player. We therefore act as that service.

From a rules standpoint, there is nothing wrong with it at all. From a logistical standpoint, it makes perfect sense. From a moral standpoint? Meh, maybe people think it's wrong, but how much moral's exist in the world of football these days anyway??

I had interest in Luuk De Jong and nearly bought him last week as Balotelli's direct replacement but decided correctly that Younes Belhanda was the far better prospect. I've already got Bas Dost anyway, he's the real future of Dutch forward football.

In regards to TheBest and Varun. Should we impose a transfer ban on them?

They have both said they don't want to/don't have time to play anymore. So should we keep their squads the same so new players aren't ***-advantaged?

I'd love to bid on some of their players but it doesn't seem right.

personally i hate that side of football, so yeah i would prefer the moral version in this game.

Wouldn't that ban have to apply to other teams in the league without managers too from your logic?

Ganso rated that high by Bayern? feck me that is rediculous  Oh well, I'll have to look at other targets. I have 2 in mind but not as highly rated as Mata. good move by you though mate!

OMG, so many transfers going on. :( Carrick, MAta, Lescott, and maybe Berba, just to name a few.
I hope all you muppets go into debt.

Well not all teams have drastically been changed, but unmanaged is fair game. TB and Varun are keeping the teams until someone else comes along, so they are in charge of transfers.

Just seems like if they aren't carrying on they should leave the playing squad as it is.

They could both agree and then we have no problem.

And does anyone know what the deal is with these loans before the game starts, it's now let me re-call Bassong as well yet not others.

Nah, because they can't be managed. Preying on an unmanaged Prem club which would be taken over by a human is unfair, considering the AI accept any offer above a certain point, even if it's a poor one.

FAO Wolves manager: If you want Bassong back let me know ASAP.

Seeing as I'm playing you tonight!

Good point.

In the 74 days since I signed Ronaldo he's spent 35 days injured :(

And his record is still one of the best.

He means lower league unmanaged teams I think? They is already the restriction that you have to bid cash only but they wouldn't be much point them having loads of money if they was no-one left to buy.

And Damien thanks for the advice. I guess you are right, i should sell him, so i think i will be resting Kagawa tonight. Thanks. (:
lol jk, fak u damo

Sucker

And news just in Cardiff have just bid on.....wait I'm not a cnut :)

The computer AI in this game is terrible, i've just had a look through at some transfer bids... wtf!? No names mentioned of course, but its fecking weird shit.
