Gaming The RedCafe General/Random Gaming Chat Thread

Random one, but just started listening to a couple of my favourite soundtrack pieces from games - specifically Mass Effect and Deus Ex. Its amazing how a good soundtrack can really elevate a game and be so evocative. What are the best ones for other caftards?

Does anyone here play Halo Online? The version that was ported to PC.
I've started playing it lately, it's brilliant.
I used to play the original Halo for the PC online with some people from another forum a few years ago, it was fun. Is it the same kind of thing?

Can you create private matches and all that? We should make a Caf one.

It is. It's completely free, and it's the original Halo 3 online. You can create private matches etc. There's already quite a big community growing.

This is the subreddit link:

Cool, sounds good.

I just realised though that you probably need a powerful PC to run it, which I don't have
I'm running it on my laptop(a year old Lenovo with an i7 and geoforce graphic) and it runs perfectly, but I think it can be made to run on less powerful machines. Worth a shot.

So...I've been watching a playthrough of Max Payne 3 again, and I've just realised that the Galatians FC symbol is almost a replica of the Fluminense symbol!

Finished Skyrim these days. Just a bit over 30 hours, and I did only the main story, the mage quests, the Dark Brotherhood quests and the civil war quests.

I mus say that RPGs which don't have a strong story aren't my favorite games. I liked Skyrim, but I didn't found it special, despite that I acknowledge why other people really loved it.

I think the best story bits in skyrim are the random side quests like Frost-something tower (I think) where there's a lighthouse and a missing family within, and as you clear the dungeon you piece together what happened.

The main story and guild stories attempt what I think were meant to be epic set pieces, but they just fail utterly. There's definitely nothing gripping about any of them really. The Dawn guard DLC was a bit better in that respect

I'll never do another Bethesda RPG on console after running a heavily modded Skyrim on my gaming PC. I don't know how people do it...

Ubisoft in a nutshell:

Saw that yesterday, nearly a million views in just over a day. Bet they're fuming with that coming out a week before E3.

With that said, if they reveal a Beyond Good & Evil 2 trailer next week, I'll disregard everything in that video and get very excited.

One week until E3.

Not really sure what to expect. Apart from hardware there haven't been any leaks around games.

Last year we had a few games leaked out early.

No NX is disappointing.

Final Fantasy 12 HD just got confirmed for PS4 in 2017.

Such an underrated game, it's been so long since I last played it so that's a good excuse to play it again.

So quite a few leaks

Evil Within 2 - @Redlambs is going to be delighted!

Wolfenstein 2 - the last one was a great old school FPS. Expect this to be fun as that and Doom.

Watchdogs 2 - meh. First was overhyped and just another boring open world game.

Skyrim remaster - Good for those who haven't played it. Or for the poor people who played it on the PS3 where it ran like shit.

Dead Rising 4 - apparently has 4 player coop. I always enjoyed playing a dead rising game at the beginning. But then it got boring and repetitive.

You should play HL1 just to experience it, it was revolutionary at the time. Probably only take you a day to complete it, and good for the lore.
By a day, do you mean 24 hours give or take, or just an evening of gaming?
Not really, but then there is no reason to do that. As a great game Half Life 2 is, the original Half Life is even better.
The reason I ask, is that I was going to get Half Life 2, Portal and Doom 3 on my tablet, but if it's worth my time, I'd get the original on Steam first. Shame it's not on the play store too, tbh.

I actually couldn't really get into the second one, loved the first one.

No idea how it will play in tablet. They are definitely games to be played with mouse and keyboard. And well, the steam summer sale starts this week, so they will be very cheap.

I think that each of them is around 10-15 hours long, so definitely not something to be done in a day.

They should be fine on the tablet I'd imagine, I'd be using a controller, which I'd be using on PC anyway, don't much like mouse&keyboard.

10-15 hours sounds pretty good, I'll wait for the sale and get the first to begin with on pc, perhaps Valve will drop their prices on the Play Store too for 2 and Portal(probably not).

Anyone using RetroPi on a Pi3? Tempted to pick one of the bundles up to play some SNES games.

Does anyone know the best site for buying Steam CD-keys? I want to buy either S.T.A.L.K.E.R or one of the sequels.
