I certainly did not have seventeen players over 90,
The players I sold for cash rated over 90 were: Kompany, Tevez, Barry
The players I traded over 90 were: Dzeko (for Ronaldo), Clichy (for Marcelo), Hart (for Neuer)
The players still at the club over 90 are: Silva, Aguero, Toure, De Jong
That's ten players, not seventeen. I now have eight over 90, but a much better squad overall with greatly improved potential and longevity. I had £19m in the bank to start with, much less than many Prem sides; there's no Sheikh throwing money around in this game and my stadium capacity is far less than that of rivals Arsenal and United so my ability to make money whilst keeping a wage outlay suitable for challenging for the big competitions is diminished in comparison.
The reason I'm in debt is because I spent all the money I had from the Balotelli sale plus the £2m or so I had in the bank right before two consecutive away games. It's no big deal; my squad is complete now, I've faith on my players, I haven't bought anyone just to sell them on again once their rating rises like some back-market merchant, so I've no problem with allowing my balance to more-or-less achieve equilibrium (it creeps up gradually over time).
Manchester City is the future of football; we may be having to make do with only eight players rated over 90, but in twenty-four months time that number will rise to fifty-eight, such is the precision and dedication with which I've cherry-picked my squad. Compare us to a club such as Liverpool with eleven players rated over 90 but a first-team squad of only sixteen souls and you can easily see which team is gonna be winning things for years to come.
