Why did he turn to the ref to complain after getting clipped?

Wilder not been the same since Fury got off the canvas in that first fight to get draw
He should've retired a few fights ago. Only in there to get paydays now. Don't know how much he got paid for tonight, but I think he's weighed up the worth of these final big nights and has thought feck it, why not? But his heart is not there anymore and the one thing that made him so dangerous (his confidence he could throw and land the bomb) has deserted him, so he doesn't even attempt to do so anymore.

Promoters shouldn't be booking him at the rates they are anymore. He's done.

Been reading few people saying Ngannou vs Wilder for a "Whoever loses leaves boxing" fight.

Wilder is surely done after this and will retire. He’s lost four of his last five fights. He’s lost against every decent boxer he’s ever faced. He had a long undefeated run by fighting absolute nobodies. The highest ranked and best fighter he ever fought before Fury was a 40 year old Luis Ortiz, who had the better of that fight until a late knockout. After that he’s been comprehensively beaten by Fury (twice), Parker and now Zhang. He’s taken a lot of heavy punishment, that has surely rattled around the few brain cells he had, and he’d be better off for his health just packing it in. He’s not a credible opponent for anyone in the top ten.

The thing about Wilder is, he was never any good. He was knocking out very poor opposition for the most part. All time great punch but that's about it.

Watching some of usyk's previous fights and he's generally pretty reserved about dishing additional damage when an opponent goes down, an interesting attribute off his and whether it's for sportsmanship or somethings else I don't know.

David Haye's live reactions watching Usyk hammering Fury in the 9th round - very gif worthy if not meme worthy!

Why did he turn to the ref to complain after getting clipped?

Wilders often done that when getting clipped from a legit shot. Done it against Ortiz, Fury 2, Parker and now Zhang.

I think it's summit subconscious from him. He definitely doesn't know that he was one of the most overprotected heavyweights ever and just got so used to getting all the calls in his favour that when he does get clipped he's thinking "hey ref, thats not fair they're not supposed to hit me that hard"

Caught up on the Wilder v Zhang bout. Wilder is done, I heard he had another fight coming up and I really can't see it going well at all.

Is that what happened? I just thought he didn't know where he was
It looked that way at the time, but I haven't watched it back. His arms come out as he turns to the ref, and he's completely unaware when Zhang puts him out as if he's expecting the ref to step in. Might just be confusion from the initial punch, but seemed like he was complaining about something.

Fair play for the win but I’d be concerned about Dubois versus Joshua with the amount of straight punches he ate against Hrgovic.

He’s very front on, i’m not sure why it’s not been picked up by his various trainers.

Impressed by Dubious' toughness in that fight, it was probably the most impressive thing for me. We know he's a well built strong lump that can punch a bit so the fact he's dangerous and can finish isn't a surprise, even though he looks a bit stiff and clumsy early in fights.

But the ability to absorb punches is not something he's always displayed but seems to have really found a new mentality in the ring recently. He even got rocked by some African journeyman at some point so really surprised at his ability to eat clean punches off a good fighter. Wouldn't like to see that chin tested against the likes of Joshua if I was his trainer so he'll need to be a lot more switched on defensively.

Hrgović had a fever which took him 3 weeks out of training so he wasnt 100 percent fit. That's why his leg work wasnt good and his whole match. He won first few rounds but when Dubois saw the cut he went for the kill so to speak and Hrgović got a proper beating. He's been waiting for this fight for a long while so its a question how he will come out of this.

Wilder is done. A shell of his former self.

Personally convinced he’d have gotten the same treatment from Parker & Zhang even during his apparent “prime”, he was simply never a good boxer and was bizarrely hyped way beyond what his record deserved.
The second he started getting into the ring with anyone decent he’s been caught well short. Ruiz would’ve absolutely battered him too.
His best fight by far was the first against Fury, a man who’d been semi retired for 3 years.

He’s never had much skill but he did have killer instinct and very heavy hands. There’s a good chance they all beat him even at his best but he did have the ability to end any fight with a single shot so you never know.

Once someone who relies on single punches goes gun shy though, it’s time to call it a day.

Same. Probably up there with the most overrated HWs in history let's be honest. The only decent wins on his resume are Luis Ortiz. Everyone else is / was trash.

His trilogy with Fury was entertaining but in reality he was dominated in every fight outside of the knockdowns, barely won a round in any of them when he didn't put Fury on the canvas.

Dubois against AJ should be a great fight and I think I would lean towards Dubois

Think AJ would spark Dubois out. It's funny. AJ has gone from nothing to something again within the space of a few months. Just shows how fickle boxing can be and how because we were bereft of the big fantasy fights, most of the discussion has been based on those possible fantasy fights around who's the best.

Ennis-Crowley off due to a lingering eye problem for the latter.

Hopefully Matchroom manage to keep the show on - 5.5 weeks notice should usually give you enough time to find an opponent, but it's not like people were queuing up to fight Boots beforehand.

IBF top 15 is pretty sparce for options - best guess is Alexis Rocha, Gabriel Valenzuela or David Avanesyan.

Dubois is B or C level at best. Now that AJ has a bit of confidence and is less gun shy, he should beat him comfortably. Dubois doesn't have the nous to exploit him, but obviously always has a punchers chance.

Agreed. AJ will catch him a few times

Decent night of boxing tonight. Whittaker fights again - should win easily but let's see if he sticks to his over the top showboating.

Then a rematch of CBS and Riakorphe. Last time they fought Riakorphe win by split decision but that was back in 2019 and CBS has won a world title since then and has probably the better resume since then. He's been in some tough fights though and I think that may have an impact in this fight. I expect Riakorphe to win by stoppage this time.

Gervonta Davis fighting over in the US as well against Frank Martin. Frank Martin is a game fighter who'd give anyone a decent fight but he's a level below the elite and Davis should win comfortably - most likely be stoppage with his power. Benavidez v Gvodzyk is another fight too which should be a decent watch - he goes under the radar Benavidez but he's an elite fighter.

Arenyeka managed to stay till the end, gotta give it to him defensively, but nothing there offensively.

Whittaker has a lot of ground to cover in his development, and his lack of punch power is an issue

Riakporhe has poor conditioning. Can't seem to sustain attacks and always smothering his own work by clinching after he lands

Only gave Riakporhe three rounds and felt I was generous in doing so. Some of those scorecards were crazy, especially with the point taken off.

He was up on the scorecards but Davis was just biding his time. Picked it up big time in the later rounds and now just got the KO
