Gaming The RedCafe General/Random Gaming Chat Thread

PC port of Grandia II has been fixed (no more XP glitches, no more 1080p lock, no more 30fps battle lock).

So yeah, go grab it!

Added Grandia II, Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 & 2, and Wargame: Red Dragon to the backlog this week :wenger: There's not enough time in the day, but thankfully they all were paid for with the Dota 2 items I got from TI5

What's that Grandia like you're talking about, @Tommy?

EDIT: What a shitty sentence I came up with just then.

No idea. It's sitting in my RPG backlog with Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 & 2 while I finish off the Pillars of Eternity expansion. I'll probably get around to Grandia next week.

Ah alright it just sounded like you had played it before or something.

The amount of games in my backlog, 11 hours is a long time  Still, will definitely try it in the future if I can pick it up cheapish.
Yep, same here, it's almost a miracle I actually finished it! One of these days I'm going to type my backlog out and find a good place to start, it's getting ridiculous.

I'm currently writing a sentence or two for each game I own and the amount of times I'm saying, "I've barely played this" or "I haven't played it yet" is crazy  I keep getting more games, too.

I've been playing Super Mario Maker all day (which is great), and I was looking stuff up about it came across this Super Mario World hack... It's insane!

There are quite a lot of ones like that. They're all just as insane

There are some in Mario Maker already. The first level I tried was one actually, but on a much smaller scale. My head hurts thinking of how long it takes them to come up with how to make it all work.

The first free Shovel Knight expansion is out. Play a reworked (yet complete!) campaign as Plague Knight & Challenge Mode are the two biggest additions.

Plague Knight is damn hard at first.

Looking forward to getting it in October. Looks like the perfect kind of game for me.

What's the Mega Drive version of Ghouls n Ghosts like? From what I've heard and seen it's not as good as Super Ghouls n Ghosts on the SNES but that doesn't mean it's not good. I love this track from it

It's ok, pretty sluggish but still fun. I can't remember properly, but I think it was also easier than the Snes and other versions. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing

Yeah I think having an easier version of it would be quite nice  I still haven't finished it properly (the two times) on the SNES, and God knows if I'll ever be brave enough to buy GnG on the NES :nervous:

I have it, I completed it as a boy. It makes stuff like Dark Souls seem like a My Little Pony game ;)

The Snes one was more punishing, but a little fairer when you got good IIRC.

I'm pretty good at Super GnG now, it was just the very last boss I couldn't beat last time which was annoying. I've seen quite a lot of people saying that they can't get past the first level though, so I've probably just played it too much

Talking of hard games, I need to get Ninja Gaiden/Shadow Warriors sometime.

Shadow Warriors is a great game! That reminds me of a game called ninja spirit randomly, I loved that game too. My fondest memories are of it on the speccy, but the turbografix version looked awesome :D

Haven't heard of that one, but just looked it up and looks pretty cool!

I've never played a TurboGrafx :(

 Spooky.

I'll have to try and get one some time. I can't have there being a 16-bit console out there that I haven't played.

Gets a bit of stick, but it's a great machine! With more top games it would have been a hit.

One machine I always wanted to own but never did was a Sam Coupè. The only other machine of note I never had was a Neo Geo, but there was no chance of that!

I've never even heard of a Sam Coupè. Sounds rather posh!

I don't think I'll ever end up with a Neo Geo due to the prices. Luckily I've never had any interest/looked into them.

Epic machines, pissed all over everything else including arcade machines at the time (as it basically was one). But games were around £200 alone (though they were all great). Even I wasn't that crazy, though I did once pay £140 for a japanese Snes import of Super Streetfighter 2 Turbo as it was the day after release. And believe me, Streetfighter 2 was huge at the time, possibly the biggest supported game ever (considering also it was pre-internet so was all word of mouth). To this day, I can categorically state, it was totally worth it!

I'm not much of a Street Fighter fan. I got that same SFC version a few months ago with the intention of trying to "get" it, but I just can't. Maybe it's something I should have played when I was younger, there's just too much for me to figure out now.

I didn't pay bloody £140 for it though so I'm not too bothered

Oh well  Looked shite from the off tbf... Still remember playing HORSE on a 14" TV against my mate on THPS1/2 and later against my brother on 3 :) Great games.

Anyone still playing D3 on PC?

Part of the soundtrack in that video took me right back to my youth.

So many memories!

If you've never listened to this track whilst waiting 5-10 minutes for a game to load from cassette tape, you've never lived!
