The RedCafe Boxing Thread

I'm sick to death of Talkshite and 5Live licking Saudi arseholes over this sports washing event.

And the cream of World boxing selling their souls for a mountain of money which legitimate promoters can possibly hope to match.

feck these cnuts, I want nothing to do with it.

you’re missing out

Otto Wallin is serious business. Yes, he's fought mostly nobodies, but the one chance he got at a top level fighter, it ended up a really close fight.

Parker vs Wilder is also very interesting. Parker is no slouch.

Joshua and Wilder shouldn't be letting themselves get drawn into discussions about future fights, they both have serious obstacles to overcome tonight.

Bivol comes across really well. Credit to him for speaking in English.

Fair play to Arthur for stepping in and at least keeping Bivol honest.

Bivol’s honesty…or lack of finishing…will fare badly for him against Beterbiev. It will really be a matchup of precision against power

You can’t be serious. Both are gimmes that if they don’t win it indicates they have no business even looking at the big table for mega fights. The onus in both is not only to win, but put on very impressive performances that raise their profiles and interest once more; bad shows for either of them will be disastrous.

I think that's an unfair notion - what in your mind constitutes evidence that Wallin or Parker are gimmes?

Wallin, in particular, has only lost against Fury and caused him all sorts of problems in that loss. Much more than Wilder managed.

Parker has had some poor fights but is a former world champion. This is the heavy weight division, and while Joshua and Wilder are favourites, I only regard them as slight favourites. If any of them have a dominant performance, I'll be impressed

This fight's looking like a real 50/50

Very used to seeing Wilder lose every round of a fight before landing a big shot and ending it. But Parker's here to win

Was just going to say. Looks like every Wilder fight i've ever seen.

Just need the right straight to land plum and it's deja vu.

I think that’s symptomatic of people just going off name recognition and assuming everyone else in the division is just a bum. Both Parker and Wallin are good fighters. Not top drawer but good enough that on their day they can cause a serious upset. The difference between some of these fighters isn’t anywhere near as big as some seem to imagine. Both Wilder and Joshua on their day, performing at their best, should win handily; but fighters very rarely give their best outing every time. If Parker or Wallin have a great day, and either of the other two are even slightly off it, they could be in real trouble.

Has Parker won every round so far?

He just needs to not go down and he has won this.

While Wilder might still win this with one big punch, I’ve rarely seen a boxer consistently take so much punishment and come through it. He has to be a prime candidate for some sort of degenerative brain disease later in life. Getting hit so hard and so often in the head is not good. Yes, boxers get hit, but every time Wilder fights anyone half decent, he gets pummeled until he eventually knocks them out or, in the Fury case, loses. In that third Furt fight, he took a seriously dangerous amount of punishment.

Wilder is always dangerous which is why he’s good to watch. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Parker floored soon

Wilder needs to do an Ortiz here or he's done and I'm talking career not just this fight.

C'mon I know he ain't De La Hoya..... but I dare you to give him a decision similar to the Felix Sturm robbery because Joshua-Wilder already set more or less

Parker has successfully emulated Fury's approach...closing the distance to neutralise Wilder's right hand.

I kinda want to see the robbery to witness the reaction
