The Redcafe Top 100 movies

Spoons...not sure if you have seen it yet or not, but Build My Gallows High (aka Out of the Past), is on tv either tonight or tomorrow, can't fully remember...is on at about 2.00 in the morning. Great film noir with Robert Mitchum...was on that Film Noir list I did for you a while back.

Still working on the horror list, should be with you soon.

Thanks. But why are spastics that are not on the panel posting their lists in here?

feck off Rudie.

It was very average.
I thought it was just okay, but like I said, the book was so much better.
Great cast list though. How many times do you see Hoffman and De Niro in the same movie?
and it depends Reelworld. Are you going to stick American History X, Forrest Gump or Requiem for a Dream in it???????? They spoil Crappy's otherwise decent list.
Well the thing is, I don't know whether I've watched at least 100 decent movies. I've been trying to put up a list, but I don't think I can manage to reach 100.

This time next year, then. Make sure you watch loads of classics and all.

Sorry gents. Just got back from Vegas last night. No chance at all of putting a decent list together in time. Top ten was hard enough when I just thought about it.

OK Caftards, I'm going to have another one of my anti-classic movie fits in here and say that after reading the book, One Flew Over the Cuckoo''s Nest is overrated. A decent attempt at adapting it but a shadow of the book again.

I haven't read it. I almost never enjoy the movie over the book and if I watch the movie first I make it a point not to read the book. Usually anyway, it's not a strict rule or anything. One Flew Over is a great movie and I don't need a book to ruin it for me.

Remember liking the movie a lot when seeing it. Would probably had made my top 10 had I not read the book. But the book gives a very good perspective of the amount of chopping that the movie did not doing justice to some of the side characters and an amazing narrator. It does generate the desired effect from the book but lacks depth

It's the same as The Shining, the book is far superior to the film, but the film is still fecking great as is One Flew Over.

listen up spackers, this is not the fecking book club and i wont be serving fecking cookies and milk. get your fecking movie lists up

and you've left On the Waterfront out, Crappy. Sort it out man.
It's there. At no. 43

And I rate American History X and Requiem, let's just leave it at that. Forrest Gump would probably slide off if I see some other classics. I was not able to see as many movies I would have liked to.

Haven't seen Visitor X.

I fecked up and Apocalypse Now got lost off my list. This, I hope, is the correct version.

I have to include Amadeus in my list after watching it tonight.

But I can't do all the numbering again and I don't have word. So I am assigning the job to mehro or GB ( both can edit my post). Please include Amadeus before Terminator 2 on my list at 44, thereby relegating Sleepers off it. I am off tomorrow for 4 days to Goa, so that will be my final submission.

I'll finalise mine today.

Still waiting for Cinc's, Ole's, Dwayne's and I think Wibble's. (Peter's mentioned his will be in today). Should be some cracking lists amongst those lot.

A few thoughts:

-Much more fun than I expected, making me plug some holes and re-evaluate some opinions
-Tried to keep it to a maximum of two films per director
-Leant towards enjoyment rather than admiration though there are perhaps a few here to be admired more than enjoyed
-I think I have a tendency to overrate films seen either a long time ago or very recently
-I’ve seen a lot of these on a big screen and some films (particularly older b&w for some reason) suffer badly on a small screen
-Long list of “to see” now especially Asian stuff
-I suspect my list would be much different in a year’s time

Excellent list PS - good to see Quai des Brumes so high...I'm sure I forgot to include that on mine - shame on me! Similar titles as mine there too, although I think you have yours a bit more accurately rated tha I did...rather let my heart rule my head on a few, but nevermind.
