Barry Hurt on Eve of England World Cup Qualifier

With the ink still drying on his contract, incoming England Boss Excal Excalsworth is faced with a last-minute personnel decision as Southampton Midfielder Gareth Barry suffered a strained thigh in the Division 3 club's two-all draw against AFC Bournemouth. Asked about this late-breaking news, Excal appeared unfazed by the potential headache. "Nah, I'm not worried," the England Manager said, "He wasn't getting on the pitch anyway."

Excal went on to claim, "He was rubbish against us," referring to Barry's Man-of-the-Match performance in a scoreless draw against Excal's Preston North End. "Man of the Match? Man of my arse! He did feck-all other than faff about in the midfield. Was a good reason them lot didn't score when I didn't half have my squad put together!"

Indecisiveness would not appear to be a failing of the new Boss. When asked if he had a replacement in mind, Excal responded in an unequivocal affirmative. "Absolutely. Know just the man to fill the gap." When asked who this was, Excal took a coin out of his pocket, flipped it, and confidently answered, "Milner."

If results can turn away fans then I might as well resign now. I'm playing a 4-1-3-2 and have had 2 0-0 draws.

I'm making a steady £300k profit each game!

Lucky bastard, that's as much as I was given at the start of the season..

You started off with only 4million?
I'm Brighton and I had 15 million from the start!

I just looked at my finances this week, and my team spent 52 000 on fecking ground maintenance. They better not have to spend 52 000 to fix the field every week. I'm going to be fecked financially if so, because I lost 27 000 and this was a home game

I've got two consecutive league home matches twice this season, as well as one home league match followed by a home cup match. I don't think I will be in the red once this season. Just need a decent Cup/Shield run, maybe even just play one or two games in each competition.

I've worked out that for every away match I will lose £280,662. If Iturbe returns from loan at any point it could be more, but also if Delph and/or Cahill are returned it could be less.

This is the breakdown from my home game:

Income:
Gate Receipts: £481,483
TV Revenue: £193,138
Sponsor: £180,556
Merchandise: £60,185
Total: £915,362

Expenditure:
Player Wages: £473,800
Ground Maintenance: £120,371
Total: £594,171

Weekly Income: £915,362
Weekly Expenditure: £594,171
Weekly Balance: £321,191

Gate Receipts, Sponsor, Merchandise and Ground Maintenance all varies depending on how the club is doing. My ground was less than 3/4s full. I've got another home game next but as I've won my last game as well as the first game of the season I expect I should be earning a bit more. My balance as it stands is £483k. After the next home game it should be around £800k, and after the next away game it should be around £520k. I've then got two more home matches after that so it'll rise again.

I'll leave it a few weeks and see how my finances are doing, but by my crappy calculations I shouldn't be in the red this season.

So while I was called transfer muppet before the season really began, I have been thinking about the finances and have been sensible.

It also helps that I've got a fairly large stadium. Those in Division 2/3 who have stadia around 20k capacity or below yet have squads of similar strength/wages around the same as I do, you'll be in a bit of bother financially.

Ok. Can you post your current balance as well as your income and expenditure from your home league game, your away league game and the Champions Cup home game? Will take me a bit longer to do yours but I should be able to manage it. Won't do anybody elses though as it does a bit more than a couple of minutes.

Current balance is £2,554,375
Home league game
Player wages £1,052,160
Ground maintenance £391,908

Merchandise £195,954
Sponsor £587,863
TV £456,152
Gate receipts £1,567,634

CL game
Ground maintenance £627,339
Wages £1,018,710

Gate receipts £2,509,356
TV £706,152
Sponsor £941,008
Merchandise £313,670

My away game it just lists everything as 0.

Like I said, don't have to if you can't be arsed, just would be cool if you're up for it.

Damien you're really lucky with your income there. Compare that with mine,

Gate receipts: 208,560
Tv Revenue: 193,138
Sponsor: 78,210
Merchandise: 26,070
Weekly Income: 505,978

Wages: 480,810
Ground Maintenance: 52,140
Weekly expenditure: 532,950

Weekly Balance: -26,972

And that's for a home game, although my ground was only half full. So if I get on a good run do you think my ground would fill up? Either way if it does or doesn't, I'd lose more on the away games than I would make at the home games. Not looking good for me

My finances look pretty good. I'll average about 1mill on outgoings for wages and ground-work per turn, but I'll take in 1.8mil per home league match and roughly the same with the Europa league home matches. My current balance is 319k in the black too.

Anyone want a friendly on saturday march 31st? Just send an invite or whatever it is if you want one.

Lost to a brilliant overhead kick :(

1 point from 2 games is poor tbh considering the teams i was up against.

So disappointed by rating increase of Unnerstall. I was expecting a minimum +5 but he rose to just 83.
Nevertheless still highest rated keeper in my league.

There seems to be a rule change or something.
Tuncay & Kjaer have had rating changes despite not playing in German league.
They are owned by German clubs but are loaned out.

Damien, I think you didn't realise the point people were making last night. You pay for Wages in your Away games too (which you'll lose money on). I think you'll be around about even though.

Of course I do, and I mentioned that in that post. Even accounting for that, I'm still around £40k up as I make more profit in home games than I lose in away games, and as I've got a few double home fixtures I'll be surprised if I do go into the red.

Piszczek went up 1 to become a 90 player and Jantschke did go up 2 to become 87 :)

See, so I would be 40k in the black like I said. I've got another home game next so I will be making more profit (already got nearly 500k in my balance), and in cup/shield games you don't pay wages so there'll be some more money received in those.

For some reason the Player Database hasn't been updated and theres no way in hell i'm going to go through everyones squad and list who's had rating changes!

Did you know: Swaziland have a football team called "Eleven Men In Flight FC" ?? Which I think we can all agree is superb.... not only that, but they also have a team called "Manchester United FC"

Liberty Stadium (20,532)
Attendance: 20,512

Looks like I'm earning a healthy 350k each week, which means that my balance is pretty damn healthy. Got dominated by Norwich though, so my tweaks in tactics were obviously a miss this game.

Why is that a surprise? :p Our squads are not that much different from each other. I think you should be happy that you're team came from 2 goals down and you're formation change worked and yielded a result.

I held up Arsenal as well in the season opener, a game I should have won if it had not been for shitty officiating.

France being reviewed now too. I have a few signings from there #fingerscrossed. My signings revolve around France, Italy, Spain and the original squad I have left. South America are all youths then whenever that gets done.

Oh btw Zarlak you need to treat Messi better, can't use him tonight against Australia now
