Man, I mentioned it earlier when saying keepers aren't so irrelevant, it killed me having Barthez (then YYYYYY) and my oppo having VDS (aka XXX).
People invariably narrow down to the core three and you can't argue your case with a straight face when the safe hands in one is VDS and Barthez in the other. You just can't.
I do think it is fair to make the argument that goofups only happen once in a blue moon, maybe twice a year with someone like Barthez so the odds for the one game are low... but in a tight game I sure would assume you are one goal the worse if your rival has VDS/Kahn/Buffon.

Yep. When the teams are very evenly matched you begin to look for anything to seperate them. On some occasions that'll be an error-prone goalkeeper or defender. Its harsh, but these games are won or lost on fine margins! Reuniting that France 1998/2000 axis is a good counter-argument though.

Managers have suddenly decided to enter controversial kamikaze mode
And Gary Neville in goal, what's your point ?Jake needs a left winger, I suggest Stewart Downing
The Game could do with more steel in midfield, get Joey Barton
...
We know Stobzilla is getting Louis Saha
And Gary Neville in goal, what's your point ?
Are controversial picks now going to be known in Caf Draft circles as "doing a Stob"
Because I am down with that.
Where would all be without whack-job South and Central American goalkeepers.Yes, when I posted your formation graphic yesterday I was going to put Chilavert/Highuita or Campos in it. Shame they are all inelligible
I'm not sold on it. Ozil on the right wing doesn't make sense to me, and Kaka and Ronaldinho didn't work together in 2006. I see them getting in each others way more often than not - definitely a case of too many cooks spoil the broth. Also, if Ozil is cutting inside, then who is providing width on the right flank? They've already stated that Gallas won't be going forward (not that he is capable of a meaningful attacking contribution anyway). Sensational left side though, and a quality midfield.
Baia? I actually need to check CL appearances for various goalkeepers because I can think of at least 5 if not 10 better ones off the top of my head. I'm pretty sure they all qualify though.
Balls! It's coming back to me already!

Özil on the right is a common thing at Real. Not unusual at all. They have XXX playing there, him or YYYY and only one of them is a winger. Where does the width come from? A little thing called movement off the ball. You see, none of these players are rooted to their position. They don't hang there like Valencia (who doesn't know any better) but move around freely. Much like the current Chelsea side and many other teams (Real Madrid without YYYYY) as well.
Too many cooks to spoil the broth? Well shit. Someone ring Scolari, Tito or del Bosque and let them know.

He was a quality keeper, he won the CL with Porto, also player for Barca and was a quality keeper for Portugal too.
Are you talking about the turn or are we holding a caption contest?
