What is it with British heavyweights losing and turning into bellends post-match?

So pleased for Usyk. An absolutely fantastic boxer. Travelled all over Europe and now the world twatting everyone in their own backyards and/or under their own terms. He’s been brilliant for boxing. One of all the time greats.

I actually think that was a very good version of Fury. I think he was terrified with how he felt when he didn't take things seriously against Francis and used the extra time he was allowed by the (completely valid) cut to get in the best shape he has been in years.

Usyk is just the baddest man of this generation.
Absolutely. This was as good as I’ve seen fury, but Usyk is a master

I remember a few years ago when he was the crowning cruiser, people said he’s too small for heavyweight. What a career he’s turned out to have

Fury must regret clowning when he was up. That was unprofessional and it cost him dearly.

Nothing but praise for Usyk.

I think he clowns as a way to try and win rounds without doing much and to maintain stamina.

He lost to a better boxer and there isn't much he could do against him for 12 rounds unless he found a big shot.

Fury just came across as a right sore bad loser. Usyk wins that because “Ukraine are at war” :wenger:

He was outclassed, outfought and outperformed by the much better fighter.

Mate what are you on about? First off there was a knockdown so these scores aren't even possible...

Secondly - 119-109? 1 round for Fury?!
Yeah, my calculations were fecked.

I think in the end, it was 7-5 rounds for Usyk, so he should have won by 3 points (counting the KD).

Lots of close rounds though, you can make a case for Fury winning just rounds 4 and 5. Though I think he got rounds 2, 4, 5, 6 and 12, but 2 and 12 were extremely close.

Seriously Fury needs to fire his dad and the rest of his camp after that. They were literally telling him he was winning going in to that final round

Fury's corner basically telling him he was going to win for the last 3 rounds messed with his head

I thought Sugar hills instructions were good throughout the fight but those comments were tragic. Should have told Tyson he needed to be more aggressive.

Fight should have been stopped when Fury was bouncing between ropes like Homer Simpson

Probably a nationality thing. Nothing to do with being champion prizefighters

Fury was totally in control after R6, but he’s such a bellend he didn’t keep it up.
Even in the last, he clearly hurt Usyk but then stood off.

Invredibly easy to come out and say he won that match (which still sound stupid but we're used to fighters not admitting defekt now) without talking about Ukraine

Its BS. The fight was won by the better fighter on the night.

Fury knows it too

Clear winner for me.

What an incredible heart Usyk has, never gives up, knows what he has to do to win, great fight.
Was similar to the AJ second fight, where AJ was doing relatively well, till the second half where he just found another level, and I don't don't think any heavy weight has the engine to live with him at that stage.

Such a reach disadvantage, how does he manage to overwhelm bigger men with such crazy pressure?

Exactly. Based on those 2 judges scorecards, a bit more front foot in the last two rounds could've won it for him.

This was bizarre. He should have been told he needed to get out there and make a point.

I mean we both read this thread which is obviously saying what I'm saying.... and I'm reading the same elsewhere, but I guess you're looking at different places away from here.

But all I'm seeing is laughing everywhere at those scores. But okay, don't stress it brother.

Im talking about you saying Usyk destroyed him which he definitely didn’t, it’s getting caught up in the moment and there’s a late of hate for Fury right now that people let that effect things. The guy had Usyk in severe trouble in the middle rounds. He looked in control until a few shots landed flush and rang the bell of Fury and changed the entire fight. Like I said, fight of two halves. I expected Usyk to get the decision but this was definitely a close fight and there should definitely be a rematch. People claiming Usyk dominated and it wasn’t close is absolutely terrible tbh.

Really felt like Usyk was there for the taking but somehow at certain moments Fury didn't commit more when he had to.

Said the same thing! AJ did very well until round 7 or 8 and Usyk just turned it on and dominated.

After four or five rounds, I was fully expecting it to turn into a jab and clinch fest, but he just somehow never allowed it to happen.

Thought half way through that Usyk was done, hurt and Fury was picking him off at will, under no stress.

Then in the 9th, wallop! and Usyk absolutely shells Fury out of nowhere, and I think the ref stepped into to save the KO tbh, Fury was on his way down and the ref goes early, saving him.

People need to realise a couple of things.

1. Usyk punches a lot harder than he is given credit for at heavyweight.
2. He shuts of avenues to pressure him when you think he is hurt and makes it feel like a risky proposition.

This is the third top 10 heavyweight who people have said should have pressured him in moments and all 3 have avoided doing so like the plague.

Tyson's only mistake was signing up to fight the baddest man of his generation. He fought very well.

Other than 4,5&6 what other rounds are people giving Fury?
117-110 Uysk for me. I might not have watched as many boxing matches as the Judges but I can't see how anyone can have Fury winning.

Fury is scum for bringing up the war. He was well beaten and only a bell saved him from a knockout

Can we at least stop that Fury GOAT shit now. First high quality fighter he’s fought and he was well beaten

Close the fecking chapter on that one please

I think he thought he had the measure of Usyk and got complacent momentarily, then he got his clock cleaned and from there got a 10-8 against him then had to take the next round off to recover, which was costly in what was such a close fight up to that moment in time.

Agree he clowns to maintain stamina and also set traps, but this time, I think it was him showing his prowess. Lennox has just said the same, about him getting caught and it changing the fight.

Also, can we take a second to appreciate that the 37 year old version of Usyk did this? Look man. Tail end of his prime. If Usyk took this fight earlier? He'd be even more relentless.

He couldn't maintain his punch output. All the drinking does damage to the liver can't match someone who's been a consummate professional their entire career. Skill-wise I think Tyson outdone Usyk in some regards but Usyk had the ability to go up a gear.

Usyk was 8-4 up (Fury, with the 4th,5th,6th and 12th) and had Fury on a count. I don't think it's anywhere near as close as the split decision award.

I don't have a problem with the close scorecard. I had Usyk first round, even round 2, Fury the next 4, Usyk the next 4 (with the knock down), Fury the 11th and even in the 12th. Usyk by one or two points. But Fury shouldn't have been given a W on any of the scorecards, perhaps a draw if you've given him the close rounds.

Can make an argument him getting rounds 2 and potentially 12.

In not a particularly big fan of fury but I thought he actually performed quite well. Looked to have found his range and was in control from 2nd to the end of the 7th really.

All credit to usyk though, didn't get distracted by the showboating, kept plugging away somehow managed to get stronger and stronger as it went on. Only criticism was not going for the kill in the 10th - fury was there for the taking for at least the first minute of that round

The ref 100% saved fury in the 9th - he does his job and it's over but again, credit to fury for somehow recovering he looked totally gone.

I don't have an issue with tyson saying he thought he'd won - all fighters have that mindset - but there's really no need for the Ukraine at war comment. Total nonsense that

Great fight and for once I'm glad for the rematch clause as I reckon the second could be even better
