Not sure if exceptional is the right term but he was a very reliable pair of hands, which is all you really want here. Unfortunately, with him being a Liverpool keeper there will be the odd person out there only too happy to point out how shit he has bee of late.

Thanks for your input. I prefer Villa on the left, and his most successful and memorable period came when he was playing out there. I think he and Muller have proven that not only can they score goals, but they also are great at working for and helping other exceptional goalscorers. With Batistuta in the team, that's exactly what I wanted..

Could quite easily flip my formation to a diamond if need be too...

For the record, I did have a good grasp of him as he was Cagliari's keeper at a time when Cagliari spent 4-5 years having all their foreign slots taken by Uruguayans so I kept track of them as much as I could. He actually was a very good keeper who just happened to end up as XXXX's understudy at Milan. It was a similar situation to YYYYYYY and Cech at Chelsea (god, there's a good keeper for you!).

I have to say I was surprised at the stats I managed to dig up for him, stats-wise he was basically the best keeper in Serie A :lol:

i am shocked that a certain player has not gone. i would have thought he would be at least a 6-8th round pick (i definitely would have picked him earlier)
 
Finally someone picks Kluivert. I rate him higher than a couple of strikers who were picked much earlier.

Kluivert had a terrific peak, but he should have gone on to be one of the greats IMO and it didn't happen - he had the talent.

Delighted to get him though, he was exceptional in that brilliant Ajax side.
 
Looking at the other teams, it seems Feeky may have been aiming to pick up Kluivert this round. You've really screwed him over. :lol:

Bergkamp-Kluivert would've been a great strikeforce.

EDIT: Just noticed he has Ibra as well. Hmm, not as screwed as I thought then.

Kluivert is still the Dutch top scorer and loads must gave have been assisted by Bergkamp

You both made the right choice imo. Litmanen is a handy option if you find yourself losing votes for a lack of creativity in attacking midfield. There's another guy out there I would have rated higher though. Kliuvert is a tremendous alternative option for Theon. Strong in the air, great approach play and a good goalscorer.

I agree that Torres is at his best on the counter with space to run into but this isn't a true reflection of Liverpool/Torres v us. The majority of those games were fiercely contested, 50-50 games all over the park with Liverpool edging the midfield battle in many of these games. In his first season we beat them home and away with over 60% possession in both and IMO they were pretty much the only two games we dominated in his time there. The following season they beat us home and away and he did take us apart in that 4-1 win but he didn't even play in the other game. In 09/10 he scored that early header at OT which had nothing to do with a high line and then he scored that memorable goal when he shoved Rio out of the way. We remember Vidic getting sent off 3 times in a row and associate that with Torres but he only contributed to one of them. Realistically it was just two out of 6 games where he even played well against us - the 4-1 when he destroyed Vidic and the game with the great goal one-on-one with Rio.

Largely irrelevant point in this context but worth mentioning all the same. I definitely agree that part of the reason Torres has failed at Chelsea is the system they employ but I don't think that's the main reason. Certainly Benitez showed that he needed that kind of setup to get the best out of him but he was still very dangerous (in spurts) in a Spain setup which didn't complement his style at all.

Good point about the games in particular.

I think his results for the Spanish national team has been overall very poor 0.3 goals per games and his best games was under Aragones who did not play the same way Del Bosque does. Since Aragones left he has had 58 games and 15 goals which is an average of 0.25 goals which is extremely low for a supposedly world-class striker in the best team in the world.

Just to name a few players with a higher scoring average in their national team. Defoe, Kagawa, Rooney, Peter Crouch etc.
 
Iso, you absolute thunderfecker! The first time in the draft that I've been genuinely disgusted with a pick preceding me. I was convinced he'd sneak through. Convinced of it.
